Riding the lifts up at winter park, about to do some mountain biking.
I am newbe to cruising, I have lot of sailing experience. But never open water. I am thinking of Galveston to Yucatan. Is this possible? Straight across the the gulf.
Absolutely. They used to even have some regattas like that. Just pick a good weather window. Hard to turn back from the center

galveston to anywhere is possible, with the right boat and planning. how ever long you think it will take, be sure to plan provisions for twice as long or more, and you should be fine.

Hi. I'm sailing from clear lake to long beach Mississippi. Just west of gulfport ms. I'm good in open water. Stressing getting out of the bay from kemah though. Will solo my 27' hunter. Planning to shove off tomorrow morning or Tuesday. Nav lights not working and can't figure it out, so I got battery lights and a bunch of batteries. Going s se out of the bay until clear Louisiana, then n nw to long beach. Any pointers?
@seagypsy's Adventures sadly, outboard pooped out leaving marina. I spent a few days trying to get her running and reaching out for assistance with it. Ran out of time and lost the vessel. Was too much going on with covid shut downs. Are you sailing offshore? The ditch is never an option for me.

Are you the Coast Guard? Theres no requirement to carry a life raft.

Great video!! Charish these times and do them as often as is possible. I have many fond memories of sailing from Corpus to ports all along the gulf to the Florida Keys and Bahamas Islands. My wife and I spent many peaceful and rewarding days sailing blue water. Sadly, we grow older and become somewhat less able to do these things. As you know, open ocean sailing is different from sailing a lake or bay and one must be able to physically handle the demands should the weather go south. But, ahhh what memories. Enjoy your boat and sail her a often as you can.
No close-up footage of the offshore oil rigs? Too bad, do you have to keep a certain distance? I can't wait to learn how to sail!
