What am I now that I was then? May memory restore again and again The smallest color of the smallest day: Time is the school in which we learn, Time is the fire in which we burn. Delmore Schwartz

Anybody have photos of the old Sanraku Club? Message me if you do - thanks!
hmmm truckin wasn't first played until '70 Fillmore West
'68 was a horrible year for America. You can see the difference when you look at Monterey in '67 and then Woodstock in '69. The kids at Monterey were full of hope, love and Flower Power. By Woodstock in '69, they looked tired, burned out, and more cynical. I think Chicago has a lot to do with it as well as Tet.
Everyone got along until they ran out of amphetamines.

I was there! I think.
It looks like even the gospel of Christ was accepted in those days_ unlike today where that lady who was presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ there would literally be attacked today.
Wow I noticed that there was a woman there presenting the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and there was no trouble people didn't get upset like you see today the year 2024 like when someone is preaching the gospel of Christ like that in public they are attacked literally😮 there is so much hatred for the things of God in America it boggles the mind. I guess back in the 60s there was more reverence for Christ Jesus and fear for God's laws.
These hippies are now Maga supporters.
First major CIA push to get rid of Christianity
Why did they pick S.F. to gather ??
1. At the time San Francisco was protected by Dirty Harry. 2. Outdoor concerts were during the summer....Drive less than 25-30 miles east that part of California is an oven.

I was there banged 2 hippie chicks and got the clap
As a Johnson Jr Hi student living in North Area, I'd miss the bus and have to run to the northern-most Terminal Gate near flight-line and out onto the Hwy and wave down another bus going to Johnson. I was lucky, always getting a ride the few times I had to do that dumb stunt. Sixth-Seventh Grade 1961-63. Sad day when we went home to USA 3/63. Big culture shock to be back in US having been in Japan from 3rd-7th grade... still can speak and understand lots of Japanese and am loving the New Shogun. Ironically went to school w my future husband in 3rd grade at Grant Heights!!
It looks like they are on speed or had too much sugar.

So Wonderful Man , Thank you for the Upload :) QC
Hare Krishna's were everywhere.
Hadn't the Grateful Dead moved out of the Haight by 68?
To James To well I agree totally n I knew Scott McKenzie when I was a preteen our family used to go to Don McKenzie's house for dinner n such as my parents were friends of his. He was Scott's father and n entertainer in the Detroit area who played in bars n clubs n had records my Dad always played. Scott was about 5 yrs older than me. So sad at his demise. RIP Scott!!!
I'm 67 and still luv'n the Dead.. Europe '72 is a great album set.. Then we're the days, pass that bone.. 😊😊
So many memories of when we were stationed at Johnson AB and the festivals we went to. I remember walking to the town by myself or w a friend to just window shop. Wow it’s been 50 years and I’d forgotten some of this.
Truckin.. Greatful Dead
Of course none of these people had a clue the C.I.A. was fronting the Haight Ashbury "Free" Medical Clinic.🙄😒
Dude at 1:35 is probably saying: "Here kid, drink this, because it will help you dance less like a white person....Seriously man! You watching yo daddy bust a move?!? The only thing he is going to bust up is ME....From laughing too hard at watching him move....Ohh look! He's dancing better now that he realizes he just stepped in dog shit!!"
The 60s and 70s were a time of great changes in society, and the economy was good until the Reaganites took over in the eighties with their austerity programs. Now we have a huge homelessness problem.
The Grateful Dead's song "Truckin'," which we hear on the sountrack here, is from 1970, not '68. Otherwise, nice vid.
'Truckin' didn't come out until 1970
Where is the time machine? How can we get the planet back on track? Finally got to visit in April 88 ✌️ Where has all the flowers gone? I still believe in the dream. Love @ Peace Is the Ultimate Revolution
Can't take boomers serious when I see this kind of stuff.
Isn't that the same generation that would end up being the greedy money loving, over consumption seeking parents of the eighties that would eventually start the war on drugs campaign. 😉 Oh the times they are a changing 🙄. 🤗🌻
Классное время!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️люблю хиппи,!!!драгоценные кадры!👍👍👍🔥🔥
Don't kid yourself. 60's still live.
Showa start of industrialization. My relative had a farm along Rte 16. I like that time. ルノ-- car.
Trucks back then is memorable.
Looks great! My dream is to find old travel films from Japan on 8mm or super8! If you bring the speed down 80%, it should be about the correct speed!. Lovely footage
El tiempo del festival de woostock los bipiess flores paz amor no a vietnam
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was there. I planted a rose bush. We all helped shape it and landscape it and those that couldn't do physical work did other things. Food Not Bombs started right there, giving food to any and all. I can't work or demonstrate any more. Arthritis and being 82 has cut into my protest ability.
Manson had already recruited most of his followers and within a year he would bring the summer of love to a screeching halt.
summer of love was '67
And they became Republicans! God still doesn't have mercy on us

I hate Flashbacks. And Hippie culture has been so suppressed in the US. I lived in the Haight. And I saw some of my old friends. God I miss it so much. Every time I got together with Jerry Garcia all we would talk about was the Haight. It was so hard to go on living without it.We would always ask the question about what happened, where did it go. And Jerry would say,"When I looked out the window and saw the National Guard with fixed bayonets then I knew that America was a Fascist country!"
BS
Well, we're in their somewhere. And we are together today! A friend, Johnny would pull posters off the phone poles. No big deal. In 2006 he showed them to me. Some are worth $$thousands today. Like the skull with roses. others.
It was basically a freak show. Not much was accomplished. But they had a lot of fun trying. It's a bunch of well-intentioned rebel nerds and geeks that were high as hell on weed and acid. My father was a cab driver at the time, and would give tourists a ride down to Haight-Ashbury all the time. He just thought all the kids were a bunch of freaks. I was just two years old at the time. But now, 50 years later, they're running our country and legalizing marijuana. NOW they're accomplishing something. Hey!!!!!!
Holy smokes I can smell the patchouli from here in the future. LOL Just kidding. I'll have what they're having...
