    It's the same way as ab traning but vice versa, you have to do rounded back to train your back instead of hammstrings and gluteus

    How often would you do this in a week and sets/reps?

    • @dewittphysicaltherapy
      @dewittphysicaltherapy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would work on this 2-3x/week. To start, just hold that position 5x10 seconds. For more intermediate, cycle the arm movements and perform 3 sets of 8-10 reps/arm. It's less about the arms and more about building endurance in the low back, thoracic spine and glutes in that position, and is modulated by using the arms and makes it more sport specific.

    Great example but where exactly are the pads being placed?

    • @dewittphysicaltherapy
      @dewittphysicaltherapy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wherever you want to focus the activation or which muscles you want to sync. Oftentimes we use pads on both the abs and low back to set the core and then we use additional channels and pads to sync the quads and glutes, but can also target the adductors and hamstrings.

    Would this not stress the lumbar? What about people with low back issues?

    • @dewittphysicaltherapy
      @dewittphysicaltherapy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any hinge movement is going to increase the demand on the lumbar spine - but that is where endurance -> strength training progression is important. The KB swing is an ADVANCED move for anyone dealing with low back issues, as we want to be sure the muscles can support the whole spine and in the right sequence for loaded movements before progressing to explosive, power movements like the KB swing.

    Eugh, tell me about it. I'm rehabbing an adductor tear and just as I feel I'm coming out of this hell, something trivial or "innocuous" as you put it will happen and I feel like I'm at square one again. So, so, so frustrating. I coach under 12 girls soccer but haven't been able to kick a ball for about 10 months. I'm doing all the right physio but life and little accidents/my clumsiness just sets me back!

    • @dewittphysicaltherapy

      The adductors are a significant muscle group in the lower leg, and often neglected! To build a resilient lower leg and hip complex, it's important to work the WHOLE leg. And it helps to focus on those muscles for injury prevention, especially in sports that move laterally:)

      The question becomes what function do the adductor muscles serve? They are responsible for moving your leg inward so when you do a cross over with your legs, for instance. More importantly, they provide stability to the pelvis since one of the attachments of the adductors is at the pelvis.

    Would the Neubie be good for someone with MS that still has all range of motion and is almost symptom free? I know Terry Wahls uses one.

    • @dewittphysicaltherapy
      @dewittphysicaltherapy ปีที่แล้ว

      The Neubie works great to reinforce muscle activation patterns and diminish "hot spots" or neurologically sensitive areas so as such this can be a useful modality for someone with MS, even with mild impairments.

    Hey, that's my previous physical therapist, Elijah! He's awesome if anyone is wondering. Very knowledgeable , but most importantly, he genuinely cares about the people he is trying to help! I went in for physical therapy after ACL surgery and noticed a huge improvement when I started working with him. I was also doing P.T with other therapists , but felt like I wasn't making much progress based on ACL post-op guidelines. Thank you Elijah! Sincerely, Maricela Arteaga
