What if you have some older thicker canes and don't see any nodes. If you clip too far above a node, will that node not grow ? Another question, everyone says to remove spindly growth but wont thin branches thicken over time?

Love these trees! We planted one in the fall of 2020. It was beautiful until the fall if 2021. One day the leaves turned a gorgeous orange colour then the next day all leaves fell off. It is now spring of 2022 and we are crossing our fingers for its survival. What went wrong? Bottom branches snap off but mid to upper still have the promise of life (green inside) can it be saved?

My husband ran over my floribunda roses with the lawnmower. Now they are a stump. How long do you reckon before they grow tall enough and start blooming?

What's the taste like of sorbus aucuparia fruit?

Bitter taste, but if added a lot of sugar you can make a great jam, chutney or marmelade

Hello.I saw this video and I was wondering if you give me some information how to cultivate or plant new Mountainashes.I am from Albania and in my village people have destroyed these trees until there are only two plants left and they are very old.I have some forest lands in my ownership and I want to plant new mountainashes in order to bring them back to their natural habitat. In my lands we had such trees but because I lived for some years in Greece and they weren't protected, people cut them and sold them for medicinal purpose. Now my lands are isolated and protected and there is no way people can destroy them. They are yellow fruit mountainashes.Any advice would be precious to me. Thank you in advance.

This is a tree known to leaf out later than most of our natives, like Maples, in the west. When noticing it's lack of leaves in the spring flush of growth It was assumed to be dead or dying until I looked closer to see the tightly wrapped leaves beginning to unfurl near the ground. Beech trees are one of the most beautiful of all for the extra show they give all fall. Tough leaf structure and hardwood, gives us a durable cloth we call Tensile. The now Extinct Passanger Pidgeon left its favorite tree behind for our use and appreciation.

Why does the guy talking say only plant one of the Purple Fountain trees?

does it need pruning and did you ever stake it? Mine looks like its leaning after this horrid winter.

No, that is part of its character, and it should only be pruned if it damaged.

I had a purple fountain beech about 7 years. I moved and brought my tree with me. I hope it wakes up and thrives this spring! I will be the greatest if it does! Such a nice tree, I'll be the best house on the street landscaping wise if she wakes up after winter.

It’s been 8 years since your comment. I’d love to know if she survived the move!
