Do you have a Whistle noise from the tent when driving 55+mph ?
Yes, I do . I believe it's unavoidable, unfortunately. Just turn up the 🎶 lol.
Mine did too. Roofnest released a cover for the tent, and that fixed it. I leave it on when I am driving around town, then take it off when I am heading out to camp. That way I don’t have to hear the noise ALL the time.
we are torn between the overland 2 xl and the standard 2 xl. Would you have stuck with the overland vs the 2 still, if you reordered today?
Based on both options absolutely yes . Absolutely love my choice . Was in 55 mph wind gusts and sideways rain. Held up perfectly
I bought the Overland 2 XL and was in the same point as you before the purchase. Here is what I have to say about the Overland, it's heavy. Even lifting the cover takes some force. You better install a hoist system or have plenty of friends to help you get it installed. The standard version weighs 70 lbls less, while still not 'light', it's 30ish% lighter than the overland. I also have a whistle noise coming from the tent driving 55+mph. I don't know for sure the standard would have this issue since it's not such a box with mounting groves on the side. With that said, I think the top cover on the overland should hopefully be able to take more of a beating than the standard version. And it being only $100 more than the standard, is why i choose the overland over the standard. The whistling is something I have to find a solution for though, because it is kinda annoying, even with music on.
hey thanks for making the vid. Question: Are the metalcloak hinges rusting?
Hope it helped. They discolored a bit , it's hard to explain. They are stainless. I wouldn't say it's rust .
@@Scottiegillespie got it, thank you
This video helped so much I bought the bigger version of the VEVOR diesel heater and I had tried multiple different transformers I must try that transformer u have thank u so much
Absolutely. Super happy I could help and save others from the frustration I had . Fun fact . That Transformer can and does have the power to run 2 diesel Heaters at once . Fyi . Take a screen shot on the connections on Amazon in the description to properly wire . I believe it didn't come with a diagram.
Jeep gave me the license plate mount as well because my dealer didn't install it. I'm actually glad they didn't install it cause I hate the look of it. I went with the aftermarket flip up mount. It's a nice simple install that works great. No hole drilling or anything, mounts using the 2 front bolts from the steel winch plate. Looks great and keeps in line with the aggressiveness of the steel bumper.
Oh wow ! That sounds fantastic. Could you send me a link or where to find it ? Thanks for reaching out !
@@Scottiegillespie it seems like my comment letting you know the info on the mount won’t post for some reason. Maybe because I inserted the link, not sure. But I bought it on Quadratec and it’s called, Fishbone Offroad FB21098 Hawse Fairlead License Plate Mount. It mounts behind the front plate and held in by the 2 bolts, you just loosen them and place the mount on the bolts. It doesn’t sit all the way down on the bolts due to Jeeps design, but it sits on it enough and once you tighten the bolts it’s nice and tight and isn’t going anywhere. It’s nice and solid. I like it and think it works well.
Scott, I have the Overland 2 XL. For the window poles, put them in the slot at an angle. The hooked end should face away from you at nearly a 45-degree angle with the tent itself. Put the pole in first, then bend it to put the hook through the eyelet of the awning. Make sure you put them in with some force; really try to snug them in the slot. Hope this helps!
This Absolutely helps 💯 percent. Thank you Soooo much 👍
Thank you! I had the same issue and for the life of me couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong. I almost reached out to Roofnest support
Thanks for walking us through this. I'm debating trading in a Willys for a Rubie.
My pleasure. Happy I could help . That would be awesome for sure . Good luck
Does the auto stop have an option to turn it off permanently or do you have to press it every time you get in? Do you have the v6 ?
You have to turn it off every time but you could purchase a tazer and shut it off permanently as well as change many other settings. I do have the v6 pentistar which I love . Plenty of power and a proven engine
There's a company called The Auto Stop/Start Eliminator out of W. Virginia. They sell a product for $100 and takes about 10 minutes to install that permanently shuts off the auto stop. It throws no codes and you can turn it off if you like at any time.
Was a good video but it's a little too fast.... slow it down a bit.
Thank you. It's just a preview of a full slow video coming in a few days. Lol. Appreciate it
good video
Glad you enjoyed
Great sweatcher!!
☺️ thank you 🥰
Great video! Great Info! sexy guy!
You're to kind love ❤️
Great video for a novice Thank you !
Glad you liked it! Thank you
I've got the hcalory and vtoman power bank with same issue. I'm using a leisure battery and still struggles to start, takes three attempts with battery on charge. Do i need that power supply then ?
They make batteries that can handle the start-up with no problems at all. I opted for a cheap inverter $15 dollars, .and I can run 2 diesel Heaters off it, no problem, friend. Just bear in mind that by doing this , I have noticed that my power supply is from 100 percent down to 10 percent in roughly 16 hours . But the 1000 hour batteries are huge money for a good one. This is what personally worked for me . Hope this helps. Any more questions, feel free to reach out . Cheers
@@Scottiegillespie Nice one brother, thank you.
