GarageBand - Guitar Song - Chugging Octaves - 2025-02-10 - v6 - Stu Bowden
This is a demo I created with GarageBand.
Guitar is a Peavey Wolfgang Special (hard tail, not the floating Floyd Rose).
It's connected to the Mac Mini via an AMT Legacy Amps O2 pedal, but this isn't on, so it's just a buffer (and probably unnecessary). This goes into the front of a Focusrite Scarlet Solo.
The foundation of the guitar sound is from the stock plugins from GarageBand, and I worked out a new mixing technique while making this song. I can expand the space that the guitars take up by duplicating the parts and shifting them slightly - not so they're out of phase, but so the waves are offset enough to sound like different guitars. Doing this requires that they all be turned down to at least -3 dB, or more
If you haven't noticed yet, I'm a big fan of LCR mixing, as well.
Once the song is ready, I export it from GarageBand to an MP3, and tag it. I grab a screen shot of it so I can embed that into the 256KB MP3. Next I will use SnagIt to screen record the song being played by GarageBand (including the system audio), then import the video and the MP3 into iMove and sync the audio up, removing the audio from the video (in case there are any system sounds accidentally embedded in it). Once that new movie is tagged properly and exported, it can be uploaded to TH-cam.

Two guitars recorded into Focusrite interface: - Ibanez JS-1200CA - used GarageBand effects and amps only - Peavey Wolfgang Special - AMT O2, TC Electronic Flashback, into GarageBand virtual amps Drums are the GarageBand drummer instrument. Bass is programmed, I'm not proud of it, but it does the job for a demo.

Peavey Wolfgang Standard, Gold, using the AMT O2 amp simulator pedal (Drive Output) into the clean channel of the Blackstar HT-20 Studio combo. Messing about.... I've really missed playing this guitar. Tuned to E-flat, as always, to max the tone and slinkyness.

You should pop into Bramble Bay Bowls Club I think they're startin the Jam Sessions up again on Sundays - just put your name on the Board and say "I'm just gonna do 10-15mins of Solo Guitar instrumentals" make sure if you allow anyone to join ya that they can FOLLOW otherwise keep it SOLO!!

Thanks man, yep you were right! Do you think I need more OLPs?? I wonder how it would go against the real deal Musicman. The neck on this one is probably the best I've had on an OLP (this is the fourth I've played now). The sound on this video seems to be a combination of the pick (1.14mm, I usually play a 2.0), and the chorus+reverb which are produced together by the Keeley 30ms...and of course lavish deployment of palm muting 🤣.

Great tones and I love my OLPs they're almost as good as the REAL things haha
They (OLPs) are fabulous. This one has some Symour Duncans (not sure which), leading to a thicker neck sound. I'm pretty happy with this one. I'll bring it to your next gig and you can compare them :)
