Is it bad for them to not go dormant?
Mine came in a burlap sack, do I have to remove it so the roots can breathe?
So no they don't need to go dormant. They naturally do that inside with less light. Frost and things will end them. And great thing about burlap is it's breathable material.
Can the queen palm be trimmed down when you bring it inside?
You can to a certain degree but I wouldn't trim them like a normal tree. And I wouldn't cut the fronds in half it leaves it open for infections.
Sorry to hear that, hope things turn around for the better.
@@Yellowbellytropics thank you I hope so too
Mines just heals and the stalk grows 1 me branch and it goes straight up I just want 4 branches with 1 leaf on each branch so I can continue the braid I think I'm going to vlog this so I can show ppl it can be done I've seen very few videos on YT

@@stackorstarve.6510 it's so nice to know there is a local watching my channel! I appreciate you watching and I'm glad you notice my garden!
I’m new to this, my boyfriend brought two home. He thought they didn’t need much water. I see the palms drying out so I started watering them every day (spraying the palms down and stems) not so much the soil. Should we water the soil too? Everyday? My palms are yellowing and idk what to do. Can you please tell me some tips? I’m thinking it’s because the temperature has gotten cooler. Until I seen your video saying that you give them a gallon a day. I do hear others saying not to overwater them. Your explanation makes sense to how they naturally grow. I had them for about two mths and they are just starting to yellow and they’re indoors.
Also should I take them outside?
@@toshapope5644 hello. Yes I've seen pics where they actually plant them straight in ponds in Florida. They do require lots of water. Also normal plant fertilizers just arnt enough. You need proper palm firtlizers. There very hungry plants. And yes in the summer I'd definitely take them outside after adjusting them in shade for a week to two weeks. They love sun, or you can keep them in shade. But putting them outside would definitely help them.
love banna plants. look so tropical. good work brother 👏

finally got that sabal minor! your most cold hardy palm in your collection 🥰
@@prairiepalms second cold hardiest palm ! I'd say needle palm probably tops it!
nice Hyophorbe lagenicaulis! its not slow growing indoors at all, very fast! but the difference between the verschafelltii you saw at the nursery and the lagenicaulis you bought is that the crown shaft is shorter and the fronds droop much more which will not be a detriment to your ceiling height for a long time.

Thank you, i will try repotting with better soil!!
Can I revive my lemon cypress after it wasn't cared for properly??
It depends in how bad it looks and if the foliage is dry all over the plant.
I bought a fern from a plant store that said it was an ostrich fern. Planted in a pot with filtered light and did fine all season but now we are at the end of April and I don’t see any sign of life. 😢Is this normal?im in zone 5 Il
Sadly it means it passed away. They don't really like it to cold and if the ground freezes it more then likely died. I never allow my pot to freeze.
Ugh I thought they were good in a zone 5. What would you suggest I plant in a fern? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@@thegreenthumb6184😅 they need to get used to the weather they aren't in Florida !
@@Snoopypalms yeah it will definitely have to adjust and become an Indiana grown palm. It wasn't long it had seedling leafs I'm sure cuz the others still do I'm sure it will adapt just fine since it's still technically young and be better adapted soon to the cold here.
@@thegreenthumb6184yeah
you can drag them out, you are still a young guy 😉 if i can drag 25 of them in and out, you can do your Ravenea 😉❤
I work 12 hours at night. I wouldn't have the time to do that. They would mostly die. That and I prefer them in the ground cuz they can get tall and I wouldn't have to worry about having to sell them or anything. I just gotta worry about if government housing tells me to dig them up. Lol.
@@thegreenthumb6184you could just say they was already there when you moved in lol
@@Yellowbellytropics lmao. Oh there not going to believe that one bit. I'll just claim there annuals. Right now I don't have to worry mainly cuz they look like weird shrubs. I could get away with shrub palms on the property but I mean come on. I really wanna see something trunk other then the normal trees here.

Interesting. Like I said depends on your location cuz you are cooler in climate then we are too. Plus need it in a place that holds more moisture. And yeah it does and the flowers are swelling up on it. I can't wait to see it bloom !
