Hello, My name is Jack and I have been playing guitar since 2001. However, in 2015 I took a break from guitar and played very little while I got an Engineering degree. These days I have the time to take up learning guitar again and I intend to post videos here to record my journey as I learn techniques and musical concepts that I previously did not think I was capable of. However, these days I understand that all of the great guitar players have put in a lot of hard work to get where they are and I'd like to master this instrument someday as they have. I hope you enjoy watching my videos and can be inspired by my progress as I get better. Subscribe and comment if you would like to share ideas or discuss guitars.

Alone in The Ring
A short guitar improvisation loosely based on the sad music from Rocky(Alone in The Ring).

A bit of up tempo blues with some unusual licks thrown in. Watching this back reminds me of that end scene from back to the future. Its not always fun to play tasteful blues and I can be guilty of overplaying a bit. Backing track by @WaveJamTracks . Its a fun one (Link is below). th-cam.com/video/FzlbVZv8mIU/w-d-xo.html

Letting the strat sing a bit here. Playing over a Joe Bonamassa style backing track here by @nowyoushred . I'm just going with the music here and seeing what happens. Its a minor blues in B.
listened to Albert Collins all day!

This outburst was the responsibility of all the people who made the Albert Collins Frostbite album. Some seriously good blues that I keep coming back to. Albert was the master of the Telecaster.
Noisy Strat
มุมมอง 22321 วันที่ผ่านมา
Getting a bit carried away playing with my distortion pedals and running through my collection of minor rock licks. Hope you enjoy listening to this one. The noisy Strat in question is a fender American vintage ii 1961 Stratocaster played through a tube screamer, ds1 and blues driver. I'm sure that a lot of the earth noise is caused by my nearby computer and poor PSU.
My Little Pedal Board
มุมมอง 1.3K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
A short overview of my current pedal board and how it is setup. This sounds a lot better when the amplifier is louder and you are in the room. My phone mic is adding some phaser that doesn't exist. As you'll see, I am doing a bit of gain staging to get a sound I like here with two or three drive pedals on when playing lead parts. This is something that I have not tried until the end of 2024 and...
Going Down to Funky Town

A funky jam tonight on my strat. Using the settings discussed on my recent pedal board video. Still getting a weird warbly sound on the phone mic. Guess I'll need to play louder next time.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

A short improv in A Minor (somewhere between while my guitar gently Weeps and baby I'm gonna leave you). Playing my American Vintage ii 1961 Stratocaster here into a little digital Vox amplifier clean (with gain stacking pedals between guitar and amp). This performance was recorded on a potato. Apologies for the audio quality.

American Vintage ii Vs Classic Player 60s - Stratocaster Shootout
มุมมอง 105หลายเดือนก่อน
Playing both my Stratocasters (not at the same time, I'm not Micheal Angelo Batteio) to see how different a mexican and American 60s style guitar sounds and performs. At the time of recording the sunburst classic player guitar had a brand new set of strings on and was recently setup. The fiesta red American has strings around a month old (played daily). Both guitars pickups are set to 2mm from ...

