white yellow bike dr 350?
There were a few older Suzuki DR-Z400's from memory ... I can't remember if there were any 350's 🤔 .. However 350's are OK to use on a Sandraiders trip.
@RAWBikesTV thanks
Good work!
Great video mate, the XR looks fantastic! Im just in the process of getting my xrv 650 ready for sandraiders 2026. For future thread repair I can highly recommend Würth Time-Sert. Far superior compared to these crappy cheap helicoil things, which never really last over time.
Amazed you emerged unscathed! Couldn’t see how your pillion fared, how is D? Stressful watch from the wilds of Sussex! Cheers, Chris
It's a fab trip ... You would love it!! Great fun ... D is great thx ... It's about time we bought you a beer ... or three!
I have a 1988 xr600r and it's an awesome bike!!!!
Where did you get the mask for the machine? This is not an original part or ?
This is not original and is for a Suzuki DR650 … after market from ebay … it fits about 90%, so some slight adjustments needed ..
Hi Lovely capable bike with pedigree, the XR line! Quick question, was the £333.33 1 way shipping cost.or return? I ask because I did some research on getting my bike to Morocco last year and I got staggering quotes to get it to Malaga let alone Morocco. If shockingly that's the return cost do you mind sharing the freight company you used. Thank you.
Good day! … The £333 GBP (€400 is the charge) is the additional cost for UK shipping to the event (either Tunisia or Morocco) … this is for the return.. … bikes are dropped off at WMB Logistics in Gloucester… they only take the bikes into France and I believe Sandraiders collect them from Calais port … to keep the costs down. So in essence the €400 is to get the bike to Calais and customs handling etc (I would guess) … WMB are great and handle many 1000’s of bike shipments for the large manufacturers…. Sandraiders are good at keeping the costs down… I hope that helps….
Great film
Looks like a great ride. Xr was going well. Be interested to see what happened to the engine. Well done👍
Excellent
Great video Jeremy, nice to be able to watch over the trip again!
Fantatstic coverage Jezzer , you even got your off's which were spectacular ! Glad you survived in one piece but sorry to hear of your issues with the XR , I,m not sure there is much wrong , I cannot see a engine issue but more of something working losse , these XR's are built well. Carry on the good work , ATB
Thanks Jeremy, great documentary. Hope to see you again.👍
Hey Jeremy, great edit and very enjoyable to re-live the week around Tunisia. You made the bog of doom look easy - I've only just recovered from the mental scarring! See you at the next 👍
Thanks Adam… Hopefully catch up before long…
Awesome footage! What is the metal ringing sound your bike makes when lugging at low rpm? My 1987 XR600 makes the same exact noise. It’s never let me down but I’ve searched all over including a minor tear down to try to find it. No luck. I’m now thinking it might be my chain slapping on the case guard by the front sprocket.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride, Jeremy. The XR appears to be significantly more capable than the old Domi despite the shared DNA. I hope the damage wasn't too bad.
Another great video. What an adventure. I noticed a few modern bikes in the mix. Are these allowed now? Are you riding the XR at ABR this year?
Thank you ... Yes, a few have sneaked in but in the main it's pre-2000's .... Either re-builds not completed, or in some cases riders were bringing two bikes ... old entry bike + new as back-up... I've not entered ABR this year as yet ... I suspect I will be at the TT, so a few too many things going on unfortunately ...
The white Honda with the rally body panels, you're standing next to at timestamp 16:55 was that a Dominator too? Looks grate.
Yes, that is a Dominator with some mods.
I'm booked for Morroco 25. Who did you insure your bike with + yourself? The 650R is ready for MOT, but I can't find full comp with a green card. Cheers, Chris.
Sandraiders can offer insurance that you pay on arrival to Morocco … just let Marc know in advance that you require insurance… I believe it’s around €100 Euros… I could not find cover in the UK.
Good luck have fun. I'm very jealous. Il hopefully be there 2026
Sounded pretty comprehensive. Good luck - have a great trip
Good luck, I'm jealous! Pascal
I fully appreciate the advise you are freely giving to the Dakar inspired community. I subbed last video because you mentioned Perry Leaske in your last vlog. Spent many a time hanging over the ropes cheering on Perry Leaske as a teenager. Have a KTM 640 Adventure I’m rebuilding and I intend getting to Leaske for suspension rebuild and get to sand raiders 2025. Thank you for your help 🤘
Thanks for the comments ... Perry is a top guy and knows what he is doing... Look forward to seeing you there!
Excellent video!!! Thanks!!! Personally (riding for fun), I own and ride the same XR600R since 1994. (Is this 30 years? my god!!! 😂) I also owned and tested some other things... I would say that XR is a very universal purpose machine, but beyond that for some common dirty riding conditions it prevents pilot fatigue, much more that any other bike I tested. After some 4 hours following tracks with many mellon sized rocks my much younger friends with new style bikes are destroyed, while I feel little fatigue. A bit the concept that Scott Summers was explaining about his GNCC success. He was slower in the first hour, but well faster in the third hour. Of course the XR is a handicap in a trials section, specially if it stops 😂for some reason, but at the same time it is impressive how it climbs better than lighter new enduro machines in rought terrain, while not adding fatigue to the pilot. A total pleasure !!!
Might be a bit late, but if you're that way again, Bar El Acebuchal in the hills near Frigiliana is a nice place.
Hi Robert, thank you for the message ... funny enough we actually went there on a non-biking day with some friends. Great food ... "the lost village" I believe it was referred to... In the middle of nowhere down a dusty track....
