The Patrik Laine Trade Is An INCREDIBLE Bet By The Montreal Canadiens, Beware NHL
In this video, we break down the Montreal Canadiens' bold move to acquire Patrik Laine and a 2026 2nd round pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Trading Jordan Harris, the Canadiens made a calculated bet that could have huge payoffs. We dive into why this trade is a low-risk, high-reward move for Montreal, exploring Laine's potential to regain his elite goal-scoring form and how he fits into the Canadiens' lineup.
We discuss the impact of Laine's offensive talent, his recent production, and why his $8.7 million contract might not be a big issue for a rebuilding Montreal team. With the Canadiens looking for a fresh start, Laine could be the key to boosting their goal-scoring prowess. This trade analysis covers everything from Montreal’s defensive depth to Laine’s potential resurgence in one of hockey's biggest markets.

    Sens CAN (not will) make the playoffs if: - The team stays relatively healthy. Particularly at center. Having 18, 9, and (now) 12 down the middle for a full season would be HUGE! If all three of those guys play a minimum of 65-70 games, I think we’d be looking pretty good. And a healthy 65-70 games. Not like how Stu played hurt almost the entire year. - Ullmark can be a legit starter. He doesn’t have to be a Vezina quality goalie. Just be a legit starter. - Jensen can be a legitimate top 4 player. I’m not entirely convinced he’s much more than a bottom pairing guy. But time will tell. I simply don’t know enough about him right now. If he’s a Zub 2.0, I will be more than happy with him. - The new coaching staff can finally form an on ice identity that the entire roster can rally around. If we can check all those boxes, I think we have a very good chance at a wild card spot. BUT, the Atlantic is gonna be MURDER this season. Florida, Tampa, Boston, and Toronto will all continue to perform well, and teams like Detroit, Montreal, and Buffalo are gonna be right up our ass. We don’t need guys like Amadio or Perron to throw up 25 goals. We just need them to be stable personalities both on and off the ice. As the guy mentioned in this video, we’re not necessarily a lot better on paper this year, but we’re certainly more BALANCED. I think that’s a really apt way to put it. Go Sens go!

    • @SSHockey
      @SSHockey 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Definitely not a contender yet. But Laine’s contract expires in two years when they will probably be entering their competitive window. By that point, he could either be worth the $8.7M or re-sign at a cheaper deal. Win win either way in my opinion considering they also got a 2nd and only had to give up Harris

    • @go4a24
      @go4a24 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In my opinion, Laine makes the team better when they don't want to be better. I think Montreal will flip him at the deadline for picks or prospects because I don't think he'll get them in the playoffs. He will however get them close to the playoffs which will make their picks lower in the draft and I think Laine is a bad guy to have in the room with a bunch of young impressionable players. I believe the Habs would have been better off taking on good character players that are playing below what their contracts are worth as well as acquiring the prospects and picks that go with them, those guys are very valuable at the deadline as well

    I'm 44 years old and A Habs fan since I was 13 and saw Patrick wink at Sandstrom. Lot of GM's over that time, Serge Savard, Gainey, Andre Savard, Rejean FOOL, Gautier, Bergevin, and I've never seen a GM put together a more complete offseason. No stupid 5 year deal to a 30 year old for 2 mil too much, no reaching for the 20th ranked player at the 5th pick, no prove it deals to your best young players, no head scratching deal of your best young defenceman for a small french canadian who you hope and pray can be a center, no media hostility with a stubborn my way or the highway head coach who believes allowing 40 shots against with 20 for is a good win when your all-star goalie is literally carrying you, as the same head coach bashes anyone who tries to score as lazy, no thinking that it's sustainable to try and compete without having anyone who can score a point a game or god forbid 40 goals, no burying your best young prospect on the 3rd line playing 12 minutes a night, no we drafted these kids they're adults and on their own and we shouldn't try and support and coach and grow and they if they don't succeed it's their fault, no spending right up to the cap with any change in his pocket every freaking year, throwing good money after bad, None of that. He did the exact opposite of that, which is a minor miracle. Even if this doesn't work this year I'm so happy to have a GM that every move he's made for going on a year, I agree with and in some cases shocked he pulled off. Bravo Gorton, Bravo Hughes, one more year like this and the Habs will be contenders.

      totally agree. what I like about Hughe / Gortons is that they been faithful to their plan from the get go. They told the fans "its a reconstruction, so next few seasons will be ugly, brace youself". They did not try to satisfy the media by doing stupid trades, they focused on drafting and took every opportunity they could with dach, newhook, and now laine. If we make the playoff this year, im happy. then in 25-26 or 26-27, ill hope for a cup.

      @@KobeToddirt I don’t think the Habs make the playoffs this year, I hope I’m wrong but I think that’s still a year away.
