Pearl Hammers with safety bar baseplate. How aggressive is it?
I used the Pearl hammer with the safety bar. It is still on the aggressive side but not as aggressive as the open comb.

Four day shave using two straight razors. Wade and butcher and KNS barber

This week's shave was post 4 days growth. I started with a hollow ground and ended with a near wedge. I really like the combination of two straight razors. Small business shave based off of Ruffians & Co. coffee using the Karve Overlander

This week's shave was inspired by small business Saturday. I urge everyone to choose small businesses for their holiday shopping needs. Ruffians & Co. Gillette Contract Tech. It may be old but it still has it
Bought this two weeks ago and its working fine for me, gives great shaves once you go slow.
Hi Mike, You are so right about the politics going on in the community. The mister you use is just perfect. I use a sprayer meant for basting BBQ meats. $1.99 at Target. Razor looks great. Best regards, Glenn
Nice shave I actually find the close comb plate of Pearl hammer slightly more aggressive than the open comb. Terrific razor from the house of Pearl. A 100% brass cnc machined at this price makes it even sweeter. Some have commented that the hammer makes the blackbird redundant. I have not tried the bb though.
@@okiedokie_cool I have both. I haven’t compared side by side though. I have the polished stainless steel BB with both plates. I feel like the smooth BB might glide a bit easier being so polished
When able, please do a comparative between blackbird and Pearl Hammer @@bowtiern8292
@@bowtiern8292please do a comparative shave with the blackbird
@@bowtiern8292i too use the leftover soap lather as a facewash post a shave. Makes the skin super soft and the linger of the notes. By the way, I use the hammer with a lighter shorter handle, just tones it down and make it maneuverable.
Nice shave and review Mike! I like a nice heavy razor. I’ll have to check out this Pearl.
@@subtleartsoapco it’s a good one easy to use
This was a great video. You could tell you were nervous at first then I could see the transition to comfortable with the razor and the happiness that a good shave brings.
I have the exact same brush that your wife has. I’m new to wet shaving so I wanted to get a cheaper brush to try the process out. It’s a good little brush. I have nothing to compare it to but it has been meeting my needs. Great video man.
@@ericstanford7670 thank you it works well. I have some nice brushes but to be honest a midrange synthetic brush is all I need
Did you *measure* the weight?
@@10floz30minutes yes it was 150grams without the blade. Quite hefty
@@bowtiern8292 Thanks. I believe someone else complained about the razor being less mass and he measured it. I thought maybe somebody could either confirm one way or the other way.
I love my injector razors. Just wish the yellow chick blades were cheaper.
It shaves better than rockwell 6s by a wide margin..for me...that's how good it is
Great shave. I like MSc fabwrge way better than paa etu
Nice shave Mike. I’ve noticed the more I shave with straights, the more I prefer an aggressive DE when I switch.

Great shave Mike! Nothing like knocking down multiple days growth with a solid straight razor! I liked that you used two razors, very cool!

@@Majorrich thank you. It’s now my preferred method
What a nice shave with a lovely razor; I really liked the scales. You have some nice 'named' razors in your box. You should have some nice shaves with them. I have restored a half hollowed Wade and Butcher, which took a lot of work, but I am so pleased with how it shaves; it is one of my nicest edges. All the best, Mike 👍
Thank you. I look forward to the adventure and learning
Good to see you posting again! It took me a while to find a birth year/quarter razor (X-2). The Gilette Super Adjustable 109 is an excellent shave. I bought a True Til Death brush off Etsy as well. I had an issue with USPS with the shipping, but Cody sorted it out. He was really responsive and has great customer service.
Thank you. Yeah Cody is a great guy.

Hi Mike, Truly a yummy shave! I still get better shaves with a DE vs a straight. What is your experience? My straight shaves are getting better, but still not as good as a DE. I’m with you on small business. Best regards, Glenn
Thanks Glenn. With the right straight I can get a really nice shave. DEs are still easier but I’m getting there. I have found that if I skip a day and use a straight I get my best shave. Just had shave #55 using my Le Grelot from Thiers finished on an Escher
I have the Henson AL13 mild (original version) and love it. I also have the Karve Overlander - aluminum which I slightly prefer. That's my entire razor collection after traditional wet shaving for 1 1/2 years.
