Eu conheci essa música através de TWD
I really like this version compared to the others.
Watching Jen introduce this song always kills me, knowing how much they both grew to resent playing it. I cannot imagine how frustrating it would be to have people compartmentalize, to oversimplify, to reduce your art into one song played during a short sequence on a television show. The Walking Dead didn’t turn me onto Wye Oak, Andy and Jen did.
This version of this song brims with so much life from both its conductors that I am completely floored every time I play this video. This ephemeral moment has been lodged in my heart, even as nothing but an observer, for many years - and I expect it will remain there for many years to come. Though its creators may grow and change in so many amazing ways, and though the artists themselves may understandably have a much different connection to this song, I will forever appreciate the passion and the emotion that happened to be captured at this point in time. I first heard this song in its album version, in high school, the year it came out. This is the song that made me want to take guitar seriously, because out of all the sensational music I'd heard up to that point, this was the first band that instilled an understanding of what "music" means which I carry to this day: music can be a landscape, a place to feel and to experience in ways that a purely rational reality cannot yield; an experiential layer of reality which we cannot fully describe, because it is purely the reality of experience, and of feeling. This is the song that started me on the path toward understanding music as being a part of our reality that connects to the archetypal fabric of ourselves, and that perspective has shaped so much of my reality. Though you will hopefully never read it, to Jenn and Andy, thank you so much for allowing yourselves to express and to feel, then and today; not just Wye Oak, but over the years adding on Joyero and Flock of Dimes have, together, been 3 of my favorite music projects for the last 10 years. It's not about TV shows or specific sets, it's about the deep connection between feeling and rhythm that you, as artists, have both done so much to incarnate. Thank you so much for expressing yourselves in such a way that I could hear you, and creating art that I could bring within myself not just to create on my own, but to heal. Thank you for helping me understand music in a different (honest; passionate; experiential) way. I am so excited to see what you both create from here - and if I never get to see it, all the more honest. Tl;dr Wye Oak recreated music for me and no amount of talent or skill can replace the emotional impact they've had on me
I think i found her, i will call her La luz de mi vida
すごくいい❤
When I first hears that song on the walking dead it really got me. WOW can just imagine what it was like for this audience.
`letter` I am nothin' without pretend I know my thoughts Can't live with them I am nothin' without a man I know my faults, but I can't hide them I still keep my baby teeth In the bedside table with my jewelry You still sleep in the bed with me My jewelry and my baby teeth I don't need another friend When most of them I can barely keep up with Them perfectly able to hold my own hand But I still can't kiss my own neck I wanted to give you everything But I still stand in awe of superficial things I wanted to love you like my mother's, mother's, mother's did Civilian
Oh wow, I just love her voice!
impossível ver essa música e não lembrar de TWD
This could be tolerable but they need to hire a proper singer, not one that sounds like she is humming to herself while sitting on a toilet. 🤔
I play this song and try the impossible, understand the singers interpretation. What is your interpretation? I think mine is skewed by the fact my culture we do keep our childrens baby teeth and maybe that's a metaphor or maybe I like this song so much I'm over thinking it! Perhaps I'm missing certain references? Or does the fact that I heard this song on a Walking Dead episode for the first time, makes me feel like its a song of just hoping of some type of normality/helpless situation !?!?!? see?? Just glad we all like this tune! :)
The baby teeth are like her relationship. She’s still holding on to her relationship even though she knows it’s over, just like how she’s holding on to her baby teeth even though they represent childhood innocence that she has lost.
Baby teeth!
I just keep on coming back here for some soul healing ♥️ Shout out from South Africa to the world 🙋🏾♂️
breaks in her voice explains even more than this excellent song
she found a perfect voice match for her tune and song, something that singers don't see this days cuz of autotune
