Wild Camping @ Rhinogs @ Llyn Du lake.
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A one nighter wild camping on the very tough hill walk to Rhinog Fawr. I didn't make the peak as the weather and a bad stomach stopped in my tracks. If you are going to do this walk make sure you have the fitness and navigation skills. This terrrain is tough and difficult to navigate. A GPS handheld or phone equivalent like Outdoor Active is very helpful. But a compass and map are a necessity. ...

A damning review of the Jetboil Stash
มุมมอง 2.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Save your cash ditch the Stash. The Jetboil Stash is just not worth the money. It's flimsy and overpriced. You could create your own system buying your own titanium stove and titanium pot. The lid is cheap and not fit for purpose - it does not fit the pot well and falls off when pouring hot water. This is a safety issue. It does not perform well in below freezing temperatures, or in the strong ...
A Night At Nant Syddion Bothy
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A night at Mount Syddion Bothy. Here I meet the people who actually maintain these bothies from the Mountain Bothy Association. What a great bunch of selfless guys. They worked late into the night to put a joist in. These guys are volunteers they get a small amount of money towards petrol - that's it. Please join the Mountain Bothy Association it's only £26 a year.
A Quick Review of the Jetboil MicroMo
มุมมอง 3.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A quick review of the Jetboil MicroMo stove. The MicroMo is the smallest and lightest of Jetboil's integrated systems. The MicroMo is a regulated system allows control over gas output. It has an integrated piezo lighter. The pot is an 800-millimeter (0.8 litre) utilising flux ring technology - which improves performance. Weighing in at 340 grams or 12 ounces it is not light. Its weight is mitig...
A Night at the Nant Rhys Bothy during Storm Eunice
มุมมอง 10K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Actually, the weather at the bothy and the walk in and out weren't that bad considering it was one of the worst storms for many years, with gust of 100 miles per hour. The drive back was worse than the stay at the both. The bothy itself was full of rubbish that others could not be bothered to remove. The bothy is meant to be haunted - if you believe such nonsense. This could be a great bothy if...
Wild Camp at the Chartist Cave in the Brecon Beacons
มุมมอง 6732 ปีที่แล้ว
Wild camping outside the Chartist cave in the Brecon Beacons. I used my Hilleberg Unna with my Sea to Summit SP 3 Sleeping bag with a Exped Synmat UL Winter. Despite all the equipment I had a cold night. Not a survival situation. But, cold enough to make me think about my kit. Do I need a better sleeping bag for instance? The cave is fascinating and actually is 400 metres long. I would love to ...
A Wild Camp in the Black Mountains at the Grwyne Fawr reservoir.
มุมมอง 2.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A winter camp at Grwyne Fawr reservoir in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 1600 ft above sea level, I was open to the elements and I nearly lost my tent in the reservoir due to the strong wind. My Hilleberg Unna stood the test very well as did my Sea to Summit SP 3 sleeping bag.
A wild camp at Usk Reservoir in the Brecon Beacons
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
An overnight wild camp on Mynydd Myddfai near Usk reservoir in the Brecon Beacons National Park. I arrived late and had to gain height quickly to find flat dry ground. I had to pitch the tent in the dark which wasn't a problem. I had a good night though windy. My new Hilleberg Unna tent held up well. As did my new Exped's SynMat UL Winter Mat.

Just hiked the IOW coastal path and I'm wanting to go back and camp/hike more areas, the Oratory is one of them! Great hearing the history of Whale Chine. Would've been interesting if it'd started raining that second night 😂 how's the solar panel worked for you since the video? I need to get a new one, I've got a cheap one and it's crap 😂

You got to do the Isle of Wight. Generally you will be left alone wild camping. Like everywhere else it shuts down in the winter. But there is accommodation to be had especially in the larger seaside towns.

Jet boil or Johnson outdoors have a very aggressive marketing policy. They get hold of people they think have influence and send them the stoves for nothing in return for a positive review.. In fact some of the comments I get I'm actually certain they're from people who work for jet boil. In fact some websites I look at I'm convinced are wholly hosted by Jet Boil. There's a lot of statistics on these sites. And it blinds you with science. I'm not saying jet boil don't make good stoves. I just think they're too expensive for what they are.

    • @WildAboutCamping

Jet boil or Johnson outdoors whatever you like to call them. Have a very aggressive marketing department. If you look carefully at website reviews and comments on TH-cam videos. You realise that the marketing guys are pushing the agenda. That's their job. But I'm not going to lie about a product that costs me over £100 and does not deliver. I was attracted to their modular systems. But, quite frankly my Soto windmaster kicks the ass out of any of my jet ball stoves.
