I wish to be a small gateway for learning and for the Dharma. Gate is also a Sanskrit word:
Gate, gate, pāragate, pārasaṃgate, bodhi svāhā
Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone utterly beyond.
Awakening, all hail!
Ultimately I wish to be a small gateway for the shore beyond.
Background
I have two Master degrees in Physics, and co-founded Buddhist Community at Duke. I have a strong background in Classical Chinese and have been practicing Buddhism since I was a teen. I have been involved in teen education for more than ten years, mainly through Cita Education, a company I founded.
I have been thinking of doing something, particularly for youth and teen education. Since the world has so much negativity lately, and the Los Angeles fire in January of 2025 have prompted me to take action. I have this idea of doing a channel to share the joy of Dharma and learning. I will do it via interactions (including with my dog), reflections, and chanting.
May our journey be fruitful, and joyful.

Glad it was useful . It was the translation by Kumarajiva. He style was more towards key point translations, rather than word by word translations . You could see from the English, alternative Chinese translations, and Sanskrit phrase that he omitted some terms , for example “shooting star”. Thank you .
This was a great point, and to add on, I think any effort put into a failed endeavor can be used as wisdom to try and accomplish that goal a second time. Also, I think Carrie and I were students of yours during the same class 😄

Thank you for a very good question. I went to look it up in cbeta, here is one reference 說法如藥，以治病為適。眾生偏執為病，佛欲使復於中道也。saying that the dharma is like medicine, suitable for curing sickness. Sentient beings have strayed attachment as sickness. The Buddha tries to let beings return to the middle way.

Where can I study in details? I want to read the whole sutra along with Sanskrit.
Hi, the plan is to chant the whole Sūtra section by section in Sanskrit along with translations. Then a few days afterwards have Q and A. Thank you for your interest. This week was just a soft launch of a popular phrase gauging people’s interest, then we will start from the beginning.

Based on your explanation, would it be fair to say that the chant (from the previous video) means that one should take a holistic view when approaching a problem because they must understand the full situation before addressing the issue at hand?
@@anirox1565 what you said is a good guideline. However there are times you have to act, may be a small act to stop the bleeding first, then solve it in the long term holistically. The chant is basically about seeing the world as transient and live accordingly
