Barn Find 1984 Honda V65 Magna VF1100C - Part 42 - Riding The One Piece
Lets have another go at trying to get a semi decent video riding the Beast *AKA The One Piece* , working out the kinks now, need to soften up the rear suspension for starters. Still haven't done the clutch and really need to do the tappets, but it rides great, took it up to see my dad in Sheffield (roughly 100 miles each way) and it ran great, getting almost 40 MPG, don't know if that is good or bad but seems about right to me, and still riding on that rear tyre that came with the wheel, bit of a deceleration backfire and carbs need balancing, found a small rip in seat and dents in tank, so stuff still to do

    Our area is now installing round abouts. They work. Watching the whole video. I haven't made a video in almost two months. My Magna needs new front fork seals and other than that is running great. Thank you for your help. Decel backfire is lean. Traded a Rifle for a 1982 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk. Nice bike. somebody put shorty exhaust on it and it pops on decel. I don't feel like enlarging the jets on the carbs so that Other Magna Parts bike has longer Jardine pipes on it and I've already got it mocked up to fit nice. Going to start making more videos. I like that music track you always throw in. I could jam to that. Be safe on those tight little roads. Your bike is doing well after all the work you have put into building it. Awesome.

    I'm gonna have say that I'm LOVING your videos and what you've done myself! I'm kind of bumming out as on my 84 Shadow I've added an aftermarket 7" LED Day-Maker Headlight from the standard 6.5" OEM headlight. The bummer is this new light mounts to the forks in a way that I had to customize somewhat so getting the front forks off mine is a tad more involved now which I'm going to do soon enough! Luckily my forks are not leaking at all but I feel I must do it soon! Laughingly I just got to the part in your video where magically the seals threw themselves into your bike haha! I can see how @Johnson0781 got a little bunched about that now hehe...all laughs aside I do recall 3 decades ago changing my seals in the day when we had no resources to things other than a manual and I did it so I'm sure we can muster along with at least a bit of video found here and there! Man I want to go riding along side you and your restored Magna, I'll take ya up on the "getting lost tour 2024" where we just roll down some lost highway till we end up pitching tents! I did take my 84 Shadow on a BIG TOUR to the USA recently btw and the ole bike purred for 1000's of km's with the new breeds no problems! LOL @ 25:33 🤣😋 I surely was LISTENING! LOL....ROLL ON!

I am always willing to learn and I know I make a lot of mistakes, but you are seeing my learning process, I dont not post video's because I make mistakes, I share that - example, on early video for the V65, I put it in gear and sat on it and rocked it to turn the engine over - then forgot to take it out of gear, put it on its side stand, and bridged the starter solenoid with a screwdriver and it shot off its stand and crashed onto the floor and broke the indicator - but I then video'd me telling everybody what I had done. I am learning on camera, I need people to tell me what I am doing wrong. Cleaning the housing where the gasket sits, acetone is a brilliant helper. Glue voluntarily jumps off the aluminium. Some details were left out this time (removal of the center plate, cleaning the clutchplates, close up old clutch vs. new ones and so on). Maybe nxt time and I hope I'm not asking for too much. I making photographs with my cell phone just to remind certain details were thing could get utterly wrong when forgotten or falsely reassembled. So, thanks man and have fun when letting The Engine work with new clutch plates. p.s. Autumn might be good time for the forks. 👋😏👍

    If you're able to get some, Evaporust is a phenomenal treatment for that auxiliary tank if it's been rusted like many of them do. If you plug the output line from the bottom tank you can use pretty much a whole 1 gallon bottle of the stuff and just feed it in through the main tank to auxiliary tank fuel tube. Let it sit for about 3-4 days, so long as the ambient temp is 18 C or higher, then you can drain it all out. Give her a good rinse with distilled water and/or diesel (I prefer the diesel approach, just to avoid flash rust) and immediately fill it up with gas. From there, you should be golden. You'll still likely get some crud in the filter going forward, but it should be WAY less of it Best part is, you don't need to remove the auxiliary tank to do it! It was a huge quality of life improvement for mine, since I wasn't fighting constant rust

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried that, I think mine is basically dried fuel, it dissolves with Seafoam. Let me see where I am at the end of this tank of fuel, once its empty again ill give it another go. Spray foam oven cleaner seem to get rid of it best

      Yeh, I got the bits to do my V45 Clutch, plates but not steel plates, springs and gasket for the case nearly £100 for Honda Genuine parts - the V65 need 8 plates and they are £15 each so looking for after market ones, has to be done, the one in there is holding for now but wont last. I was so grateful for those people stopping, I had also forgotten my phone, well in truth I never take it, doesnt feel right riding an 80's bike and relying on modern tech, plus there is a freedom to be had not taking your phone, maybe thats why we appreciate people stopping to help, if I had my phone I would have just rang Mrs Honda and got her to bring me some fuel, but with no phone, halfway up a dangerous hill with no fuel and no idea where I was or where the nearest garage was , could have taken me all day to find fuel, but thanks to some kind hearted people I was on my way

Troubles with the pre chamber comp. came unexpected. Same as a hole in the frame on the right where the brake lever and centre stand meet. Some hellish Pro did an exellent welding job on both parts. Only if you could get a new larger tank and bypass remove the reserve....never lined a tank before not sure if I will yet but still they need a real good clean with that carb rebuild. American imports for me and they run some dirty fuel and it does a lot of damage for a modern country.

    • @ThatOldHonda
      @ThatOldHonda 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, not much to this circuit, but essentially it runs from one of the CDI's, so assuming you have spark at all 4, you should have a signal to the rev counter - check connection/plug on the CDI, clean them with contact cleaner, I would however suspect the instrument, the good news if you need a replacement is rev counters are normally much cheaper than speedometers. you can check the signal with a meter at the rev counter end to see if you are getting signal to the gauge

      @@dudemakingtracks Assuming you are in US there are loads on ebay for around $50 - but check your spark first, you would be surprised how many people I have helped who thought they were running on 4 but had a CDI fault and once running on 4 found a whole new bike hiding inside the one they thought they had - if this thing isnt pulling your arms off on acceleration, something is wrong :)
