I'm not great at chess or checkers, but couldn't you just open c3 and spend the whole game waiting with Qc2/Qd1 back and forth until the checkers run out of moves? People are talking about just keeping the king on white, but that seems to be overthinking it. Since checkers aren't allowed to move backwards, the board state would always advance, and you wouldn't stalemate.

I think half of the checkers should start on white squares and the other half on black squares. Additionally, when a checker reaches the opposite end of the board, player may change the color of the square it it moves on. Something like pawn promotion in chess.
