      They have not changed the Tupperware, or modified the bike in any way, OTHER than having gone with a new supplier of the software that runs the GPS Navigation System. I think, it is now produced by Garmin. Other than that...there is absolutely no difference in the model years between launch (2018) and now 2021. The ONLY difference between the 2021 and the 2018, is the sticker on the head stock, and color offered. Nothing more. The true secret, is if one could still find a new or crated 2018 left over...that would be the KILLER sale to nail down. For goodness sakes, lol...(I own a red 2018) other than the Garmin Software rather than our 2018 Harmon Kardon GPS software...it is inch for inch, THE SAME BIKE, just a different production stamping date on the head stock, and whatever color they came out in, from 2020 (they skipped saying the bikes were a 2019 model entirely) to 2021.

    Looks fantastic in white. Most Yamaha dealers close to me never even got one in and still haven’t. Dealer that did have one 2 hours away wouldn’t let me ride it and wouldn’t give me what I wanted for my trade. I’ve only seen one on the road, probably one of the most underestimated/underrated motorcycles of all time.

      I’ve got a 2018, bought in June 2020. It was on the dealers showroom floor for 2 plus years. It’s a Harley market for this type of bike but it blows the Harley away. To get this much bike in a Harley would be $35k at least. I have the Trans Continental. Listed for over $28k with dealer prep and freight, not including tax. Rode it out the door for $19.5k tax included. It’s the most awesome bike I’ve ever owned and I’ve had a ton. Weighs 963 lbs not including my ass on it. It’s a handful walking it around but as soon as you start to move, and it does really go, it feels like a 500 lb bike on the road.

      Rode our 2018 (red color) SVTC from Ontario down to Phoenix in July. Cruised around Phoenix in 105 F heat...idled at red lights...some traffic jams...engine never shut off. Not one burp, beltch, seizure, just a steady throbbing at idle. This bike was designed to use AIR as its cooling medium, whether at 8,500 ft in the Rockies...or in the Sonoran Desert. The bike has ceramic lined bores...as well as deep etched monster air fins...and again, it was designed to run under any and all conditions, with surrounding air as the 'coolant'. Simply a great bike to own and ride! Traded in a 2008 Honda Goldwing GL1800 Deluxe Sound/Nav for it...and 3 years later...and thousands of miles later...no buyer's remorse or regrets. That this bike is air cooled should be the last thing an owner would ever worry about...but then, you have to own one for a good year to know that....:)

    After riding almost 50 years of riding this is by far the best bike I have ever been on. I rode them all too, BMW, Goldwing and so on. You can't "get it" by one test drive, it takes a while to get used to the super low RPM's. If you test ride one shift it between 2500-3000 RPMs and it will shift so smooth and be in it's power band the entire time. At 80 MPH it's not even running 3000 RPMs!

    • @sesquashtwo
      @sesquashtwo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with all stated. Yep, you simply CAN'T get the true value of ownership on a ride controlled like a horseback riding stable...and I'd say, with tens of thousands of miles on our 2018 SVTC, that to truly know what this fabulous bike can offer the Tour Rider....you'd need to have a week's vacation with it. After that...no one would walk away from it...nope.

    • @sesquashtwo
      @sesquashtwo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrLew1965 I don't 'think' they will allow a test drive, but Bob has a reputation in the South West area to give a really good deal, if he senses you are a real customer, and not just 'kicking' tires...(smile). Just give them a call, and ask for him, with your asking about offering a test drive scenario. He is the owner, of the family run business, and by all accounts, has a good rep. In leu of a test ride yourself, I own a 2018 SVTC, and it is a SUPERB bike...that mile after mile, puts a smile on your face. Just superb. Yamaha screwed the pooch, with the launch, but didn't in the bike itself. It does everything you could ask for, in a luxury 900 'mile iron butt' day of riding and touring! I know...I do that ride all the time between Toronto and Myrtle Beach, S.C. If you call him, and do the deal over the phone, or come out once to view the bike, or have him take pictures from all angles in his showroom for you, you could on closing day, take a bus out to Chatham, and I'm sure one of his staff, if not himself, would pick you up at the Bus Terminal, so you could just ride home, and not have to schlep someone out to drive behind you.... Just a thought on how I would do it out of T.O. There is ONE VERY IMPORTANT add-on, from Yamaha that I would work into the deal, or have Bob put on for you BEFORE you pick up your SVTC, is to purchase the lower wind deflectors. They will keep you very cool, or warm, depending on their angle, and my wife and I were two years ago, in Phoenix, Arizona, and those two lower wind deflectors along with the standard equipment top wind deflectors, made us as comfortable, or even better, than our last ride which was a 2008 GL 1800. The beauty of this bike as an air-cooled, is that the entire planet's atmosphere is your cooling agent, that will not ever spew out of a damaged rad, or hose, and haul you over to the side of the road...and not going any further. With an air cooled motor, even in 104 F July Phoenix...that will never happen. Never....

