    Hi. I know this video is older but I was curious about your experience at Universal Studios with a wheelchair. There are endless videos of peoples' experiences at Disney and I know they are accommodating on most rides but I can't really find this same level information for rides at Universal and was hoping to get your perspective on it. Thank you!

    Oh Alfie you are such a handsome young man! You are so good looking....but I'm far too old for you! Lol I am an official OAP at the end of May! Someone somewhere will be looking for a young man like you. Your determination is amazing! I was sorry to see you were in pain after going to school. I used to be in agony every single day after going to school. I should have started using a wheelchair much earlier then I would have been able to enjoy going to school. I didn't start using a wheelchair until I was around 28 or 29. In those days it was unacceptable for people who could walk to use a wheelchair. It didn't matter how much pain the walking caused it was just NOT ALLOWED! I mean no-one could stop a person from using a wheelchair but years later when I applied to look at my medical notes I was certainly mocked, ridiculed and abused by the medical profession for making the decision to use a wheelchair. When I started using a wheelchair it meant I could enjoy life instead of being in pain every single minute of every single day. Of course, like you, I had to make sure to exercise intensely every day to keep my muscles strong. It meant I was able to preserve my energy to do other more important things in life. It also meant I didn't need to take as many pain medications which was brilliant. For once in my life I was able to take my young Daughter down to the beach. Every day after school the other children at her school went to the play park which was only about 150 yards or metres from my home but it made my feet blister and bleed and caused terrible joint pains. It was lovely when my very kind neighbour borrowed a a wheelchair from the M.S. Society. I didn't have M.S. but they were very pleased to be able to help me. I borrowed a really old chair from them. It didn't have any kerb climber and I had to "jump out" at every kerb while my neighbour manoeuvred the wheelchair for me. My neighbour then took me to a Disability Exhibition in London but I couldn't afford any of the wheelchairs there. However, I met a lady who was sailing around really fast in a brilliant powered wheelchair and she had a "For Sale" sign fixed to the back of her chair! Lol We followed her and managed to speak to her. Luckily by coincidence she lived within 10 miles from my home. She had two wheelchairs for sale. It was a difficult decision which one to buy. In the end I went for the one which had a reclining seat and elevating leg rests. It was a massive help because I could later my position every 20 to 30 minutes to enable me to rest different muscle groups. I couldn't sit up very long but with the help of that chair I could manage to last a whole morning. OK I better log off. My shopping delivery is arriving very soon! Bye for now Alfie. Speak to you soon! Do you like listening to music? I love music.

    Poor lad! All this compulsory PE.

    • @GigglingStar
      @GigglingStar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is good for him and he will know that it's essential to his well being to exercise every single day. When people are unable to walk or do things as others usually do we know we NEED to exercise every day to survive. He probably really enjoys doing this as it will give him a sense of achievement. People who have Cerebral Palsy are usually gifted with extremely high levels of intelligence. Far higher than the National Average. I think this is because the areas of the brain which are NOT damaged work extra hard to compensate for the areas which are damaged. I'm disabled so I have mixed and known many people who have Cerebral Palsy. I don't actually have it myself. However every single person who I have met who does have Cerebral Palsy have been highly intelligent individuals. Maybe Alfie's Mother could clarify this. To me Alfie clearly shows that he has a very high level of intelligence. Alfie - you should be very proud of all your hard work! Keep it up!

      @@GigglingStar Sorry, I wasn't expecting to be taken seriously. It really was just a flippant remark. I was forgetting that it might be seen outside the UK.

    • @GigglingStar
      @GigglingStar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gharwood1356 That's fine. You don't need to apologise. It's good that people question things and by questioning things it gives either the original poster or someone else to respond giving us the opportunity to explain and educate anyone who views the videos in the future. Educating people about the lives of those who have different abilities is essential. I hate it when I post and someone criticises me. Even at my age I get really upset and very sensitive. I didn't want to make you feel like that. It's actually a positive thing to question everything in life and shows that you are interested, intelligent and open to being educated further. A true asset to society! I'm sure there are many days when Alfie feels exactly as your original post indicates. I don't know Alfie or any member of his family personally. I'm just an older person who was born with a mainly invisible muscoloskeletal genetic condition and many other serious medical conditions. I live in the UK and being disabled myself I have mixed with other disabled people most of my life. I'm going to be an official OAP this month so I have many years experience of the trials and difficulties of disabled individuals. ALL comments are usually welcomed by the original posters but they are frequently so busy trying to survive they get little time to respond. That's why it's so important that people like us question things and respond when we have any experience of a particular subject. So thank you for your original very valuable post which shows you have a deep understanding of how Alfie must frequently feel about having to work so hard to just survive.
