great loved it never been down it but the ship canal is the river irwell and mersey and water supply

The last time I sailed up the ship canal was on the Manchester Merchant. We had been in a collision in the St Lawrence River, Montreal. I think 1962.
and this is why there are no sea trout behind my house in the goyt

Wow didnt realise all swing bridges still work also very odd that strip of land dividing Canal from River for many miles !.
Of course they still work.
Yeah they work but not all the time, they cause traffic chaos in the summer when they expand and get stuck opening and closing, Peel holdings have a thing for making the ships come past during rush hour.

there was a hillock there on the right just before the narrow strip its some of the spoil from the ship canal naviagation

You can slow the playback speed in setting 👍🏼
