Overnight camping trip with my dog (New Gear)
In this episode, Remi and I take a trip up into Dixie National Forest in Utah for an overnight camping trip. I have some new gear I am testing out. A 10’ X 10” MC TOMOUNT Canvas Bell Tent with a stove jack. I will also be reviewing the Teton Sports -35°F Bridger sleeping bag along with the Lost Horizon 52” sleeping pad. All of this gear is made for cold weather camping. It’s not supposed to get too cold, but it is scheduled for heavy rain and snow. All of the gear that I used worked flawlessly. The sleeping bag was amazingly comfortable and kept me warm all night. Even too warm sometimes. I did let a little air out of the pad and it worked perfect. I didn’t get to test the tent as I wanted to, but it did get some freezing rain and held up well. It is only considered water resistant and is not treated.

DIY Portable Solar Generator (2,560Wh on wheels) Start to finish
มุมมอง 3.7K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Want to know how to build your own portable power station? In this DIY video I show how I built a 1000W, 2,560Ah Portable Solar Generator for under $1000. It has 2 Lithium Iron Phosphate-100Ah batteries, 30A PWM charge controller, and a 1000W 12v inverter. The Bluetooth can be monitored from the app on your smart phone. All set within a 60Q cooler on wheels. Great for camping/glamping or backup...

DIY Solar Generator Build | Beginner Friendly (5,120Wh)

In this video I show how I built a cost effective Solar Generator for around $1,900.00. It has four Power Queen, 100Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries wired in Parallel, producing a whopping 5,120Wh's of power run through a 2000W inverter with two 30A PWM Charge Controllers. I monitor all power movement through a 500A Renogy battery monitor. I utilize two 400W solar arrays (800W) for charging....
Winter Camping in the Snow with Wood Stove | Me and My Dog
มุมมอง 1.8K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this episode, Remi and I are hot tent camping in a OneTigris Rock Fortress TeePee Hot Tent. We didn't get any snow this trip. Just a lot of wind. It did get down to 16°F/-9°C, but we were both warm all night. The OneTigris Tent Stove is a great addition to cold weather camping and provided much needed heat while inside. Of course, we didn't let the stove run all night. So, the sleeping pad p...

This is a great video, thank you for posting. I'm looking to do something similar on my shell. I do pesticide work and have a 12v pump connected to a water tank and small lithium iron phosphate battery, but I'm looking to add a panel to the roof to power that pump and a couple of small fans. My truck already has an inverter but I want a separate system to run everything when the truck is off

It goes down pretty good. I don't know if it will synch down to a 65L. There will be quite a bit of looseness within the pack (which could make for a miserable hike). But, depending on how far you are going, it might not be that big of a deal for you...

I would switch to MPPT Solar charge controller. The Renogy panel has Max Power at STC 100 Watts (20.4 Vmp x 4.91 Imp) Open Circuit Voltage 24.3 V Short Circuit Current 5.21 A Optimum Operating Voltage 20.4 V Optimum Operating Current 4.91 A So max battery charge current from the PWM solar charge controller will be only around 4.9A, but if you use MPPT you will get more charging current, 20.4V x 4.91A = 100W, the MPPT will convert 20.4V to battery charging Voltage of around 13V = 100W/13V = 7.69A of battery charging current using the MPPT.

Really nicely done. I’d have been tempted to chuck a usb output or 12v output in there from the battery to save on the efficiency losses from the inverter (ideally being able to turn off the inverter would be my plan of action as they waste quite a bit just ticking over) but otherwise it’s spot on!

Just stumbled onto your Coyote 105 review from a peripheral search. I still have and use my customized 1996 made Red Cloud 110, provided to my 1996 Mosquito Coast Sea Kayak Expedition by the Kelty company. I and my other expedition member used these super robust pro backpacks in some of the World's harshest jungle in remote far eastern Honduras, 28 years ago. I still own that Red Cloud today, and its 100% serviceable today. On the Mosquito Coast expe, we loaded these packs with 56 to 70 LBS of gear. Full disclosure: Kelty was one of the several gear supporters to our expedition.

Nice setup. I'm doing something similar to my super duty with a metal ARE topper. The truck already came kitted out with an industrial 1800w inverter and 2nd battery. I'm just going to wire into that and set it up to start the engine if the solar can't keep up on cloudy days to pick up the slack. Its going to for now run an air conditioner this summer.

My only complaint is your wiring of the batteries. Wire your batteries to a bus bar to make it a cleaner set up. Or wire up battery to battery all negative, all positive. I previously made a similar set up with a 24 volt batteries which use smaller wires therefore a bit cheaper in wires. Now in the process of building a 51 volt whole home back up. Lastly you can wall mount those panels to get the full potential power out of them.

I would suggest losing that cheap, failure prone Chinese made, low surge capacity high frequency inverter and installing a low frequency, transformer based inverter instead. Your system will last a whole lot longer and you'll be able to start and run the high inductance loads that you're going to need to run during an emergency.

Thanks for sharing! Put all of those panels in parallel!! PWM charge controllers do not convert DC to DC preserving power like an MPPT does. You will get double the amount of power just by putting 4 sets of panels in parallel for each of your PWM controllers.

what it means is you would have 25 hrs of battery, you have enough panels to fully charge your batteries and use your invertor at the same time. with the solar you have about 29.5 hrs till your batteries die on a sunny day. so if it was cloudy the next day your out of power

You can get a pecron 2000 watt power station with an expandable battery giving you 5120 wh's with 1700 watts of solar input for 1898 total out the door. I love your build. I want to do one but with a bigger inverter. I would love to get an ecoflow or bluetti but they are so over priced. Nice advantage of your system is if something broke you can easily swap it out you can not do that with power stations. That's a huge advantage in the long run.

The beauty of DIY is making something useful with items you already own. Usually when we make something cool like your solar gen we learn along the way. If you were to build everything from scratch using the same amount of money +/- 10%, what would you do differently? (Example: 24v,or 48v. MPPT controller with bluetooth app, etc...)

    • @AnotherDayInTheWoods
      @AnotherDayInTheWoods 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I did build everything from scratch. Custom cut all cables, crimped, heat shrink, etc... I wouldn't change anything on this build. I built it just the way I planned with room for expansion if I wanted ex. DC plugs, USB ports, etc...
