Fiberglass work over the original hull-deck joint is complete, after first fairing the substrate left behind after removing the original rubrail, then installing two layers of 1708 biax over the joint, followed by fairing as needed.

1975 Ericson 35 hull-deck joint
มุมมอง 241ปีที่แล้ว
Beneath the PVC rubrail covering the hull-deck joint, I found short outward flanges with a 1" high wooden insert beneath. On this boat, the wood was well-rotted, but it's a non-structural piece. These owners asked that I glass over the exterior of the joint, so this area will be sanded flush, glassed over, and eventually faired and painted without a rubrail.

A beautiful design and I’m looking forward to you making her shine again….
Great to see you on the tube TL! Building out a shop property finally, with a Typhoon underway. Cheers!
Very nice Tim. This series will be a great resource for those new to stitch and glue construction. Does the 207 hardener eliminate formation of amine blush? Will you still perform a wipe down anyway?
Really enjoying your posts, FRV.
Thanks Tim
👍
That looks great.
That's going to look great. It's going to be stronger, look better, and most importantly be water tight. A huge improvement over the stock configuration.
Always liked the Ericsson 35. That repair should be a big improvement. Glassed over and water tight.
I mate I like to see the rudder setup you made please
Missed a spot, Tim. 😉
👍
Love the music. I just thought you were moving very very slowly.

The master at work.
Good job Tim. Thank you
That’s pretty neat. Very quiet.
Didnt show what wrenches you used.
...hmmmmm 😂
Excellent work!
Tim, How come you are leaving the couple of inches close to the coachroof? Is is solid fiberglass or cored? does the core go all the way against the coachroof? Im about to start a project on a mystic 20 so i am closely following your progress!
What size boat? Thanks for posting :)
Which Sabre do you have? How has this engine been for you?
You my friend are a minimalist on these videos. But thanks anyway . Antonio
cool idea
Pulled right out.
What size yacht is she? What size prop and transmission ratio are you running?
I have an early Mk.1 Contessa that I'm planning to put a Beta 14 in to. Would really appreciate any advice you can offer on installation please. Especially modification/replacement of the engine beds (mine had a 7hp Vire originally). Thanks for anything you can help me with.
Please visit www.lackeysailing.com/projects and view the "Salty" project from 2016, as well as the "Equinox" project from 2008 (both CO 26s with new Beta 14s). There's plenty of detail describing the installations in both boats. The English Contessas may be different from these JJ Taylor versions. If you have further questions you may email me from the website. Thanks for your interest. Tim
Thanks Tim, much appreciate response. I'll go and have a look now........
Happy puppies (A little cold maybe, but happy.)
Mines is doing the same ..what's the dill
The grunts make me feel as though I were there! I can even feel the sharp point of some fitting digging into my side as I lie wedged in the engine compartment opening. Good times ;).
Runs so sweet.
Mechanical or electrical?