@@RAWBikesTV Yep that's the one. Great traditional Spanish place. The rabbit stew was fantastic as I remember👍🏼
Great video! I will see you at Sandraiders Tunesia. I think you will love this bike. Im almost finished with my intensive kickstart training ;)!
Great video! I had no idea about ABR I’ll be planning a trip next year with my XR.
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Thanks for sharing and keep us updated
Hi I have a all original 1996 Xr600r 17000 klm no leaks or damage its for sale.
Hi John, will DM.
Hi, I'm not sure I can send DM to you? - I did try. I'm not sure I have room myself for another bike right now, but I if you send details via email I can ask within Sandraiders and others. jeremy.miles@raw-e.com
great work mister when the cost of upgrading a bike is not an issue then we do great bike works .. what i like most is the after market oil cooler and its guard ! , those bikes and many more air-cooled suffer from heat ,, so i would like to know who makes those coolers and where can find them and check for my bike ... ....
Hi, the oil cooler is Sutton Cycle Works ... suttoncycleworks.com/
@@RAWBikesTV many thanks friend my regards from greece , keep on riding ,,, and do your magic in your work shop there ,,,,,
Grande moto così non ne fanno più le rigeneri sempre e danno le stesse soddisfazioni di quando sono nate,ho un'xr 93 stupenda ❤
A part here and there, reality bites into the restoration dream pretty fast too, enjoy and have fun Jeremy.
Is that cyl head crack a common issue, l would be a bit concerned abt it but the builder seems to think it's ok and doesn't suggest any welding.
Hi, I'm not sure if it's common but the heads do crack and from over heating .. hence the oil cooler to help. I'm not sure it's going to be an issue only time will tell.
@@RAWBikesTVYes maybe leave it till the Winter then l would perhaps take head off and take it to a very well reputed ally welder.
Great service and value from HM Racing
Hi, HM gave great service .. Top bunch of guys!
Great content, looking forward to this journey 👌
More to come! ... I'll be recording in Tunisia Nov '24
For sale ?? I dream of a xr650r but none here in Ireland so a clean xr600r would also do
Hi, sorry not for sale as I intend to use for a few Sandraiders events and possibly others ... You can buy new/second hand XR650L versions in the USA .... XR600R's are hard to find in the UK .. Good luck with you hunt!
cracked head from plug to valve seat ..common problem on 4 valve honda heads...when that heats up the valve seat will fall out ...bye bye engine
Hi, yes that is a worry ... only time will tell... I do have spares but hopefully will not need them
I race XL 350 vintage Mx and it's quite a common problem. I've had a few heads with cracks there .. I wouldn't risk it ..
Great video! Which sand raiders event is better fun ? Tunisian or Morocco?
Hi, I've only been on the Morocco event... After November I can answer that question.... The Tunisia event only started last year.
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Keep producing more videos about the sand raiders festival.
Thanks, will do!
Great video and very beautiful XR600R .
Thanks a lot!
That looked like a nice Xr600 to start with but a comprehensive prep for the future well done.
Thanks 👍
Had both the dominator and the xr ,really hankering now for another XR great build good jpb it pays to be thorough especially in the Desert happy trails ...
Thanks
Great video love these bikes . One thing you should probably check. The two banjo bolts that hold the pipe between the head and crankcase are two different part numbers and have different size holes for the oil feed. The darker one goes next to the oil filter and the zinc one goes to the head. I noticed your head bolt was the darker one. Might be worth checking .
Thank you for the comment... I will check!
Enjoyed seeing your bike refurb. Well done 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice vid. Your channel and Harry M's have inspired me to run in Sandraiders, likely in 2026 now as 2025 is sold out.
Hi, maybe see you in 2026... Morocco 2025 sold out in two weeks!
Worldclass video record of this epic rebuild Jeremy!
Thank you ... very kind
Excellent video Jeremy :-)
Many thanks!
Good video and a detailed build. Busy renovating an XR400R for Morocco next year myself, so a useful reference.
Yep, me too, see you all there..
Glad it was helpful!... See you there!
@@RAWBikesTV - question for you: I have 2 engines for my XR600R - the original kicker and a 1998 NX650 with estart. They are both good - which would you choose if you were in my shoes? Thanks!
@@nicowarr ... The XR600R feels a bit more "peppy" than the NX650 engine but in fairness it's just been rebuilt... I like kick start engines for the Sandraiders as the battery cannot go flat but many prefer the electric start as if stalled on the side of a hill, it's much easier to get going .... In one of my Sandraiders 2023 (pt4 The dead camel), I got lost and dropped the bike... It nearly did not start and the battery was running low ... It made me think about having a flat battery in the middle of nowhere on your own 😳 ... Yes, we have an emergency GPS tracker fitted, so you should be safe .... It really depends if you are happy to "kick" ...
@@RAWBikesTV Thank you - just watched that video - losing your way must've been frustrating as hell! On the XR, how do you find it to kick when the engine is hot?
great video, don't know why you don't have more subscribers!
Hi, it's probably as the channel is new and not too many videos yet ... Perhaps over time ... Thanks for the kind words
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Keep producing more videos about the sand raiders festival
Hi.. Yes, we will have another for Sandraiders Tunisia recording in November '24 .. I'm a bit sow getting them out so bear with me ... XR600 build should be out in a week🤞
Hi Jeremy, are you going to post any videos of Sandraiders 2024?
HI, I did not participate in Morocco 2024 but will enter Tunisia 2024 in November... I am also booked for Morocco 2025. Both of these I plan to film. I have an XR600R rebuild that I have just finished (for Tunisia) and will post that video, hopefully soon.....
Look forward to the video and will see you in Tunisia, taking a XL600 RM
