Calderside Academy in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, is a Level 1 UNICEF Rights Respecting School.
We take pride in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the very heart of the school ethos. The students in Calderside learn about the convention and how these unconditional rights apply to all young people around the world.
We are expected to act in ways that enable all other young people to enjoy their rights. We understand and value each others similarities and differences and support each other. We are also encouraged to be proud of who we are and be the best we can be.
One of the best things about our school is the way in which adults and students are encouraged to work together. This ensures that everyone is able to reach their full potential and that everyone’s talents and skills are recognised.

Once again, Calderside Academy’s S6 Leavers celebrated their last day in school by performing a medley of popular songs, including:

“Loch Lomond - Live” (Runrig)
We wish everyone leaving Calderside this year all the best for the future, and thank them for the last six amazing years.
