    All very nice plants. Anthuriums can be addictive for sure. Just ask me.. lol ive been growing them for many years now and have so so many. It is easier when you buy them smaller because they get used to our home environments easier. I grow all of mine in open in my house. No tents or cabinets at all but i do run a humidifier and keep it at about 50% humidity in my home and they do great. Anthuriums are also big feeders. I feed mine everytime i water with a very weak solution of the fertilizer I use which is superthrive. I heard you mention putting them into 2 size up pots. Id be very careful with rhat because you can rot the roots easily. Its already tricky because they do not like to dry out at all. Not trying to seem like a know it all just trying to help you out since your new with Anthuriums. And i also grow in ohio which is much different than how other people grow in their climates. It took me a while to learn to grow them my way in my home. Good luck with your buy ban.n😊😊😊 i say that all the time and here comes another plant. 😅😅😅 anyways. Good luck with all of your beautiful 😍 babies.ni also have many queens but im done buying anymore. And the Bessea you got i have her. She is beautiful 😍 one of my top favs in my collection. She grows very fast and mine has made me 2 babies so far which im just thrilled about because she is such a beauty with those dark leaves !!! I cant stop starring at her all day long. Good luck and take care of those beauties. And enjoy

      Thank you so much!! Your advice is very welcome here! I am slowly learning what they like and I also live in Ohio. Anthuriums are not difficult as some folks have said; I don’t put them under grow lights (well I am experimenting with some) to see how they do. I am not having to much luck with the Bessea is it slow growing for you? It’s been a little over a month since I made this video, so I guess that really isn’t long enough. 😆 Thank you for watching and supporting my channel!

      @LeafyConversations no my bessea grows fast for me. But give her time. After shipping sometimes they take some time. She might be working on roots. And I agree anthuriums really are not that hard once you figure out the lighting and feed and humidity.

    You may already know since you film way in advance but the Andean Queen is an Ecugenera Hybrid they are a plant importer and all over the world Ecugenera Queen is one of their queen crosses. the other part of that cross is Querelmense and it does get long petioles with a fat ruffly leaf. The Andean seems to have the Querelmense characteristics with the waroq veining when mature. Querelmense is a beautiful specimen though and can grow large and somewhat strappy over time.

I use all plastic pots with mine and a fast draining soil . Love my anthuriums been buying them the last few years and they are lovely but are picky. Also like some humidity. Pretty cool that we live in Ohio. Not many people on toutube from here. Lol.. do you have an Instagram account ?

    Update: when I recorded this I had very little experience and knowledge on Tree Feen and Molly’s. I mentioned that there is soil in Molly’s that isn’t true. From the manufacturer here’s what they say. “This mix includes coir fiber, coarse horticultural perlite, expanded clay, coir chips, horticultural charcoal, Rhizophagus irregularis, worm castings, calcitic and dolomitic limestone, Pinus radiata bark, Bacillus pumilus, various nutrients, and a wetting agent” I use this in all my aroids now with tree fern and bonsai grit.

    I wanted to say the plant came from a hot and humid environment. So the soil they have it in is ideal for that environment. It's definitely not ideal for your environment. So, canopy Plant did care for the plant suitable for their environment. If they have it in a chunky mix in a hot and humid environment, they would probably have to water it twice a day. I love Canopy plant company, and they have some of the best plants!!

      Thanks for letting me know! I bought from them many times I do like their plants. I just don’t know why they’d put a Anthurium is such a heavy potting mix? Maybe they repotted it for the trip? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have a fantastic day!!!

    Like the landscape and did you say you didn't know how much longer you were gonna make videos lol, you just started 😅. Do other planty things plant chores, plant q&a , repots with me, check out your local nurseries toms more than just buying and potting.. Also netting is ok it's kind of a touchy thing with some people but that's how they are grown from seed or transferred from Tissue culture when brought in usually , They decompose over time and cause not real issue to the plant. Soil is tricky that's why I am slowly moving everything to pon in no drainage except my cacti and succulents. Keep it going though I've enjoyed all your videos don't give up on us yet lol

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for that positive feedback!!!! I have done lots of planty chores and plant care videos in the past. I started videoing back in December 2023 when starting to buy tropical plants. It’s easy to burn out having to do all the setup, prep just to video. I have videos scheduled up through July, so you’re set for now. 😀 I appreciate you watching and for your comments that means a lot! Now that I have a gimble (you’ll hear about that in the next video) landscape mode it is. I am not comfortable with no drainage maybe in time, but all my plants except for the Colocasia and succulents are in my aroid mix. Have a great day!

    Also as for covering aierl roots I'll use pot extenders (rarely) cause I don't like the look of them or just add spahagnam moss to cover the rest of the stem.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t like the look of them either. I bought extra tall clear pots they (my anthurium) are in and I add tree fern around the stem then put my bonsai jack grit mix over it as a covering.

  • @theeclecticgent502
    @theeclecticgent502 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Step away from the soil, plants and pots lol.. I'm confused what your end goal was for the PPP it's a climbing philodendron so it will want to climb? The poles or sticks you have would be perfect. With the pink terracotta I thought that looked really good. They are probably dry due to the terra cotta pots, I use all no drainage pretty much for everything now or something with a self watering reservoir except for my cacti and succulents. Soil you have to watch like you said especially with Anthuriums cause soil 9 times outta 10in my experience causes rot or some sort of fungal issue. I would have done your grit and tree fern since queens are epiphytic.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I didn’t have an end game with my PPP. It was the fourth time I did a video on her. I hate moss poles, so my first video I cut her down and put her in water. I wanted a full PPP really. I am a lot farther along now than when I did this video. 👏🏻

    Also waros dont have corms that looked like a piece or bark they can only be propogated via stem divisision or through pollination throun an inflo when they get more mature where you then get seeds good thing with Anthurium is of you lose the leaves you can usually get growth from the chonk unless its rotted. They like air on their roots and to stay damp, not soaked but damp and hate drying out. Waroqs i tell people are the advanced anthurium lol once you master the clarinervium, crystalinum, or the lux x radicans. Hope your waroqs do well once they quit fussing and if you can get them happy they are beautiful to have as a houseplant.

