Blowing Out Water Pipes in a Pole Barn
In this video, I show you how I winterize the water lines in my two-stall pole barn for the winter. Where we live, winters get so cold that if you don’t heat the building, you must winterize the water lines, drain lines, fixtures, and appliances to prevent damage.
To winterize my pole barn, I connect an air compressor to the water lines and blow compressed air through all fixtures and outlets to remove any water in the system. Then, I either drain the P-traps or fill them with antifreeze. Please be aware that draining the P-traps allows an opening for sewer gas to enter the building. This process is relatively simple but can get more involved if you have additional fixtures, appliances, toilets, showers, water heaters, and floor drains.
Air Compressors: amzn.to/3CiFBSs
Blow Out Accessories: amzn.to/4fJma43
I hope this video can be helpful in some way! Keep in mind that while this method works well for my system, all plumbing systems are different, and you should make the necessary adjustments to ensure your own system is properly winterized.
This video is intended only to demonstrate how I winterize my pole barn. It is not a complete guide, nor is it professional advice. Plumbing systems vary, so viewers should consult with a professional or carefully research to ensure their system is properly winterized. We are not liable for any damage or issues arising from attempts to winterize other systems.

Testing Hot Tub Water & General Maintenance Tips - Saluspa Inflatable Hot Tub
Im sure Ive asked this before , but which is this exact one? Can you add a link? This one looks pretty large. Like the square better than round. TIA 🫶🏻
@@ivyg5170 this is the Saluspa Ibiza 4-6 person inflatable hot tub. It’s about 2.5-3 years old now and I’m not sure this specific model is being made/sold still under the name “Ibiza” its dimensions are about 71” L x71” W and 26” tall. I hope this helps I’ll post a link to a similar model below: amzn.to/3UIF9ng
I got one for my birthday last week and it’s the best gift I’ve ever bought myself. I love it. It’s so easy to put up and I can even take the tops off myself. ❤❤❤
Congrats on the new hot tub! Happy warm waters!
Blew the seal after 4 hours of use. It worked great until it didn’t.
Take it back, probably had a defect.
I have a major issue and would like to know if anyone else has experienced it. When I set up my spa and filled it, the vinal floor had a slimy film. It was impossible to stand or even kneel on it. I had to roll over the edge to get out! (I hadn't set it up before the return policy expired) I drained it and scrubbed the bottom with Dawn Dishwashing Liquid which I had found to be amazing for removing oil stains. I just refilled it but it's still slick! Any suggestions???
It’s going to be a little slick because it’s brand new, unless there’s a bio build up have you shocked the water real well, is your water from a well or municipality/company. The nature of it is to be somewhat slippery it’s kind of unavoidable. I wonder if dish soaps may make it more slippery. I wish I had some kind of answer but it’s hard without seeing and being there.
What I mean is brand new maybe more slippery than my almost 3 year old tub. I would use caution if you plan to use it so you don’t fall/slip. Probably any tub not just yours you mix water and vinyl it’s going to get slippery….
@@michigantreetops This is far beyond "a little slick" and it's just as slippery now that I've drained it again. It feels like it's coated with Vaseline! Try rollerskating on an ice hockey rink! The side walls are fine.
@ the only time I’ve ever had that happen was one time I let the sanitizer levels drop to almost nothing for a day or two quickly the entire tub was coated with a bio film that was slippery. Were your sanitizer levels proper when it was filled?
Very nice I'm not sure why but this is relaxing to me
Thank you I’m glad you liked it
I have another brand one,a PROYAMA wood splitter from Amazon. For a Homeowner with limited duty this little splitter is very good. While this is a compact unit for storage and moving around - it is heavy! I see some people mounting this on a small wagon and towing to the site they want to split wood at. If you are on flat terrain, not a big deal to move around for most, on hilly terrain, the small wheels make it a pain in the a$$. That being said, I like it, and it works well for my needs. As I trim trees on my property I cut the limbs and trunks to be split for firewood. And it also comes in a version with a stand.
@@Wayne-fu9qz thanks for the comment I looked at this one before opting to choose the harbor freight one. Here’s a link for anyone who would like to see the Proyama electric log splitter: amzn.to/3NPQXQH
I have a dog just like it and she’s like 75% tumor but she’s in no pain and she’s so happy and she’s 14
What size garden hose is that
Length might only be 15’-20’ but i think its 5/8”.
