Sierra Buttes Trails Stewardship
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 พ.ค. 2018
Building sustainable recreation-based communities through stewardship, job creation and world-class events. Providing quality outdoor experiences through trail construction and maintenance in the Lost Sierra.
Connected Communities creates a vision for a recreation-focused lifestyle through community investment, shared stewardship, economic opportunity and important new local jobs, all benefiting economically disadvantaged communities in California’s Plumas, Sierra, Butte and Lassen Counties.
A key to Connected Communities the proposed “Lost Sierra Route”, which traverses 300 miles over breathtaking topography, jagged peaks and high alpine meadows similar to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). This route will allow for hikers, mountain bikers, moto riders, equestrians, trail runners, hunters, fishermen, wildlife, grandmothers and babies in backpacks. A trail for all to use that will link mountain communities together for recreational adventure and economic sustainability.

A Vision To Strengthen Rural Communities
Connected Communities is an SBTS-led, community-driven vision for economic revitalization in the Lost Sierra using trails as the tool. Five years ago, SBTS received a planning grant from Sierra Nevada Conservancy to further develop the concept, and in that time, we've put together a proposal for how singletrack trails can connect rural communities, based on a broad range of public and community input. Connected Communities envisions bringing various trail users groups into these small, mountain communities to recreate, which will ultimately help stimulate their economies. This video highlights some of the work done so far around Quincy and the Mount Hough trail network, and the potential community benefits to this vision coming to fruition in the future. One of the best SBTS weekends of the year! The Downieville Mountain Epic took place August 17 & 18 up at Packsaddle Campground. Another 20 folks wer...

Lovein clean mother Yuba.
Good stuff guys. Keep it up!!
High quality trail - yes!
If you need confirmation, IT IS WORKING! My friend and I come up from Southern California every year to enjoy the trails, and the expanding network keeps us coming back. We buy local beer, eat local food and purchase local supplies. Keep up the great work and we will keep supporting you and your communities.
Wonderful to hear! Thank you for the feedback, and for the support!
Right on! Thanks for all the hard work you guys are doing!
Love seeing this all come together! Great vid!
really inspiring video
Riding a ICE motorcycle in the wilderness is a shameful and cruel thing to do. But humans are rather self-destructive til the end, so there’s that. 😢
Hi there. This trail is not in designated Wilderness and is a multi-use trail that is open to motos.
💪
Awesome!
Thank you team!
I live in the North San Juan area. The D'ville trails are the best! Thank you GUYS!!!
Some of my favourite area to ride in Northern California! Though I have not rode the trail shown around 2min mark. Would love to know which trail it is.
Indian Falls Ridge on the Mt Hough system is the trail @200 min mark.
The elusive Trail Fairies!!! Can't thank you guys enough!
Thank you guys!
Thank you for all the work you guys put into keeping those trails primo! We do what we can when we get out there, but you guys do the brunt of the work! Much appreciated!
Is the Nelson Creek trail open ? Can you still cross the creek over that log that has the top half sawed off ?
Yep! Just rode it the other day.
Love it!
Fantastic!!!
And THAT’S why you buy a motorcycle. Matt - the champ on this one!
Coming down from Portland this year to do the event. Can't wait to spend time in this area after following your trail work the last few years.
Don't leave! Stay and build a future for this. Two wheels or two feet... your two hands can create a future for all of us! Never tire- inspire!
How much of this trail system will allow horseback riding?
Hi Jack, the Indian Valley Loop is proposed to be a shared multiple use trail (some motorized, some non-motorized), so equestrian use would be permitted throughout. Let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks for the reply This is good to know I am looking to purchase some homesteading land in Northern California and perhaps may look into some grants to participate in this trail building endeavor. Would appreciate any advice on which areas (have seen a property in Westwood) would be most conducive to this end.
How?
Hi there. Keep an eye on sierratrails.org/employment-opportunities for job openings with the trail crew.
Awesome awesome! I use the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship examples in my recreation management classes at Sac State. And it's great to see some attention being given to our rural California communities. Good work.
Thank you! We appreciate your support.
Such great work! Thank you Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship.
I rode in the Indian Valley in a gravel event just before the Dixie Fire. It's a really beautiful area with a lot more potential for bike riding - I plan to donate to SBTS to help them with their connected communities project.
Loved these On the Trail updates. You guys should do more! Specifically, I'm wondering about the status of the Claremont Trails Project.
This is the most exciting thing to happen in Indian Valley in a very long time!
So great to see “Multiuse Trails” being cut/built. Trails open for “All” the people. There are thousands of mile of hiking, equestrian and MTB.
I use this video in my recreation resource management classes - awesome story!
Love the edit! Full race video here: th-cam.com/video/bjEkex-l1tM/w-d-xo.html
This is FABULOUS!!!
Awesome edit! - could be the year to go back!

Love it Greg!! I’ve heard of it!! I think Butte Meadows was part of the trail!! We dirt bike all over up here, and would love to help be part of this!! Super cool to be able to ride to a destination and have lunch, stay or just ride back!! Love what you’re doing!! And interested in learning more!!
Love what you guys are doing, keep it up. I am a Quincy High Grad & had an awesome Forestry teacher who helped build my Love for the Forest & the area. Do you work with any of the High Schools in the area?
Yes, we do! Check out our page sierratrails.org/student-trail-crew for info on our youth crews.
Awesomesauce
Great effort here, just love this area!!!
I've talked to a handful of people that have some strange stories from this area. If anyone you know has heard/seen what they think might be Sasquatch, I would love to know. Something happened across from Sierra Buttes in 2015, and I've been gathering stories from this area for years since. Peace, great video!
What you’re doing is awesome! How can locals help/support your work?
Mountain bike will do ….. keep it simple and fun
Looks awesome! Now I just gotta get a gravel bike. 😂
A lot of people ride it on mountain bikes, even the squishy ones. For top speed a hardtail is the ticket!
