Haste the Day, “Burn” (First Time Live at Soundcheck, HiFi Annex 8/17/24)
I’m 20 shows in, now. Nowhere near some of the totals I overheard last night from folks that have been following this band since Carmel High School or Cornerstone Festival or even the Pressure the Hinges era “that’s my favorite record of theirs” days.
And still, the numbers don’t matter. And still I persist, show after show. This is the commitment. These are moments that just can’t be taken for granted. The band. The people that show up. The connections that are made as a result. All of it: irreplaceable.
My gratitude for these experiences comes from an eternal well, and from that same well, tears. I cried, proud of these gentleman for not only nailing a brand new song perfectly, but for blowing away the hundreds of people eager to hear this for the first time. There’s such an energy to be found in watching people move with such passion, excited for new music from one their favorite bands.
Love seeing people love these dudes.