      I think they'd sell a lot more of them if they were priced closer to what the Kawasaki Voyager goes for. Most folks will buy a Harley if they're going to lay down $27k, almost $30k out the door.

    • @sesquashtwo
      @sesquashtwo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Truly, it came out with a MSRP at the nose-bleed strata...but, in fairness, it had tech and features that STILL to this day, IT ONLY HAS...over BMW, Honda, Moto-Guzzi, Kawasaki.....and in Canada (Ontario) the SVTC was listed for $32,000.00 CDN. (2018) What (in my opinion, for I did end up paying that price out the door, with Yamaha O.E.M. add on's) killed the excitement and launch momentum was Yamaha themselves. The launch, the failure to deliver to pre order customers.. ( ordered mine in Oct,2017, but DID NOT see it until mid May/2018!!!) miscommunication, NO communication from Yamaha, feet dragging in Core Software Updates, outrageous (to this very day I type this post) wait times and delays to get any parts for it, should warranty be required. Some have waited SIX WEEKS to get an engine part, so, lost six weeks of the riding season, with no offer by Yamaha to compensate them for the egregious delays to get parts from Japan, to their central warehouse (in Toronto) and then the part shipped to the waiting dealer... Such things as this, that I believe truly was to blame for the total lack luster sales performance of this bike. Yamaha doesn't even support sales and buyer interest with any form of advertising...not on billboards, not in magazine print....they don't spend one dollar to encourage and promote sales. This of course, is all on Yamaha Ltd. Those that own this fine bike, such as myself, know its true worth...to the rider that wants to tour in grand style. But...that won't see more of them on the road....unless Yamaha starts to take their own bike seriously...as worthy of advertising , worth supporting, worth generating interest in. Until then...I don't expect to see too many SVTC coming my way, or passing me on the roadway or highway. But for that, truly, I don't really care. I don't need this bike to be more popular, as I have no need or interest in selling it....so if I am only one of three (who knows? LOL) in all of Ontario...so what? I will have a bike that when heading into a Tim Horton's parking lot...it will generate conversation from those that have never seen one, or up close. They could stop production next month, but by law, (Canadian Law) need to make parts available (to manufacture, and not merely warehouse for a full 10 years) for the Star Venture T.C. and the Eluder...so, who ever owns one...and loves their ride...it is all good. They will lose nothing, in having owned one, and enjoying that ownership!

    • @gabbyhayes1568
      @gabbyhayes1568 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sesquashtwo Fortunately for we here in So. Cal., parts are readily available although I've had no need for them other than servicing. Yamaha is treating the promotion of the SVTC much the same way they did the Royal Star Venture. I rode a 2005 for 10 years and never saw another one out on the road. Same with my SVTC which I've owned for a year and a half and acquired at a significant discount from the MSRP. But as you say, I've no interest in selling this "Ultra" (pun intended) fine touring machine either. I love the bike.

People still ask me about the bike, as that was the 'first' they had seen one. Totally weird, but then again...kinda fun. Harley's are a dime a dozen on a ride. So are Goldwings. Sort of makes me feel in a 'select' riding niche, lol. My wife and I loved our 7 previous Wings...and love our current 2018 STVC just as much. Hell, I LOVE the fact we still both ride...and are above this side of the 'green'.!!! Never mind which model we choose to own and ride!!!!! LOL!
