Buy a box of sidewalk lights, put them out from 7am to 7pm, then bring them inside to light your home. Load up on blankets from yard sales, usually you can get them for a buck or two. Wear a hat at night at bedtime. Keep sand in a coffee can in case of small fires. Mylar sleeping bags will hold in 80% of your body heat, they cost $3.50. Load up on granola bars to keep up your energy level, it will keep you warm at night. Close all doors to rooms you absolutely don't need to heat. Cover open doorways with blankets. Store up old phone books and large pine cones for fire starters for your fireplace.

The beeping sound your smoke detector makes when the batteries need to be changed are annoying for a reason. The person in the video turns up the volume instead of changing the batteries.