I really like how you explain all that things on details 😍😍
Thanks so much 👍
The reason for the locking feature is some places require a locking fridge for Bears
Absolutely a brilliant point. Lol never thought of that 👍
There is not going to be any condensation in your tent when using a diesel heater. That's because diesel heaters put off dry heat. Unlike propane. Which will cause a problem with condensation. Great video and review!
Great point ! Absolutely, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it
be glad you got the auto. spoke with someone the other day who test drove a manual Jeep. Not only was the throw too long, it also blocked the lower switches when in lower gears.
That makes me feel even better. Thank you ! 👍
Been doing all my research. Glad I found this video. Gave it a sub and a like. Cheers!
Awesome, thank you . Happy it helped ☺️ cheers
I have the exact same Jeep! It’s amazing!
I have 2024 Rubicon XR and it’s absolutely amazing!!!
The converter…if I’m understanding you right, I can wire that up straight from my heater wire and plug into a standard 110 outlet thereby eliminating the need for a battery or power station? I intend to run this exclusively in my garage when I’m working in there. I’m going to mount this on a shelf and use my former pellet stove intake and exhaust piping to do those jobs. But I did want a straight into the wall outlet power supply instead of a battery or power station. This inverter should do that for me? Correct? Outstanding review. I’ll subscribe but I looked at your other videos and they aren’t any I would personally benefit from…although…you did do this one so, future videos are not necessarily out of the question!😎👍🏻 Thanks for your help. Oh, Vevors “heavy duty” carport….not so heavy duty! Didn’t survive 4 months in New Hampshire! But vevor is awesome! Full refund and I did not have to figure out how to return the destroyed one! Keep it they said! Well….i guess maybe I can find some use for parts that survived!🤷🏻♂️👍🏻 But vevor stands fully behind their products!
Hi friend. Thanks for reaching out. To answer your question on the inverter from 12 volts dc to 110 volts ac. You absolutely can cut a cord to an outlet and power your heater. Fun fact. There are two positive connections and two negative connections on this oh so cheap inverter. You can literally run two heaters at once, and I have. Rest easy it works. Just a heads up . Take a screen shot on your Amazon details of what's positive, negative and 110 volt output. There are no instructions when you buy it or wire placement. I took a screen shot on the wiring picture and zero problems. Enjoy friend
@@Scottiegillespie thank you most kindly!!! I’m ordering up right now! I want to run mine on a standard outlet but it seemed ill advised…but it works for you…as it should…so heck yeah!! Off to order! Thanks for the advice!! Screen shot noted!!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video demonstrating how great the lighting works
I'm happy you liked it. Thanks. Honestly the camera dosen't quite pick up how truly bright they are
Scott-cool walk through! Thanks! I am curious about the rhino rack-did you install it? Looks like it is bolted on-how does that affect warranty?
Thank you . I'm glad you liked it . I had a company install it called Main line overland. I personally didn't want to drill into the rooftop . No, it does not affect the warranty . The rack does come with great instructions. It was just something I was willing to pay a pro to do .
Absolutely sick ! What a difference and less fatigue on your eyes. Love it
For sure. Thanks
Run the exhaust pipe downhill
Absolutely. Mine is now. Didn't make that clear in the video. Thank you
Cool video, thanks for reviewing this tent. I noticed you said two or three inches in your video but the interior dimensions of the standard tent is actually 7 in more narrow than a queen size mattress at 53 vs 60 in. My wife and I are used to a king size bed and I'm really struggling trying to decide between the XL ABS version of the Condor 2 versus the smaller Condor 2 overland. I like the harder case of the overland and the ability to hang things off the side but I don't know how much stuff I really actually need to hang off there versus keep in a bin in my vehicle. How did you decide to go with the smaller bed and harder case versus the larger bed and ABS case?
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you. I actually measured a queen size bed in my house, and that's how I came up with the measurements, verses the dimensions off the website. if memory serves me only 2 to 3 inches shy length and width of the posted Roofnest posted dimensions. If you love being in a king bed, then you should look at the same exact tent as mine but the xL . But honestly, if it's just you and the wife with not a large dog or child ,in my opinion, my size is sufficient. Hope that helps. Check out their website. Dimensions are on the description. It's a great tent for sure.
Thanks, it is right at the exact dynamic weight limit of the rooftop rack of the rivian SUV that I plan to put it on. So I am basically stuck trying to choose between the hard shell standard size like you got or the ABS version in the XL. I know once it is dark and we are in the bed I think we will really like that extra room, but maybe it isn't necessary. A queen bed is absolutely 60 in wide, we just laid on ours with a measuring tape at 53 and it is a good bit narrower. I do like the hard shell versus the ABS though, tough pros and cons..
Ordering a 2024 two-door Rubicon X now that jeep has announced the 35 inch wheel and package is available on the two doors. I was never a four-door wrangler kind of guy but I guess if you’ve got a wife, kids and dogs you have to make do. Plus chicks dig two doors over four doors anyway
Awesome. Enjoy it . And yes on wife and dog for myself. Also if you do alot of camping like I do. The 4 door is a must for room lol. Send me a picture when you get it.
