for the record: a main bus isn't *a requirement* in Factorio. it helps to have it, but if you don't know what you're doing, don't go building one "because people tell you to do so" Factorio is about USING your resources.... a bus is just a chest in disguise: it holds too many items that aren't being used when they're not going anywhere. your goal would be to reduce the time of delivery to 0, by either maximizing the speed of delivery to infinity (which means, instant teleport of the product from production to usage, which is impossible), or, reducing the wait time of inactivity due to pending delivery, to 0. to do that, you'll start moving bulks of cargo from point to point, so that *[the total bulk delivered]* divided by *[the destination point's speed of production]* results to be *[a production cycle equal to that of the origin]* so that both ends are synced, so that as soon as the product runs out, a new batch arrives. sending all the cargo through a bus moves the whole bulk by the smallest amount every time... so BOTH ends of the line are kept running, and BOTH ends consume power. with the bulk system (trains, mostly) you can shut down areas of the factory that are waiting for product, to save power.... since the whole thing will arrive _whole_ when it arrives, and not a minute sooner. Factorio is about optimization, not production. if you put all your money to production, you'll end up with a pile of useless garbage that you can't optimize because you can't shut down production to stop the thing from flooding you with garbage. work a stop button into the thing by figuring out *batches*
