Happy New Year! Welcome to 2020.
In order to ring in the new year, I decided to make a seasonal buttercream flower cake that would celebrate all things mid-winter.
A lot of people believe that there is nothing good about winter and that the garden is just a twiggy mess this time of year, but that could not be further from the truth! There are lots of gorgeous flowers that only come out in winter that I will wait all year for.
So this cake design features hellebores, camellias, winter-flowering viburnum and paperwhites. All beautiful winter flowers that really make the season for me.
I've focused on seasonality before on my cake baking series in my 1000 follower celebration cake that consisted of only autumn colours and flowers.
It's wonderful to be back baking and filming again and I had a lot of fun challenging myself to make these quite unusual flowers.