It's the watts it draws that shuts off the ecoflow. The delta2max is 12.6V 10A 126watts max and the DH can draw 200-250w on startup, when spikes over 126w it cuts out
Mine is the river 2 pro and has a much higher rating watts 880 peak 680 in normal mode. It's not the watts for me that's a problem. It's the hard 10 Amp lock out. Straight from the words of ecoflow tech support. I am now running it off a battery when camping. Thank you for reaching out. Appreciate it 👍
First of all exhaust has to drain, point it down, second of all if you live where winter is cold then the diesel does not gel it has the proper additives in it already, I use mine in -30c, third forget the amps my Ecoflow Delta2 runs my Vevor 8k full time even when I start it in extreme temps it never shuts off. Just buy a 12v to 110 20 amp converter is much cleaner and save you some work. I run 12' of 3" air duct into my tent and the unit does not overheat at all. Make sure you tighten everything on this heater out of the box most thing are loose but so far I have used it a lot outside and it is going great except it is hard on diesel.
Absolutely all great points for sure . 👍
I wonder if any of the keyboard experts have/do even own one?
😂 Exactly 👍
Nice shop
Thanks
thanks for theTIPS.
So many experts!! I’m surprised there isn’t a few thousand more TH-cam channels for all those with comment channels!! Like it…been looking for a while…it’s back ordered right now. I’m a big VEVOR fan!!
Lol thanks
@@Scottiegillespie it’s back in supply…ordered mine last night.
Your battery dc power must be on low side of a normal 12 volt battery. A fully charged 12 volt battery would see 13.2 to 13.5 volts. Just taking guess on voltage and amp. I have seen many tests which show these heaters hitting 10.5 amps on startup. They call them 8kw they truly are 5kw heater units. Take a look at the Maxpeedingrods brand, they come with heavy duty components which can be bought for any heaters, better quieter pumps, hose, etc.
It's not the volts . It's a hard 10 Amperage max lock out. The glow plug when heating up draws over ten amps. My power station runs all of my other 12 volt devices like my 55 Liter duel fridge. It's a problem with this particular power station. Thanks for your help 👍
You don't have to route the combustion air outside , but if you are doing anything in the workshop that creates dust then yes it either needs to be filtered very well or outside
Correct
All cold weather states have the diesel treated for well below zero. And colder in more extreme climates.
How is the noise at highway speed and how did it handle at 80 mph? Thanks….
Handles great at 80 mph, and sound is almost zero. There is much improvement from last year
lol VEVOR french chinglish?? add more funs to your day.
😂 you made me laugh, buddy Lol cheers
Would have been nice to see some snow wheeling! lol... thanks for the vid
Next time for sure. Lol Thanks
Cool
The first 10 minutes of your video is just purely unboxing and when you said you were going to angle your exhaust up well that’s a No,no as it creates a place for water to sit so the exhaust won’t go out and when you said that you’re putting your intake beside your exhaust because if it’s inside it’s going to suck air from inside through the doors and cracks I just had to shut your video off because you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Lol. Thanks for watching. Actually, I have been a licensed havcr technician for 30 years and have worked on boilers bigger than your house. Obviously, you misunderstood everything I said. You're not a good listener, obviously. Exhaust is never pitched up. I SAID ABOVE the fresh air, which Is code just like a manufacturer for venting outside. Try reading an installation Manuel with pictures. Might make more sense to you. anyone who knows a thing about combustion knows that exhaust cools and needs to be pitched down. And ALSO !! YOU PUT YOU'RE AIR INTAKE BELOW , BELOW YOU'RE EXHAUST. WOW.Anyways, thanks for the view. This is more for people to read that maybe be obviously as confused as you. Cheers
@@Scottiegillespie @ 11:24 you actually say you’re going to angle the exhaust up. I don’t care if you suck air from the outside with your air intake but if it’s on the inside what is being sucked in and what is being blown out creates a neutral atmosphere there is no sucking in of any cold air through the cracks that’s just ridiculous. I know I know even though they are your own words you won’t believe it. Can’t fix stupid
A lot of good points..I won't buy one for my campervan.
Thanks for your very in depth review! I’ve been debating on which way I want to go as far as heat for a small shed, plus something I could easily take along for an enclosed trailer. Answered every question I had plus more! Very well said sir
I'm so happy it helped ! Glad you enjoyed it
Kick ass❤ it
Q: did the cigarette lighter not power the unit up because it was DC and not AC ? Could using a bridge rectifier have solved the problem and allowed you to use the cigarette lighter supply? Good video I subscribed I’ve been looking at these units.
The unit is dc and the cigarette port is dc . The problem is the amperage draw. Ecoflow is a hard 10 amps Max . Not enough for the diesel heater. Glad you enjoyed it . Thanks for watching
Hey bud! Good video. I did one on this too. Mine is the same tent too. Love it!
Yes I saw yours. Loved it. Actually, I'm doing some sw
I saw yours. Great video. I'm doing some snow camping this weekend in it . Can't wait