Great jam, some very cool licks and nice harmonics 🎶🎸🎶
Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed this one 😁
Very nice playing! Such a cool idea! Great feel to this jam, and some sweet playing! I enjoyed this quite a bit! Keep on rockin' man!👍🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Thanks. This was just a spur of the moment thing when the mood called for it. Glad you enjoyed listening along 🎸👍
這個blues這種東西!ㄧ彈錯音就從eric clapton變成jimmy page了
Exactly. Lots of options and most sound good. Thanks for listening 😁
Hell yeah
Thanks 😁🎸
This is great sounding bluesrock jam 🎸🎶
Thanks a lot 😁 glad you enjoyed listening!
Nice jam session! One question? Were you tempted to kick over the amp and then play on your knees?😂 just kidding man! Good jam, I have to agree with you, the neck pickup on that guitar sounds fantastic! Have a good week, keep on rockin my friend!👍👍🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶
Of course I thought about it 🤣 thanks for watching as always. Yeah neck and bridge pickups are the best I've played on a strat. Especially with lots of gain. Very clear and full of character.
good bluce!
Thank you!
Nice sounding jam, great bluesy licks
Thanks a lot. I am glad you enjoyed this one!
Nice blues jam! I can hear a bit of Gary Moore influence coming through your playing! Perfect Strat for it too!👍🎸🎶🎶🎶Keep on rockin man!
Thanks a lot! Yeah the red strat has that look and sound about it. I love the bridge pickup on this one.
Great demo , what amp are you playing through
Thanks for watching 😁 it's a fender champ amplifier that I built myself.
I can here where SRV got his aggressive Picking from.
Yeah between Albert Collins and Albert King you can see where SRV got a lot of his sound. Thanks for watching 👍
Can't go wrong with the Iceman! Nice jam! 👍🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Absolutely. He had a very unique approach to the guitar 🎸
Wish you had a mic closer to your amp… the unamplified guitar being picked up by the mic you’re speaking into is louder than the sound of your amp, so it’s hard for us to hear something close to what you are hearing… 🤷♂️
My bad. The phone mic is crap also and tries to suppress background noises (the guitar) so that spoken voices are clear. Hopefully the explanation of the pedals was clear enough and you can listen to my other recent videos for sounds. Thanks for watching 😁
Nice jam! Good fuzzy tone, nice soloing!! Have a great week, keep on rockin!
Thanks a lot 😁. Can't beat the sustain you get with a big fuzzy compressed sound 🎸
Less is more!
Exactly. It's also easier to carry around the place. Thanks for watching 😁
the only thing i would need is Wah and delay so i could do with 5 pedals easy, Wah overdrive, distortion, delay and reverb
Yes, could always use a clip on tuner or other method to free up some more space on the board. I've never used much wah but would like one to play around with at some point. Thanks for watching 😁
I think my perfect 3 pedal board would have a delay w/tap tempo, a rat and a hall reverb
That sounds like a cool setup 😁
Cool board. I'd suggest investing in some sort of modulation. A chorus would sound good with all this overdrive/distortion
Thanks for the suggestion. I would like to have some reverb/delay on there but can do this through my amps at the moment. There's always something else that would be nice to add but I'm trying to keep things simple for my practice setup. Thanks for watching 😁
Very nice rendition~
Thanks a lot 😁🫏 🎸
Very nice rendition~
Thank you 😁
This pedal board says Confidence. Mine in comparison screams "overcompensating!"
Pedals are great. The problem is that it’s easy to get overly complex and impractical. I’d use loads more in a studio setting but this is just what I would like to use for jams/improv&practice. Id love to squeeze a wah, fuzz, compressor, delay… on there. However, these wouldn’t help me much when I practice. Let me know if I can get a look at your monster pedalboard 😁
All solid choices, nice board!👍
I am trying to put together a simple/functional setup that can be used with different amplifiers to get semi-consistent sounds. The problem I have at home is that I can be using a completely different setup in each room of the house. This takes too long sometimes to assemble so I’ve opted for a portable little pedalboard that can be moved around. The ingredients here have been carefully thought out 😁
Nice jam! I think the comment above may have been referring to the picking noise, it could be either an amp volume thing or a phone mic positioning. I've run into that problem before. Just keep on rockin man!! I hope you have a great weekend!!
Thanks. Yeah, pick noises are going to happen. Still had a fun jam here and enjoyed making a noise. Thanks for watching 😁
Similar here. Same Guitar 😁 Blues Junior Amp, delay (always on), chorus, blues driver, Tubescreamer, treble booster. Then I have a Princeton Reverb amp used mostly straight in with a Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal to add some colour if necessary. I used to have loads of pedals, but minimalist is better IMO. The Boss Blues driver is an amazingly versatile pedal for not a lot of money.
Yes, simplicity is the way to go. I used to switch between lots of different gain pedals using them one at a time to try and get the sounds I was after. Turns out I needed to add different layers of gain and compression to get near to what I was looking for. Thanks for watching and I'm a wee bit jealous of your Princeton 😁
@ Mine is a ‘68 Custom, as I only play at home. It’s a little darker than the ‘65 reissue, which is more true to the original, which I think sits better in a band situation.
I’ve been listening to a lot of Princeton demos over the Christmas break and will likely get one soon. Fantastic amplifiers.
You ain't plugged in
I hope this is a Matrix reference 😂
@@ninestonecowboys yea it is not trying to offend :)
👍😁
Nice improv! Great melodies and licks. Everything can happen when playing solo (those wires :D)
Thanks a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I never expected to get tangled up but tried to not let it be too distracting 😅
Nice! I'm glad you decided to have a go at this, good job! I dig when you kicked on the gain and really let the notes sing. Not sure if you are ever looking for suggestions, but the song 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago has basically the same chord progression only with a different tempo, and Terry Kath was one bad man on the guitar, you should definitely consider that one at some point, it's good fun! Keep on rockin man! Careful of those wires hanging!
Thanks. I think I remember how that one goes (With a lot of horns and some nice guitar playing). I may have a go at it in the future. Also the stray wires are my fault for not tidying up after myself. Lesson learned until next time the guitar gets ensnared.
@ninestonecowboys the version on TH-cam from 1970 Tanglewood, CA is top notch
Thanks 👍 I will take a look later on.
Fantastic. Where'd you get the backing track?

