    I absolutely loved your tutorial! And your choice of fabric was really lovely as well. I am definitely adding a zipper to my bag when I make this one! I'm thinking about adding D rings at the top to make a crossbody strap instead of handles (or make the handles quite short just to grab the purse in addition to the d rings). And I'm wondering if the lining needs to be partly top-stitched near the zipper? So it doesn't rise up and get caught in the zipper? Thank you so much for making this tutorial. 😊

      Shorter grab handles paired with a crossbody strap is a great idea! ❤️ Including the lining is definitely an option when topstitching the zipper. I don’t typically have issues with it bunching and getting stuck in the zipper but it might depend on your lining fabric choice?

    This is not really a beginner level. If you had practice with zippers and seams, this would be good start. My fabric ripped while trying to dig foam out and I used a 1x1 scrap from the corners to patch the rip. Again, I would not recommend this to someone who has no experience with zippers and would recommend learning how to make a bag without foam and box before tackling this project so you can get some practice in first.

    i followed your lead on making this tote. i had leftover fabric that i made into strips and it turned out really nice i must say. i didn't line mine because i didn't have any whole fabric so i used woven interfacing. i ordered a jelly roll so i want do this one again.

    I like to tack my lining down so it stays together when you wash it. I do my outer bag right sides together, inner bag right sides together, then box my corners using the triangle method with my fingers, sew straight across, then sew the lining at the triangle. Because you're going to do a topstitch, I just make the bag like it's already done, then fold my tops in with the handles in between the 2 layers. I use a double needle for the topstitching with a SS stitch (not zig zag or you'll break both needles but back and forth) so you can have up to 3 different colors of thread if you wanted. This way I can have a bunch of bags ready that all I have to do is the top portion. No guessing if the handles are twisted because you can see them. Hope that helps.

    • @AngieKT327
      @AngieKT327 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For what I used with this bag, the fabric came prequilted and double sided. It’s called double faced quilted fabric, and I got it at Joann Fabrics

    I’ve made heaps of bags in that pattern and I never use spray glue on them, I just sew the strips on the batting which quilts at the same time. Sometimes I add a bit more quilting, but not always.

    • @AngieKT327
      @AngieKT327 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t, other than topstitching at the end, and haven’t had any issues since it’s so small. I made a larger blanket using 2 yards front and back, and on one that size I think a little bit of quilting once it’s all topstitchced, is helpful in keeping it together, but still not really needed

      Using a woven interfacing on cotton fabric before layering on the foam helps with wrinkles. I find that without woven interfacing the fabric wrinkles like crazy in the finished product
