i used to be able to purchase a restless leg remedy that contained quinine. when that was pulled from the market, i started drinking tonic water (containing quinine). There are some effective herbal remedies that are still available, but you do need to vet/know your sources. Never heard of the toothpaste thing ~ you are joshing, right? Some people do swear by a bar of soap between the sheets (never figured out what that was supposed to do, maybe wake you up if you stub your toe?)
