I just watched this again the other day and not only can I relate to her story of one of her best friends messing with her man but I also understood the lack of confidence she had and the way she really had to fight for her happiness after all those years..
@timothythornton6624 Becuz his father cared bout tha car more than his own son n daughter n his mother been gone tooken away from god so he been threw lot of shit.. can u blame him why he mad I can't I understand how he feels totes
Cheryl Pepsi Riley has a beautiful voice. I love her and Chaka’s version. Tyler Perry wrote this song though. Chaka Khan sings the original. I’m getting dizzy so I can’t watch but I’m listening. I was trying to follow along with the lyrics, but the camera is having a seizure or something😏
The scene brings me to tears when he finally breaks down. I’ve had a few of those moments where I wanted to do exactly that. Break things, scream the things that I normally couldn’t say, and finally let the torment out. He needed that and the dad needed to see it. That car is replaceable.
First heard this in fourth grade as a child. Couldn’t put my finger on it then. But her voice is gospel im personified. She is amassing. I wish this version was on Apple Music or featured in the movie soundtrack 🩷🫶🏾
Chaka did this song for the movie version soundtrack. But it doesn’t compare to Cheryl’s original version for the play. Her riffs and high notes are classic!
Cheryl’s cover of this song is the best I’ve heard to date. It’s even better than Chaka Khan’s version. It’s the emotion she delivers this cut with that’s unmatched. No one out does Chaka Khan.

She left no crumbs go head Cheryl‼️
Love love this song ❤Cheryl you did great
He even smashed his dads car
Fun fact: Megan Good used to play "Nina" on Nickelodeon's "Cousin Skeeter"
Cheryl Pepsii Riley, not Michelle
As angry as X was, vandalizing the car still warrants an asswhipping
why was he mad?
He said he was in a dark place filming this movie and this was the first scene they had him do so he was really feeling all that.

Cheryl sung this version before Chaka.
Let me tell you all how we men become much more sensitive when we’ve aged a bit.
