EASY~BIOCUBE 16G Nano Tank Build
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Building a saltwater aquarium doesn't have to be hard guys! For years I was intimidated by complicated lingo and set ups- I never thought I would have my own aquarium. I decided to just go for it! Like this video and subscribe to see how my tank grows over these next few months :) Any feedback, tips or comments are welcome! I want to learn together!
Thank you! I wish I would have found this video sooner. The local aquarium store sent me to your page.
To be clear, channel 1 (white) are full on and full off at the times programmed, channel 2 (beauty) have a **30 minute** ramp up and ramp down that begins at the time you set (so setting 10a / 730p means "start at 10a and reach full potential at 1030a, then start dimming at 730p and be completely off at 800p), while channel 3 (blue) have a **60 minute** ramp up/down from the set time. In the example in the video, the blues (start at 930a) will only be at half brightness when the beauty (start at 10a) first start ramping up, and they would reach full brightness together at 1030a before being joined by the white lights at 11a. There's nothing wrong with this setup, everyone's tank is different, but just be aware of the different ramp times.

Tank update?
Max size seems to be 45 cm (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_boxfish)
Really didn’t need to know about your outside lighting or any static sounds, not what I came in for, too much talk about nothing.
If you dont have coral is this light schedule still good?
Hey I hope you’ve looked into humble fish’s method of tank swap save sick fish you get for a discount
So whats up with the 2 year update?
Love the shroom
Thanks love it
Tiffany, this is way different than how I read the factory settings and honestly make more sense. I am going with yours. Thank you.
Tiffany, I've been in the hobby for a long time. Best advice I can give you is to go slow. Don't add a lot to the tank quickly. Resist the temptation to make it look great all at once. On average, it takes about a year and half for your tank to look like the great ones you see on TH-cam. Good luck!
Dam this helps a lot, but is there a way to make the light way more blue and less white
With the biocube you can choose from some preset colors which includes some pretty blue colors. I'll put the instructions below... Press MENU and then use the UP or DOWN arrows to search for your desired program. •ALL = All LEDs will turn on (at full power) •LC1 = Only Daytime LEDs will turn on •LC2 = Only Sunrise/Sunset LEDs will turn on(They will start at low power and increaseincrementally over 30 minutes) •LC3 = Only Moon Glow LEDs will turn on(They will start at low power and increaseincrementally over 60 minutes)
@@tiffanygipson5356 thanks so much
Love the diagram . Thank you. 😊
Thank you Tiffany. This was a wonderful breakdown. The Biocube manufacturer can take a lesson on how to explain the light reaming. All they’d need is to show a chart just like you did. Excellent!! Thanks again.
I'm glad it helped :-) you're welcome!
Thank you!! I just got a biocube and placed it exactly what you said. Have you updated your timing since this video was posted ? If so, do you have an update
Hi lovely! I currently travel for work, so I am without a tank but the light setting worked great for me :-) IF you end up having too much algae, you should decrease the white light length of time.
Awww love your tank and your cute
Beautiful job I can’t wait to see more!
You might want a powerhead
Knowledgeable compared to some with way much more subs. Remember it take time to build up a channel. Keep it up and good luck!
Feel bad for scuarly, she was a cute little box of gills. Thanks for the video 😊
I have a boxy as my main centre-piece. However Ive seen them wipe out entire tanks in friends tanks with less experience. Easy to keep but expert to never let it experience stress which is as bad as 'any' disease :) tho these toxins I belive do kill the ich
Hey :)) next time don’t worry about QT with white spot…it’s stressful, hard and almost impossible to keep ammonia low (no sand etc.)….dose with hydrogen peroxide 3%…google the method. This kills swimmers after Ich eggs hatch. So yes, you have to wait a few days for that phase. But then bam! It’s not going to rid ich in your tank 100%. But it works well to severely suppress them. Then grab a UV filter.
I was confused before your video helped a lot
Your second timer is colour enhancing lights that have a 30 minute ramp up and down. It is not the sunrise and sunset. Plus 8 full hours of white lights on the biocubes will produce lots of algae. Educate yourself before educating other people.
Best explanation on setting these lights! Thanks so much.
Great video, explained very well. I'm new to this and setting up a freshwater Biocube 32. I'm trying to keep things simple with low maintenance. Any suggestions for length of time for 1, 2 and 3 so that I minimize algae?
Thank you so much. And your right, setting clock wasn't explained well, so I was having trouble. You made it so easy 💚💚💚
hi i like most your fish nice video
Thanks
I have a question if anyone can help me. I have a 32 Biocube, but have decided I don’t want corals. I just have live rock, fish, and a few invertebrates. Problem is, the algae in my tank it out of control! Can someone let me know of a more suitable light for my tank (so I can replace the Biocube hood) or tell me how to set my lighting for my fish and invertebrates so it’s enough light for them to thrive, but not too much light so that I’m literally having to scrape algae every single day? If someone can tell me where I can buy a more suitable hood/lighting system to replace the one I have I’d really really appreciate it! TIA
From all that I reseach and talking to my lfs...the light and complete dark should be equal.
