The Jugodias - Mamou
มุมมอง 1.3K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This is one of the best renditions of Mamou I have ever come across. This is courtesy of a live performance by Tolo Freddy Akivambo with the Jugodias Band at Funcity Gardens in Utawala, Nairobi. I think here is none of the most upcoming rumba musicians in Kenya. The audio is a bit off but that is the best I could get under the circumstances. Enjoy!

Anyone who grew up these sides of the clouds and had a taste for African music will remember this song with nostalgia. As children, we often improvised hilarious lyrics to the music, having no knowledge of Lingala then. In fact, it would be a long time before I realized that the language of the song was not one of the Luhya dialects of Western Kenya! It is very hard to come by this song. If you...

This Golden Oldie which unfortunately has all but disappeared from circulation was shared with me by a friend with a cool taste in music. This upload is for those with a taste for the golden era of East African Music, and no copyright infringements are intended. Part 2 coming soon!

From Zambia, 2024🎉.❤
Nothing to say. But my grandchildren should be brought up differently with respect and work ethics. What we perceive as an easy and comfortable life ruins our children, our posterity and brings regrets regrets when its too late to recover 😭😭
Reminds of my School Captain in secondary school. His name is Samuel Angwenyi and he liked this song so much, back in 1979
I remember this song as it was played in the radio Sauti ya Kenya then,it was on Jamhuri day.
Those days is when we completed our exams that's C P E 😅❤
Please upload mama mayasa pt 1

Old is Gold!
This song never ages
Nyimbozazamanipiazikuwa,zafunfishasamaishayawatu
Nakumbuka kipindi hicho nasasahivi tofautisana
During my primary school days i was in love with this song
Just to see flags of the three main East Africa countries makes me very happy, we are one and will always be one forever although now we have become seven Nations but the three original remains the best at the foundation and forever one.
Used to hear it kitambo Sana, wonderful song
One of my best ever.It drove me crazy in my teenage.
Old is gold indeed
When I joined Alliance High School for A level studies in 1981, my Livingstone House Captain-Kazungu Lughanje kept singing this song till I liked it!! Very nice song projection. Memories.
😂 happy you are here Busherian! I am also a Livingstonian. I listened to this one so much while doing missionary work in Masai land in 2008. I am Busherian of year 97! Am happy this song from the country of my childhood TZ still give you nostalgia!
well in '82 i was still strugling trying to reach my ear with my hand over the head so that i could be allowed to start school. Back then VoK radio would hit the airwaves from 6am this was among the top hits of the day that played on VoK. Nostalgic indeed

Chalse Ray Kazembe came to Kenya accompanying his cousin Mbaraka Mwinchehe with Super Volcano which was renamed so after Morogoro jazz. After the death of Mbaraka in a road accident in Mombasa on 1-01-1979 Kazongo and several other left behind by Mwinchehe formed Les Volcano.Mohammed Mjato,Bulldozer Daniel etel.In their final years they used to perform at Dandora cinema hall.Kazembe died depressed in early days of 90's and buried in Machakos county kwa bibi yake
Beautiful history.
I never knew Ray Kasembe was a Tanzanian. I thought he was a Miji Kenda from the Coast Province. He oozed rare talent. RIP

Memories of early 80s
Im almost be sure the number was played by a band based here in Kampala just as Amin was falling. Salongo is a Ganda word for father of twins and that's who Yusufu Lule was.

Arap Moi akoloba, tosala musala yeye tobongisa mboka
Araambeee.... Nyaaayoooo! 😆
Salongo Fanya kazi!! Jenga nchi kama vile tulivyo agizwa na mababu zetu.
On Part II
My all time favourite song, though I don't understand any of the words used apart from, Harambee,Moi and Nyayo.
Good old music. It had no proper meaning to us then but has enormous now that we are parents.
Thankyou so much. Iko wapi muziki yenye mawaidha kama haya siku hizi? Siku hizi ni mapenzi, mapenzi na matusi tu.
