I do believe Screaming Lod Such featuring Rihie Blackmore before Prple did this as well
Hey everyone! Just a quick note: I mistakenly wrote in the script that the Porsche 911 was released half a decade ago when I actually meant half a century ago. My bad!
Cool little bit of history, thanks!
thank you for commenting! I'm glad you liked the video 🤘
The real question is Who gives a fuck
Was released more than “A half century ago”
Yes, I meant century! I didn’t realize the mistake until you pointed it out, so thanks for letting me know! I really appreciate it 🤘
Alice Cooper Author Brown Christian Death Kiss Samhain Mercyful Fate/King Diamond Misfits W.A.S.P and pretty much every early goth /deathrock band...
Merciful Fate is so late to the scene. Not even in the picture
Wes Borland?????????? 0:27
Slipknot
You are right by saying that Kiss is the first band to wear makeup
What a great video. I love the red special, it is by far my favorite guitar. Thanks for this. Rock on 🤘
Thanks for commenting! I'm glad you liked it 🎸🤘
Quality stuff. Underrated as hell
thanks so much! It means a lot 🤘
As with Brian May's video, the music in the intro was recorded by me (the guy who runs this channel). I tried my best to do a Slash impression; I’m not sure how accurate it is, so please keep an open mind while listening and imagine it’s Slash playing 😂
Secos & Molhados
New York City Dolls...
EZO, and still the best at it.
This is such a nice video! Surprised it has so little voice. Brian May is the person who inspired me to play the guitar in the first place. Hopefully this absolutely timeless piece does not get sold at an auction but gets put into a museum!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the video! That guitar is definitely a piece of music history, it should be in a museum forever 🎸🤘
The idea that a guitar player can build, own, play, and tour with the same guitar for 60 years while being this successful is insane. Brian May and his guitar are legendary.
It's insane! Absolutely one of a kind 🎸
Legendary guitar of a legendary musician from a legendary band
YES! 🎸🤘
“Bobby Terre” fue el cantor enmascarado desde 1957 hasta 1960. luego se dedicó al tango con su nombre real: Roberto Rufino. éste fue el primero de todos (estoy casi seguro). saludos
The music in the intro (from 0:00 to 0:49) was recorded by me, the guy who runs this channel. I did my best to 'mimic' Brian's guitar playing and sound, but yeah, there's only one Brian May on earth... so don’t be too hard on me 😂
Not to be that guy, but I feel like a distinction needs to be made between make-up and face paint. There were bands wearing makeup to look androgynous way back in the 60s. Im not actually sure when face paint started. You can't sue over make-up. You might have a case with face paint if the designs are too similar. Yes I know, I'm an ass. Apologies.
I haven't yet finished the video but I got through the comments. God, those stupid Lars defenders... There are things about Lars that deserve praise. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. Stop making fools of yourselves. Every Metallica fan knows that his drum parts back in the day were AWESOME. That he's very important for the band. That he - OH MY GOD - has MONEY! That's the most ridiculous f-ing defend point for anyone. This is not why he is hated! In my generation, let's put it this way, he's hated because right after St.Anger he just stopped practicing and IT REALLY SHOWED. People went to shows and were dissapointed with how blatantly lazy he was. Later I discovered by watching the live videos he's been lazy since the freaking 80s. That's treating your fans like dirt. That's legitimate criticism. It's so pathetic, all those people whining about "STOP HATING ON POOR LARS", blablalba. Making stupid excuses, pointing fingers, mixing things up. Good is good, everyone knows that. Bad is bad. The same way it's become a custom to bash Kirk. I'm not the one doing it but he brought it upon himself exactly the way Lars did. For years he's been sloppy and everyone ignored that. Until more recently it's gotten out of proportion. When you can't do your job at a decent level and your way of dealing with it is consciously doing nothing about it - sooner or later people are gonna start being really dissapointed. The more slappy and not_caring you are - the more severe it's gonna be. It's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with management, with doing a lot for the band, with making arrangements, with this and that, with HAVING MONEY (so everyone should shut up), god...
Slayer, Venom, Motley Crue. Twisted Sisted, W.A.S.P, Poison. Every INDUSTRIAL band from it's beginnings to now. N.I.N ( likely just for videos) Mudvayne, Marilyn Manson
Alice Cooper ❤ King Diamond 🤘🏻
An even more extreme example is Misfits and its skull mascot, it´s ways more famous than the band itself
I for one was mesmerized by their artwork even before I heard their music. Iron Maiden truly benefited from Eddie but they also benefited a lot from Derrek Riggs version of it. The 'new' Eddies aren't anywhere as cool as the older ones.
Iron maidens music is what gets me into it. Eddie is cool but iron maiden never talks about its mascot in any of its music so I just forget that Eddie exists when jamming to the band, I think iron maiden would still be a popular band even without the use of eddie
I knew it wasn't KISS, no matter what Gene Simmons likes to claim. But via one of my relatives as a kid I was fully aware of who Arthur Brown was and looked like, so knew any claims to the contrary to be bull.
I think in the begining the artwork is what caught attention from people, so they bought albums and listened. But what made ghem keep on listening wasn't the artwork but definetly the music. So of course Eddy helped them go where they are, but it was only help, and they got here thanks to their music
I remember, as a little kid in the late 80's, seeing my brothers backpatch of Eddie as a Mummy biting down on a chain with lightning all around and thinking "Wow this band must be so heavy!". I was already used to hearing Slayer and some Early Death Metal from my brothers room so when a friend of the family played me some Iron Maiden I still remember being so extremely underwhelmed from what I was hearing. Feels like that's somewhat of a theme of the 80's. This extreme artwork for albums and video games and, at least looking back at it, the product never living up to the hype it was given. (Not shitting on Maiden, they're great.)
Ariel Bender.
Eddie is the reason maiden has remained relevant even tho they haven’t released good music since 1990
0:05 porsche they have a horse logo right
Maiden is the only band that can get away with wearing their own t-shirts on stage and look cool instead of looking like assholes
Zappa
Klaus Nomi but he was not the first also adam ant
yes is song was ill put a spell on you
Norman Greenbaum ,..spirit in The sky
0:30 wrong The Fiend from The Misfits. (There’s a kid wearing the Fiend Skull shirt in the 1990 Ninja Turtles movie. The Misfits Fiend skull is the MOST popular band mascot, Eddie in a not too distant second place.
Uhh, Gwar!
Marilyn Manson is still hands down the absolute greatest at this
Bob dylan😮
Sweet did it early (not first but early) 😍🤘🎸🥰
I discovered maiden at a tender young age of around 8 because of Eddie… 44 and still love them 🤘🏻
If Gene Simmons was honest, he would admit to having seen secos e molhados and been influenced by their look. Wouldn't hold my breath though.
You were under a microscope... well done
Ozzy Osborne
Secos e molhados!!
This is the answer to where KISS got their ideas from.
Take a look at the official fanclub forum and you'll be blown away by all sorts of shit that we buy: aprons, corks, socks, underwear, literally anything that is completely irrelevant to a musical format because those in themselves are honestly out of control with Japanese releases and shit... A Maiden fan is a blessing and a curse at the same time, just few days ago when they released the 2025 tour ticket presale, we said goodbye to a large part of the money that we put aside for that specific purpose
