it looks great! seeing all the beautiful black sistahs doing the big chop has me getting the courage to just do it and get it over with and stop playing scared lol
You got this! It's so liberating!!
girl! i wish i could look that cute going to bed 😂 but ahh man at one point i kept seeing that book everywhere but never cared to give it a chance but now i think i have to give it a try even if it’s from the library or something. thanks for putting us on !
Awww! Thank you!!!! Yes, please read it even if you just do the audiobook. You're going to have a blast!
Oh wow! Yay!
💞
I appreciate your transparency. So happy to see you back!
Good to hear you are feeling better. You look amazing as well! Akata witch sounds interesting. I have added it to my TBR (Just the Nigerian part, has me sold!😅)
So glad to have you back looking happy and well 🫶🏽 This Could Be Us was my fave book of May 💕 I just purchased The Good Girls Guide to murder and can’t wait to get into it.
Thank you!! I’m feeling much better!! Let me know your thought on AGGGTM! lol Pip is a character!!
@@SimplyDoanise I sure will. And you’re welcome 🫶🏽
I’m glad you’re doing better. I’m currently going through a depressive episode myself and reading is so hard! I read the first Good Girl book in May for my book club. I can’t wait to read the other 2.
Sending you lots of love!! It’s hard for me to read too when I’m in a rut even though books are my happy place. I think you’re going to love the second book!!!
So happy to see to see you back!!! 🎉🫶🏾❤️
Thank you!! Feels good to be back lol especially since I had a really good reading month! Hope you’re doing well!!
I agree with you. Booktube is the best content to watch on TH-cam. I love what you said about finding a book, a character that you can relate to and how you can find healing within a book. That is powerful. Your personality is great, and you have a great smile. I look forward to watching more content from you.
Aww thanks so much!
Girl…I feel everything you said. It’s sooo rough out here. There’s not enough time in a day. I loved Gabrielle’s first book!
Right!!! lol I need more hours or a better routine
I love your video I’m new to booktube and trying to navigate the same things. I started this a hobby be so nervous sitting in front of the camera and articulate my words
Heeey!! Thanks so much for dropping by! Welcome to Booktube! lol I totally feel you.. it’s quite awkward but I’m slowly gaining some confidence with talking in front of the camera so I hope you stay! I’ll check out your channel!
Welcome to booktube ! I hope you stay a while and grow your community 🤍. Adding you to my black booktuber playlist. If you’re looking for more black creators I have 60 on my page. Happy reading 🏝️
Thanks so much!! You’re so kind!! What a wonderful idea! I just checked out your playlist and found some great creators. Love this!!
Also akwaeke emezi uses They/Them pronouns not she/ her 🤍
Thanks so much for letting me know!! ❤️❤️
Concrete rose was so damn messy but funny and sad I loved it
Right!!!! lol it was!!
Soooo happy I found your videos! I relate to you in so many ways and I have binge watched all your videos. I hope you find another great read so you can share with us and add more books to my tbr 😂❤
Awwww!!!! This made my day!! Thanks so much!!! I’m so happy you’re enjoying my videos!!! I think I’m going to pick up Legendborn and hopefully it will get me out of this reading slump lol
Girl two books is great!!!!! I try to read 6-9 but I get it!!! ❤😂
Thanks girl!!!! ❤️❤️ you’re right!! I hate when I get into a book slump though lol
Omg I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea !
I think about this book daily lol
I have recommended Razorblade Tears to so many people. I mean from family, friends, to strangers. I 💯 % agree, it would make a fantabulous movie.
💯💯 totally agree!!!
Such a good reading month! Concrete Rose is on my list. I'm currently reading The Inmate. I haven't read any S.A. Cosby but I've been seeing mixed reviews. Maybe I'll get to their works at some point to judge for myself. 7DIJ is a much stronger Tia Williams book; TPF was meh to me. And you have me nervous to read TDOVO, but it's by Emezi so I have to read it.
I did pickup 7 Days in June and I’m excited to read it! I keep hearing great reviews. Emezi is such an amazing writer - I hope you read it!! Let me know if you do!
Viola Davis memoir was my top book for 2023. You have to hear her narrate it herself on audio Top Tier!!
Yasss!! I did love the audiobook
Lovely review and very important to inform about the triggers. I am currently reading one full of them and would never recommend before telling about it. Thanks! 😀♥
💯 totally agree! I know some people read for pure joy and entertainment lol but sometimes I pick up some books with darker themes
I dnf the perfect find...I couldnt... but razorblade tears... hands down best read of 2023... his writing is top tier... and I do believe that book has been picked up now.. hope they do it justice ❤ The death of vivek oji...omg no words...I read it from the library...had to go get my own signed copy
See lol you understand me so well 😂😂yes, I really do hope they make a good film out of Razorblade!!!