The drain on the hot tub is 3/4” male garden hose thread, the hose I hooked to it is 3/4” Female garden hose thread.
@@michigantreetops thanks appreciate you replying back
Bro, I’m trying to see how the fucking program the remote control not how much you fucking bought it for you dumb fuck
Looks relaxing
You going to start a chimney fire with that pine lol
I would have put a new filter on after all that cleaning. I have a sovereign hot springs spa and no one will repair it. One guy wanted 2,000$ just to come over to see it. Terrible company. A independent contractor took the tub apart to fix it and left it disassembled. Then charged me 600$. Welcome to Martha’s Vineyard Island land of crooks.
I can’t remember if I did replace the filter or not (maybe off camera I may have), but usually after a clean I agree it’s a good idea to replace it on these inflatable hot tubs. The filters for these hot tubs are cheap like 3.00 each so replacing isn’t to big of a cost. I’m sorry to hear about your experience with your hot tub. Contractor prices have gone through the roof it seems.
Great saw,ive cut several cord of firewood with mine over the years. Those bars can be dressed with a regular file or bar dressing tool. Theyll last you several years if they dont get bent. Ive got a few that are 12-14 years old.
Chicken thighs for the win! And on the bbq so good! Going to the store to get some for tonight lol
Best cut of chicken in my opinion! Have a good dinner!
We got a WiFi enabled pump when we filed for our recall replacement!
Lucky! I really wish I had gotten one I heard a lot of people say stories similar to yours!
I had a saluspa Dominica. They didn’t have pumps in stock so they sent me an entire Hawaii hydrojet pro!
Not affected 🙏🏾. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for your vid - after storing for the summer, do you do anything to flush the system? Like flush it through with bleach or anything?
@@lonesome_crowded_life thank you, I don’t store it during the summer, I like it even during the summer I just like it a lot more during winter. But if I did I would clean it and dry it completely before storage - To prevent any mold mildew growth during the summer storage. I wish I had more but I don’t do it personally, there are some really good Facebook groups you could try on inflatable hot tubs possibly someone there would know.
Been two weeks for me, the guy got lucky by saying doesn't take long. I sent them a warning from my lawyer about violating consumer rights by not sending me one and they sent it in one day😂
I made the recall claim pretty early probably before the rush of everyone else mine did come very quickly (1 week about) but yeah I’m sure they’re getting a lot of claims filed now that it’s is out there.
How often do you keep the pump and heater running?
@@GenesisTyler749 24/7 pump is always on, the heater is set to temp and if it calls for heat it will turn on I believe.
It’s important to note if power goes out, you must goto unit and power back on when power is restored it will not turn back on by its self.
Thanks for the demonstration
Thank you. Worked great!
@@plajr924 glad to hear! Thanks for watching 😊
On average how long does it take to drain? Thanks again!
@@ian1753 maybe an hour or so, hard to say.
@@ian1753 make sure that flapper in the bottoms of the tub is held open it likes to self close or rest right over the outlet
I’m trying to fill for first time. Do I have to push hard down on bottles?
@@sallyhallman I didn’t think too hard, make sure you have it all lined up right:)
Had mine for 10 years, still splits whatever I need done. Mounted mine on a leftover metal machine stand from my old woodshop, no kneeling or bending over....you will understand that advantage when you get to be my age (75), bring wood to be split in one wheel barrow, toss splits in another wheel barrow, when barrow is full, stack it immediately. No tossing it in a pile on the ground...which just means you have to bend over again to pick it up!
@@mikeh8228 wow that’s great to hear yours has lasted so long, yeah I actually put mine up on a table since making this video and it was a lot easier. I’ll have to put the wheel barrow next to it though I like that! Keep up the good work!
Not good on rocky soil.
Yeah and I had a few rocks, roots depending on size are tough too.
That can be said for stronger hand held augers too. You need the right tool for the job, and this can work wonderful for many. Not everyone needs an industrial hole digger.
I have the same one I bought around 12 years ago. I just turn it on and it stays running. The advantage is I can have one hand on the log and the other one on the the control lever. All of the ones made now,you have to have one hand on the power switch, and the other one on the control lever.I understand Harbor Freight and other small electric log splitter maker did this to reduce the chance of someone losing a finger. You must respect the power of these machines.