So if your blurs go off at 10 ...then after 10 the tank is dark?
Thanks for explaining this! The biocube’s directions were crap! And ps - you have beautiful eyes, you lucky girl!
Thanks.
You saved my soul today lol. Thanks for the easy step-by-step easy to understand tutorial 😁
Thx! I accidentally unplugged my lights... were good now : )
Thank you for the tutorial and you have beautiful eyes…
Um thank you! Finally 🐠🐟
Dang u cute 😩😫🥰🥰
This video was soo helpful because you explained everything so well, and its the most recent video of this particular fish. I have a few questions i have a 20 gal and I had 4 fish in their one baby humu trigger, 3 damsels, and 1 clownfish. As of right now 3 are dead. I change the water once a week, The clownfish and the 2 blue damsels died from tail rot. I had been medicating the water with bacterial medicine about once everyday and I have one fish left I raised the temperature to 90 and its been like that for about three days and Today, May 17, 2021, I set the temperature back to a range of 75. The damsel I have looks fine, its swimming, eating, breathing fine, and its hiding normally but I am really worried it will die as well. I did notice my Nitrites were high so i did a 50 % water change over the recommended 25 and the went much lower. Any suggestions or theories as to why they been dyeing?
Where did you get the saltwater from
I get 5 gallon jugs filled up at my local fish store, but if you have the space, id highly recommend installing an RO/DI system in the future and mixing your own saltwater to save money!
Holy Moly! Thank you SO much for this vid. The instructions that came with my BC32 were about as clear as mud. Your simple Post-It note about how you set up the lighting schedule was simply genius. Thanks, again. BTW, beautiful eyes you have :-).
You're welcome and thank you so much!!
Finally! A tutorial on this dagblasted thing that I could understand and actually replicate! Thank you! 🙌
Glad it helped!
Hi-I'm thinking of starting a nano reef tank jand was looking at this exact model, so found your first video and about to watch the rest of your updates too-great job! I wanted to ask about your live rock; did you buy the various pieces and stack them? They're not fitted together in any other way? Nice arrangement. Also, which heater did you choose? And the light you added in the back-that's for the chaeto? Thanks!
Hi!! Yes, I bought individual live rock pieces and just stacked them together. You could glue them together with reef safe glue if you're worried about them falling but mine have been perfectly fine! I forget the exact heater I have but its just a cheap heater I picked up at a petco that automatically keeps the temperature regulated but if you go cheaper I recommend replacing it every 1-2 years so you don't have a malfunction and wipe out your tank. The light in the back was an LED light from amazon, very cheap and easy to find.
@@tiffanygipson5356 many thanks!
Hey how you doing I have a quick question I have a 16 gallon bio cube I absolutely love it but I have one quick question on the pump that sitting way in the bottom does that give off heat a little bit because I’m having a very hard time trying to keep my temp at a steady you know temperature and I’m wondering if the motor is giving off a little bit of heat or the lights are can you let me know
I've never had an issue with the pump giving off heat. Its more likely that your lights are but I couldn't imagine they would cause that much of an issue. Do you have a small heater in the tank? I keep one in the back chamber (sump area) and it keeps my temperature regulated all the time!
@@tiffanygipson5356 I have to keep on adjusting to the heater I’m not sure if somethings wrong with the heater but it seems like the lights to give off a little bit I’m just not sure what’s going on I could be wrong with the lights or wrong with the pump I highly doubt the pumps given after he never heard of it I’m just gonna have to keep on adjusting to either until I get it just right or get a new one
@@radicalran2482 I would just try to get a new one and return it if it doesn't correct the problem. And then well back to the drawing board.
@@tiffanygipson5356 How was yours work at it is it right at the same temperature that you wanted it to be I’m trying something totally different with mine I’m hoping I’m hoping that when I’m going to try work so I lower down the heater a little bit and I moved it away from where the heat sources I put it up against the wall where it doesn’t have a wall heater next to it so I want to see if that corrects the problem I had it in the corner where the heat must’ve been risingKeeping it warm and thinking that might’ve been the problem so I wanna try something overnight and see what happens in the morning but when you have a chance can you check out radical Rands videos and give me a thumbs up and explain that would be awesome if you could do that for me thank you
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! Your the best of all!!.
By the way your blues ramp down for an hour so they will really be all the way off at 11
Is that OK? Or what time should it be set at ?
Thank you im New in the hobby and this give some guide for the schedule... awesome video
glad I can help :-)

mine too
