Ho scale via turbotrain at the west island modular railroad club in dorval montreal. I fixed the drive axles and that thing just flies. I had trouble keeping up with it when I was filming. It goes around the layout 4-5 times without derailing and without video interruptions.

ESU Power pack in an ho scale Rapido locomotive. I was able to cross a paper towel throught its entire length with the speed set at 5 on a Digitrax throttle.

19 cars Canadian pacific passenger train "The Canadian" at the Société des Modélistes Ferroviaires de Lanaudière (SMFL) the train club in Joliette Qc, during the transition era around 1968-1970 from tuscan to action red paint scheme, with the bulk mail express box car from vancover to calgary at the head end.

After modifying the intermediate trucks I was able to add 28 cars in between the locos.

Yes it's the west island modular railroad club in dorval. I also got one on order, but we'll have to wait until 2025 to get them. Jason Shron the ceo of rapido trains will send me a complete turbotrain for free when they come out because he took pictures of the truck/boggy modifications that I made back like 7-8 years ago. That's why my turbos run so well. They did not run like this out of the box. I sure hope that the new ones will run just as well without making any modifications.

I assume your drive axles were cracked?? What was involved in fixing them? Do you have spares, or do you have a source for replacements?
Brand new in the box, they were already cracked. In all with replacement gear boxes(1 set of replacement gear boxes = 4 drive axles) so I bought 4 sets which = 16 drive axles, plus I own 8 sets of turbotrains which = 32 drive axles. So 32 + 16 = 48 drive axles, and on the 48 that I have only 2 axles are in good shape. So now I'm able to build myself some drive axles using parts from other gear boxes, but I'll soon be running out of parts. My next move will be to buy some 0.4 mod spur gear from northwest short line and go from there. I need to build myself a complete set of drive axles (from parts from nwsl) to be able to say that I can fix axles for others. I am not a machinist, but I bought a small lathe and I'm able to do a lot with it. Good luck my friend.

A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout, though I don't believe I'll have enough room for a Big Boy or a helix.
The big boy can take tight curves if that's what you're worrying about. The Trix Big Boy that i just bought can take curves as tight as 18″ radius. The one in the video is a BLI.
@@ginopalladini1737 Ah, OK. The curves on my layout are 22.5", so I believe a Big Boy like that could handle the curves. While I have seen two Big Boys in real life, though, I'm not sure I'd have enough room on my layout (10' x 6.67') to properly run an HO scale model.
@@Stussmeister You've Seen 2 big boys in real life!! That must of been something to see. Were you a young kid then or a teenager? What year was it when you saw that?
@@ginopalladini1737 I believe I saw my first Big Boy at Steamtown National Historical Park in the mid-2000s, when I was a teenager. That engine is #4012, and while it's only on static display, it has been cosmetically restored. It was about three years ago that I saw #4014 in a Utah station (along with Living Legend #844) as part of the Golden Spike 150th Anniversary.