I hear you, it is powerful I personally like the new (2-hand)!safety feature but I understand where you’re coming from. Does Yours still function well for being 12 years old?
also use a $20 rv water filter attached to the hose when you fill up the tub if you have high calcium water . it makes the pump last longer . we had that problem before
thanks for the tips and viewing the videos! I've read a lot about these filters on some facebook groups regarding inflatable hot tubs. I may try that, but i did also buy the parts to run a softened water spigot on the outside of the home, the softener removes all the iron/rust but ive heard some people note that the softened water is hard to balance. Either way I'm not sure but i intend to find out!
i have the saluspa hollywood and i noticed if you take the black flaps out of the filter holder . the eo2 doesn’t go off as much due to lack of water flow . which makes the each filter last longer .
hmm ill look into that i only had the E02 error when i tried to start the pump to inflate the unit in the winter time (video: th-cam.com/video/qy14JsakG9s/w-d-xo.html) below freezing weather, there was no water in the unit because i was at the step for inflating the hot tub and it got all mixed up thinking something was wrong i think the temp sensor was upset at the cold air and no water... I did a quick google search and found this: The E02 error code on a Bestway SaluSpa hot tub indicates that the pump isn't detecting enough water to run the filtration or heating system. Here are some things you can try to fix this error: Check the water level: Fill the hot tub until the water level is between the "Min/Max" fill line on the inside of the spa. Remove stopper caps: If the stopper caps are still inside the hot tub, they can block the water intake. Check the filters: Blocked filters can cause the E02 error. Check the water lines: Kinked or bent liner pipes can cause the E02 error. Check the water flow sensors: The water flow sensors might not be detecting enough water flow. Check the Freeze Shield technology: The Freeze Shield technology might have turned on too soon. If the E02 error code disappears for 2 to 3 hours after running the spa with the heating and filtration system, the filter housing black membrane might be perished or twisted. In this case, the filter housing will need to be replaced.
@@michigantreetops yeah without the black flaps the water seems to flow far better and it also cleans the hot tub faster making it far less cloudy . it also heats it up faster as well . just the flow of the water is way faster in general really. i don’t think the black flaps are even necessary.🤷🏻♂️give it a shot anyway if ya want
Mine is not heating up been on for 3hrs and it's still at 75
@@redtucker9945 What was the water temp to begin with? It should be going up keep an eye on it. Is the hot tub brand new, or under warranty either wait this may warrant a phone call to bestways customer support Link: bestwayusa.com/contact

Onde posso comprar essa luz ? Cono.e o nome em brasileiro? Obrigado s3 pider responder
Typically the hot light I use is the Intex brand LED light, I then had to purchase a 3-D printed part to make it compatible with my saluspa “chem connect” connection. I’ve also used the floating lights but I don’t like them as much because they tip over when using the bubbles and they bump into people in the hot tub. Thanks. What if you follow the instructions, cut the cord as instructed, and then are told 'no' but no longer able to use the hottub or having to wait for a replacement as I wouldn'twanta gift card. Do they have 900000 replacements the recalled?? Also, a replacement pump separately is not available for purchase unless bought with a tub/liner.
@@angelikad4024. Bestway is a very large company and I believe they want to make this right to their customers. If your pump is affected by the recall I would stop using it immediately and go through the claim process following the instructions online. You can request they call you on their website here, they should be able to answer your some of your concerns: bestwayusa.com/contact?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAocQcNMXcTM_PJaovw840BvAlYhF-&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_eq-h5jliAMVyEb_AR0DGwlTEAAYASAAEgKiifD_BwE
I had a similar thought.. So I plan to either photoshop or cut cord and mend after taking the picture (making sure to use some nice watertight heatshrink tubing on each strand and over the overall joint).
@@RyanSnyder_P right!? I'm not experienced with the 1st option lol Btw I found a FB group called 'Inflatable Hot Tub Owners" where they discuss the recall. It seems the company is fairly quick in the turnaround. Issue people are having is uploading the pic and having to start over with a new code. I think I use a Dry erase marker instead of a sharpie for easier removal.
@RyanSnyder_P I wouldn't recommend what you're planning to do. These units have been recalled for a reason, and I would stop using them immediately. The recall process was quick, and I received mine without any issues. @AngelikaDorsch-Bruckner I Really like the dry erase marker idea i too had the code page refresh and was given a new code after i sharpee-d another code on my unit... whoops!
