What happens if you run into a vehicle coming there other way? or are these trails one way?
Some places you have room to go around and some places it's only wide enough for one vehicle. In the narrow sections someone has to back up until you reach a wide spot that you can safely pass.
Great vid! Is the FJ lifted?
It is slightly lifted in the front because when I added the winch the weight pulled the nose down. The lift really just returned it to its normal stance. With the roof top tent and all the gear it probably should be lifted more but it's my daily so It's not practical. It's also on 33" "pizza cutters".
Where’s the entrance to this trail? It looks good and wide for a full size truck and still challenging. I’d love to go
It's just off 60 in a tight corner
Love that trail, is this recent? It was closed. I hoped it would get opened back up
The video is from a while ago and at that time there were no signs or gates or anything saying it was closed. Not sure about the current status of the trail? It is a fun trail with some nice obstacles.
@@Gourmetoverland they put a big metal post in center of the trail this spring. I was hoping it opened back up. Thanks for sharing. It’s a beautiful area hate it’s gone
Definitely no post when I was there @@1870offroad
You caught it just in time. I live here in WNC and they actually ran a grader through the whole trial on around 7-5-2024 just a week ago so it will take some time to get back to any kind of challenge at least they didn't close it (Yet) and hopefully not. Nice video. Thanks
Whereabouts in North Carolina do you live?
@@Gourmetoverland Sylva is about 10 miles from the Cherokee Indian reservation.
@@JR-5465 I'm familiar with Sylva....I used to take people from Sapphire/ Cashiers to the train ride/eat at the Jarrett house as a summer job many years ago.
@@Gourmetoverland Wow I'm 59 and my Grandparents met at the Jerrett house small world. They have been remodeling it and it's supposed to open back up sometime this year it got delayed because one of the roofers fell off the roof and passed away.
This didn’t age well unfortunately… Hurricane Creek has now been graded down. No longer much of an “offroad” trail. At least they didn’t close it down!
@@Bugout_Overland haven't heard about this + this video of hurricane creek was shot back in May . Any additional details?
Awesome trail, very awesome view!
Short Trail but a little more technical than I had thought. Agree great view at the end.
Did it on my motorcycle, really fun trail
@@Gorilla_ADV I always see motorcycles when I go. Usually they are coming "down" the trail while I'm going "up" the trail though.
@@Gourmetoverland I think because most are riding dual sports and dont want to take the interstate to get there. I think going up is better. I crashed 4 times going down it
@@Gorilla_ADV makes sense. 1st trip I had to use my winch to get out of a pickle. This trip I had a better time of it.

@@selder03 I think if you go with another truck you'd be fine. Best if y'all have winches as well.
@@Gourmetoverland agreed on both. Once I level out, I'll have a buffer for a bumper and winch.
Need to just ride straight through the low side of the trail there and not try to turn up into the hill side. Will be way easier
@@appalachhaun_adventures low side gets you stuck actually. Going high side was most successful....that being said the obstacles constantly change so does the "best" route.
@@Gourmetoverland ya I just went through it wet 2 days ago and stayed straight through the low side of that section with the terrain features. Idk when yours was filmed? I think it is a tad worse now a few days ago. No probs tho. I’ll have a trail video in a few weeks. Going high side just makes u slide back down to the low side all over the place lol
This video was shot in May. I went low the last time (during winter) and got stuck. Also depends on the set up of your rig I suppose. I have another video on my channel about choosing a line that shows the results of three different lines on this exact section.

Awesome video. Not much longer and I'll have my JKU ready to hit Hurricane Creek
@@backpacker72 the one section with the split screen in the video is the trickiest section. It has a steep drop off to the passenger side of the vehicle but you'll get hung up on a rock if you go to far driver.

When did you run this trail? I live 12 miles from hurricane creek and it’s not rained hard enough in the past 2 months for all that water. Never seen that much water on that trail. Nice video though.
@@keithburris8470 weekend of May 9-10th. I have never seen it as wet as it was. We were actually going to run Old Buzzards first but we couldn't get across the main water crossing so we went over to hurricane creek and ran it (which is this video). the OBR video from that same weekend is on my channel also ( I published the videos in reverse order). Also, where are you from? I spent many summers a little west of this Area.
I live on Jonathan Creek (exit 20). I can imagine the creek crossing on the goat trail. Must have been one of those pop up storms, we sure didn’t get that much water at home. You guys did a good job through all that.