Hey girl, hey! So glad I came across this video. I loved it! Yooo.. Razorblade sounds a little scary for me🙈 But it absolutely sounds like a book I need to read. 😅WOW!
Hey girl hey!!! Omg I love your channel! Thanks for stopping by! So glad you enjoyed it. I simply believe that Razorblade Tears should become a staple read for everyone lol it’s THAT GOOD!!!
Hi I'm new on here and I want to say I enjoyed the video. I own 2 of the books you mentioned. (The perfect find, and The death of Vivek Oji) but have yet to read them. I hope to get to them sooner than later. As for razor blade...I have heard many a booktubers talk about it and it sounds like a heart-breaking story. Am I mentally ready for it? I don't know!
lol honestly you’re not mentally ready!!! It’s definitely one of those books that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster but it’s soooo worth it 😂😂😂
Downloading Concrete Rose right now! I didn’t know The Hate U Give had a prequel!
Yes!! I hope you enjoy it! Let me know!
The Death of Vivek Oji! That book nearly took me out. So good and so heartbreaking.
So heartbreaking!!! I really love Awaeke Emezi’s writing style. They are one of my new favorite authors!
When I say I also read Razorblade Tears in February & I think about it daily ! I did a review on my channel about this book as well &&& I was CRYING REAL BAD AND LITERALLY!!! Omg! I looveeee Buddy Leeeeee
Girl I saw your video and fully resonated with you crying at work reading this book lol I have a good feeling I know exactly what part took you out lmao because I was crying my eyes out at the end!!!!!
Of the books reviewed, I've only read Razorblade Tears and I also believe it would make a good movie.
I’m pretty sure one is in the works!!!!!
Omg I hope so!!!!
WILL SMITH’S Memoir was amazing!!!!!!!! I loved the audiobook so much. I always tell people to listen to this one. It’s an entire production!!! I just added the physical copy to my birthday wishlist. I pray one of my loved ones get it. 😂😂😂😂 I enjoyed Viola Davis’ as well. But like you said, it did center a lot about her childhood and 🥲🥲 The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a 5 ⭐️ read for me. Which surprised me because I don’t do historical fiction. I enjoyed Before I let go. I can’t wait until the 2nd book comes out. Verity was very fast!
New subby here! I got into the BookTube side of things at the beginning of the this year as well. With book reviews I do the first half of my video on the rating, why I rated it, how I felt about it and what the book was about. Then I do spoilers on my 2nd half after giving a fair warning. Because I be ready to tallllkkkkkk 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey hey! Thanks for subscribing! That’s such a great format for reviewing books lol I’m always so scared about spoiling the book so I may try to do this in my videos because I too am quick to get into the tea of the story LMAO
I am currently listening to Allegedly via audiobook. This is my 2nd time reading the book. I enjoyed this book. I think the thing with books and me is I enter a book knowing all of this is fake and can be based on real life events. So I try not to get invested enough to be upset about certain situations because I know the ending can be over the top sometimes 😂. But this is also coming from someone that hasn’t experienced this type of thing as well. This was not my favorite book from her though. I think my favorite is Monday’s Not coming.
I really wish I could do that lol I get overly invested in every book that I read and then I be on an emotional rollercoaster LMAO i’m ridiculous. My favorite book by her was Grown and I did really enjoy Monday’s Not Coming.
I’m also new to BookTube! We like very similar genres 😊 Looking forward to your videos!
Love your channel name! I will subscribe and check out your videos.
@@SimplyDoanise aww thank you!! 😊❤️
I really wanted to love The Midnight Library but I rated it 2.5
I hear such mixed reviews about it. I definitely think it’s a book to recommend to someone who is in the midst of feeling hopeless. It could be a great story for someone to find hope during dark times. However, the story did tend to drag on a bit lol
I DNF My Sister Is A Serial Killer. Just did not get into it.
Lol i totally get it because that younger sister was on my NERVES!! There were also some subtle narratives about the older sister that triggered me as well so it is not an easy book to get into
I am about to do my review vlog on Before I Let Go.
I will definitely watch your vlog about Before I Let Go. I am planning to order the next book “This Could Be Us”
Kindred was absolutely great!! I plan on reading it again.
I loved The Seven Husbands of Evenlyn Hugo. I gave it 4 stars also.
You read a lot of books I’ve read or are on my TBR to read this year. Happy to hear that you like them.
Awesome! Glad to hear that because I love finding people who are into similar genres!