      So far this beautiful Queen is doing well. I can't say I have mastered it, but I am getting closer! I just bought a Besseae I suspect that is just as difficult as the ones you listed. Wish me luck!

  • @theeclecticgent502

    Queen's are one of the most difficult anthuriums to keep alive they like lots of humidity and are finicky as heck I have 6 lol they are epiphytic so tree fern or a really barky mix works but I've had the most successful with just sphagnum and perlite and going total soilless I potted my most recent in pon because every seems to have the best luck with that.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That blurb you were reading was kinda incorrect lol.. I have alocasia all in pon or fluval and they love it they aren't something you can let root on water usually but they for sure can stay wet. When you let them dry out in my experience even just a little that's when they start to yellow and drop leaves.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      LOL! 😆 it’s hard to find the full truth isn’t it? I have been down to the one leaf since I did that video. The two little leaves died. It’s been in a plastic pot with airy mix and I’m just now getting a new leaf. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching my video that means a lot! I may end up in PON at some point. Hi! Happy to have found you! Perhaps edema. Perhaps it’s the oldest leaf and because you have a new one coming it’s using the nutrients to the new leaf and discarding the old. This is a normal process. I’ve had this happen to me and I don’t worry because if it’s giving me growth and the roots are happy then I figure all is well. Edema happens mostly with inconsistent watering. If you ever see little droplets of water on the tips of your leaves in the morning that could be a sign. I’m also new to the hobby. About a year and a half now. Anthurium have become my obsession and through trial and error I have learned a lot. Hope this helps. Happy growing!

      With anthuriums as long as they are giving growth they are usually good they will take a lot of energy out of older leaves to make new which will make the smaller older leaves yellow. as far as the specks anthurium leaves are super sensitive and fragile. Even touching one emerging or being rubbed up against during shipping could leave a scar on the front or back or both of the leaf.i think this was shipping scars as I call em. Edema would look like a bruise usually the dripping of water is called guttation and is basically your plant sweating never had this with my Anthurium but I guess it could happen. I use osmocote also and have rooms of Anthurium lol they are usually heavy feeders and really require a good fertilizer but a lot could burn them because again leaves and roots are sensitive. I usually just put a few balls in the soil and don't mix in my soil. The dried root at the top was probably an Ariel root during growth that rotted from too much water or dried out due to not enough probably at the greenhouse. I think you did good just putting him back in. also leaving yellowing leaves on or I would because if you cut that off while the plant is using it for energy it may start taking it from another again casing yellowing. Hope this helps 😊. You got this, I don't know how many plants I've killed learning lol.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@theeclecticgent502 Wow thank you so much for reaching out to me and explaining this so in depth. I guess it makes sense a new leaf would need energy from another. Will that older leaf die off is that how it works? Only my Palidiforum sweats, my Queens do not. My Monstera, Alocasia and Colocasia’s sweat as I call it. I will for sure be careful on fertilizing I use Jack’s Fertilizer 20-20-20 every two weeks it says. I will simply use it every other watering. 15:28 I had the best luck with FedEx delivery for all my plants. USPS lost so many of my plant orders, I refuse to use them! And my two favorite online stores are Steve's Leaves and Josh's Frogs (a lot of pet friendly plants).

      @LeafyConversations A corm is nearly a free plant. You said you had a vid saved on how to grow it when it's ready. I haven't found any corms in my alocasias yet but they are looking so lovely, I'm not game to mess around with them. I think I have about 20 and I just keep them moist all the time and I never have any trouble unless a pest gets to them. An outside pest just flew into my television screen. I must have brought it in on my clothes 😱 I have an absolute plague of leaf beetles on my dahlias. If they're inside I'm doomed.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nikkihamson2586 I do have one saved. I am with you I haven’t had the desire to try growing my own. My goal isn’t to propagate the same plant over and over I like new. Hahahahaha. Thank you for subscribing to my channel Nikki that means so much to me!!!! 🫶🏻 I am absolutely fearful of pests coming into my house on my plants!!! Keep me updated!

      @LeafyConversations I really love propagating but then I tend to give plants away to visitors. 2 leaf beetles have now been squished on my TV screen. I'm terrified because of the damage they did to my dahlias. I've sprayed and sprayed and there are still THOUSANDS. I think I'll have to get some stronger poison but I have kale growing right next to the dahlias. I feed the kale to my cockatiels so I'm worried about the poison. There's no kale atm anyway because the leaf beetles have eaten everything. I had a lively little herb garden that started to get aphids and I handed my daughter a spray bottle and said go get em. Unfortunately I gave her the wrong bottle. We no longer have aphids but we can't eat anything from the herb garden for 6 months. Oh the dramas of planty life.

    • @LeafyConversations
      @LeafyConversations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not an outdoor gardener, but we had those awful Beatles attacking on of our new young maple trees with the purple leaves and killed it. They are brutally hard to get rid of. I’m sorry about your herb garden 🥺. You might want to invest in an outdoor enclosed shower 🧼 before going back into the house so they don’t ride in on you. Reminds me of those stink bugs. 😣

    It’s a pink dragon. I have many and leaf will grow just fine you don’t need to put paper towels! You should grow it in a chunky around soil mix, your mix most likely won’t hold enough moisture they don’t want to sit in wet soil but if drys out too fast plant won’t be happy. They are heavy feeders and will likely have a fit and drop leaves.