@@Gourmetoverland I’ve never seen it green or that wet that’s probably why it looked so different , thank you for your reply
Great video showing majority of the drive on Hurricane Creek. Most videos only show parts. This is a trail I want to drive through one day so this video gives me a great idea how it is.
@@itsaboutfam glad you enjoyed it. My intention was to show it exactly as it is without me talking about it, editing out lots of sections, or adding context. Hope you have an opportunity to check it out sometime.
@@Gourmetoverland I enjoyed it..thank you!

Nice video! Those were deep water crossings, did any water get inside your vehicles?
No water in either vehicle....both were completely fine. Hit a few rocks on the underside of each.
Love this trail. I have never seen the water that deep. I am past due for a return trip. ❤
@@stinky_taco water was very high. We had planned to do another trail this day and hurricane creek day 2 but the water was too high so we wound up doing hurricane Creek 1st and the other train the following day after the water level dropped a bit.
Stock 4Runner TRD do those trails ok? Looks like it on camera
Yes you should be fine. The trails change a lot based on the amount of rain and amount of traffic. This trip we didn't use any recovery gear but the previous trip to these same trails we used every piece of recovery gear we had. I'd go with a buddy truck and bring some recovery gear just to have your bases covered.
@@Gourmetoverland thank you!
Be careful straddling that mud hole. Vehicles have flopped on their side there before. The bottom is hard so you won't sink any further in it. I love that trail and Hurricane Creek. Great video.
On my previous trip to that trail I went straight down the middle and bottomed out a bit on the driver's side as the rut is a bit deeper on the driver's side. Just starting to work on the hurricane creek video from the same weekend.
This trail is on my bucket list. Great video...subbed😎👍
What a scenic trail with a few "fun" sections. I could fall asleep easy camped next to the sound of that flowing river. Great video!
I've camped next to it last trip
@@Gourmetoverland It's on my bucket list to camp next to a river or creek. We don't have those types of spots here in Florida. Well we do....but there are most likely gators in them.
We have plenty of them in North Georgia. Not hard to find and really scenic.
@@Gourmetoverland We are planning a trip hopefully next year to North Georgia or in the Carolinas. Friends and others here on YT and from some research say the same thing about plenty of river /creek camping spots.

Slightly upgraded tire but he is going to change again soon. He also wasn't aired down at all and I believe I was. I am working on the extended video of that day now.
Looks like a fun trail. Is the full trail video out yet? Man that Defender driver seemed allergic to momentum. Every time he'd step over something he'd completely let off and come to a stop again. He wasn't making it easy but clearly it worked out in the end!
No the full trail video isn't out yet I'll try to put it out in a few days along with hurricane creek trail as well.

That’s an awful long time for the shot
Yes it is long. It was the second shot i ever pulled on the machine. I actually liked the taste and texture much better than some of the shots ive pulled since that are more correct duration & amount. Just changed coffee beans so i need to start dialing in all over again. This machine was only intended to be used on camping trips but I enjoy the process so might sell some of my fancier espresso machines and start using this one daily.
That’s an interesting thought… I own no espresso machines, should I start with one of these
@@Anwarboy786it's certainly not a bad value. Just keep in mind espresso is sort of like golf....you constantly have to work on it and as the variables change the output changes as well. It can be frustrating and awesome all in the span of 10 mins.😂. You also need a good grinder which can be had for 75.00 or less (I just did a video on an inexpensive grinder I purchased).
@@Gourmetoverland Haha! first time i heard that one. I have a 1zpresso X-Pro already for the last year which i use to make aeropress and v60's, it's been delectable. Top Heavy Tents anr a waste of money and time, plus they cost you mpg every time you drive
I love roof top tents (probably wouldn't be a camper without one). Believe it or not they don't make a huge impact on mpgs or at least mine doesn't which is sort of surprising. I don't get great MPG in the FJ 4wd but heavy tires had a greater impact than the RTT.
You have to know your wheelbase, adjust your approach accordingly. Looks like inexperience off-roaders.
ultimately for any given obstacle (yes this was very simple) to know how your rig will handle it you have to drive it. I just found it interesting how on a fairly benign trail two vehicles that have done far more difficult trails got hung up.
