Milky Chance Matters
Milky Chance recently announced their long-awaited return to South Africa with their “Living In A Haze” tour in February 2024 which will see them perform in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
I chatted to the German duo in December to talk about their rise to fame ahead of their South African return.
Their 2019 single “Life Without Fantasies” reached the top of the South African viral charts amassing millions of streams in 2021 during Lockdown.
The band connected with tens of thousands of fans online which led to their first sold out headline tour. They have continued to cement themselves in the industry here, having toured the country a number of times over the past few years and return in February 2024 to share the stage with Milky Chance in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Sean Koch is one of SA’s most-loved indie-folk artists who brings a mixed bag of African and western, influence alongside messages of home, a connection to nature, the ocean and the people around him; to his storytelling, feel-good music. While rooted in his flowing-folk style, his music is diverse. From dance infused songs like ‘Lift You Up’ the standout single from his collection (including the Double MZK & G DOM remix) to the dreamier songs like ‘Feel the Energy’ that carry deeper messages of connection to the natural world and the people that surround us. There is something for everyone in Sean’s catalogue.

Australian singer, songwriter, musician, and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd returns to South Africa in February 2024. In this short interaction, I relished the opportunity to connect with someone entirely connected to their reality. Take a listen and happily choose to disagree. Before launching his solo career, Rudd began playing music as part of the band 'Xavier and the Hum'. He drew inspir...

Welcome back to The Gathering, you are all very, very welcome. With just 16 days left before we press on, the past week saw more orders coming in. We’d just need to know where you in order to factor in Postnet fees along with the price of the CD. You can let me know what you are willing to pay for it and we can go from there :-) Thanks, Jason

Robert Plant looks like he has a hair piece. I'm not knocking it, I am pretty much the same age as he. Shit happens and we get old, it's a fact of life. I loved Zeppelin when they came out and I love them still to this day. They have withstood the test of time. You can't say that about most bands.

Thank you for this! I've heard so many 5-minute "interviews" with David online. I've been waiting for something longer. And this is a true gem! I discovered David in the '80s not because I knew about Japan, but because I was a Jon Hassell fan. David Sylvian, Jon Hassell, and George Harrison have really been life-long mentors for me. They taught me how it all works together. And in this interview, just in passing, the topic of "putting the songs in order." A childhood vision, I went on to work in radio for most of my life...putting things in order. And let us all honor and love the mistakes we make in life! So true...
