The blue line gangs need to be dismantled and the United States needs to have Germany train cops and all US should have the same quality and training. To be a cop in Germany, you have to have a bachelor's degree to apply, pass all the tests that show you are not easily triggered, followed by a 3 year master's degree in law enforcement and policing. Then they are on probation for 7 years. If a German cop violates someone's rights, they are fired and can never work for the German government.

This is a disaster waiting to happen. We are completely doomed as far as the next generation of Police Officers will be. Who will they hire? High School Graduates. What sort of High School Graduates will they hire? Those with no options, and no hope of getting into college. There is no way these new hires will have what it takes to be Police Officers. No way, no how. They will recruit the dumb ones, the unqualified ones, the uneducated ones, the ones with no option to make nearly as much as they will earn as police officers anywhere else. It will be a complete disaster to society in general. They will violate more laws, more Civil Rights, more Codes of Conduct, more Constitutional Rights than ever before. A fucking train heck coming our way. Just wait and see.

Like many agencies that are hurting for employees, stop having ridiculously high standards that are out of reach for most. Stop running applicants through ridiculously long and unnecessary hiring processes. Polygraph and psych are both good examples of that. Neither one ascertains whether or not the applicant is actually fit for duty. The selection process should take no longer than a month to complete. They lose good applicants that find other work getting the run around at a lot of these agencies.