Great.
Thanks a lot 😊
Good jam, nice playing 👏🎶🎸

Chilled indeed! Well done!👍🏼
Thanks a lot 😊
Cool Strat, getting an assortment of useful luthier tools are a must for any guitar player imo, there's nothing more satisfying that doing the work on your guitar yourself, it's a great learning experience, it's not very difficult and you really connect more with the guitar as opposed to dropping it off at a shop for a couple of weeks. For the cost of a fret leveling and recrowning/polishing, you can buy the tools and have them whenever you need them, and don't have to wait for repairs. I hope you had a great Christmas! Keep on rockin'!🎸🎶🎶
Always handy to have the right tools for these things. I'm slowly upgrading all of my cheap fret files when necessary. Thanks for watching and I hope you and your family enjoy a nice Christmas break.
Nice playing! Too much on the treble side for my old ears ...
Apologies for the discomfort. Thanks for watching 👍😁
I am a 19 year old Russian guy, I have been listening to blues for 5 years and will continue to listen, and what you played was truly beautiful.
Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed the performance 😁
Nice jam, the backing track is definitely BB, but the playing style is something all your own. Keep on rockin' man! Merry Christmas to you!
Thanks a lot. It would be very hard to try and copy all of the subtleties of BB Kings playing so I went another direction here. 😁
As a guitarist of 39 years, let me say that you've got real soul and excellent expression. Great videos
Thank you so much. That means a lot. It's been mostly hard work getting where I am as well as listening to a lot of music (that helps). 😁
Fantástica interpretación de blues, me ha gustado mucho mucho, ha sido genial, enhorabuena y gracias por compartir tu trabajo, like 1
Gracias por sus amables palabras. Me alegro de que hayas disfrutado de este :)
Very nice Tone! I use a DSL40CR with Britsh tone, but the American Drives is the perfect amp to play the bluesy guitar. Congratulations Guy, one more subscribe!
Thanks a lot. I am thinking about getting a DSL in the near future as I love the Marshall & Strat sounds you can get out of them. Right now I am mostly playing through a Fender Champ or digital modeled amplifiers. Thanks for the Sub :)
Excellent!
Thank you 😊
Very enjoyable!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed this jam 😁
Nice jam! I dig the octave section around 3:25, good use of the trem too!🎸🎶🎶🎶
Thanks man. Sometimes it's nice to mix things up with a poor impression of Wes Montgomery. Octaves give it a nice sound and this is always something I keep forgetting to practice until I decide to try it out in a jam.
Skillful playing with nice tone 🎸🎶👏🔥
Thanks a lot. I enjoyed this one 😁

Great feel. Sounds good man
Thanks a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed this jam 🎸
@@ninestonecowboys who are some of your favorite players? i hear so many different influences
Hi. Thanks for asking. I spent a lot of time listening to blues guys like SRV, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins(could go on but it's a long list). In recent times I've been listening to a lot of different genres. Really enjoying Steve Morse and Jeff Beck at the moment. I like to listen to a lot of other instruments too and learn what they are doing. So it's all a bit of a mix. Thanks for listening 😁
@@ninestonecowboys Awesome man. I hear all of that in your playing for sure. Haven't listend to steve morse, but i will check him out. Jeff Beck is awesome, i love the Blow by Blow album. You know what i mean is my jam! So funky i think you'd dig it
High Tension Wires album by Steve Morse is what I have been listening to a lot recently. Its really good quality instrumental music (In my opinion). Love the JB Blow by Blow album and Guitar Workshop. Also enjoying a lot of Jeffs more recent live stuff. Glad there is so much good music out there to discover still.
Nice jam! Great bends and vibrato! Subbed
Thanks a lot! 😊
