Born into a centuries long fly fishing family with every holiday spent on the river as a child. Scotland was home and the river was my home from home. What else was I going to do but fall madly in love with salmon fishing.
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to fish on Russia, Iceland and New Zealand which have taught me many lessons not only in fishing but in different fly patterns and materials.
Fly tying started at the age of six with lessons at school in Scotland and my first proper lesson from Ally Gowans who shows me how to tie his own invention, the Ally’s Shrimp.
Years of very poor quality flies that usually fell apart through my early teens however thanks to a lot of practice and great tips from some of the best I am not at a stage where I am happy with the salmon flies that I tie.
Tying standard salmon flies for anyone round the world and supporting fellow fly tyers in the hope the we can provide flies to many anglers and help them catch fish!
