In my opinion the ending of their story is……tragically poetic. It was clear throughout that Lana and Clark did love one another, but love wasn’t enough in their relationship and their relationship was pretty toxic……and in the end Lana became too toxic for Clark.

This broke my soul. I stopped watching Smallville after this B.S. They should have ended up together. I did not like Lois, she was annoying and the chemistry between her and Clark was never enough to keep me engaged. They were more like brother and sister than lovers. Clark and Lana were the heart and soul of Smallville.
