Doesn’t a boat have oars? 🛶
They are giving oars to passengers on Symphony of the Seas right now!
@@parrot1233 sorry for trolling but as much as it’s not a big deal for some reason it always makes me cringe lol when people call that beautiful ship a boat. Great content though!
No apologies necessary... someone else pointed that out to me and it's a great point. Since then, I find myself still calling it a boat from time to time even though I conscientiously try to remember that it's a ship! It is an important distinction and one that these ships deserve!
Very helpful, thank you! I’m going on Icon next month. I’m debating on if I should book all of my shows/entertainment now or if I should wait until I get onboard to book those around restaurants. Any suggestions? (PS I love your excel spreadsheet and will be making one)
I think its better to do at home at your leisure versus on day one on the ship... first entering the ship is such an exciting time, especially Icon! You don't want to have to worry about planning everything out... have the plan ready to go so you can get your reservations out of the way and get to exploring!
Thanks for this video. It is the clearest and most comprehensive explanation I have found. We decided to take $1000 to play slots last month after seeing some vloggers do it. Got very lucky took home $1300 and Prime status. yay!! Anyways, the questions I still have are 1) we got 3 instant rewards(three short sailing) and those can only be applied to new bookings and not existing bookings 2) Since we got Prime on 9/29/2024, we will have Prime until March 31 2025 or 2026?
Thank you! And congrats! I believe instant certificates can only be applied to new bookings. If you got Prime a few days ago, you will keep Prime from April 2025 to March 2026.... you will recieve your free annual cruise offer roughly in April/May 2025 and it needs to be used to cruise before March 2026. Within that time period, you need to reearn prime to keep prime from April 2026 to March 2027.
It's a crapshoot. I took a weekend cruise last year on Royal. Parlayed that into an interior stateroom 7 nights on the nicest ship in the Ocean JMO. The Celebrity Ascent. Scored 4K+ points on that cruise and just got back from a weekend on celebrity reflections veranda, where we got another 1300 points. Have a Wonder coming up for Halloween. On the Ascent in Dec and a short KSC New Year's Eve cruise. Funny thing is I went to pitboss on recent trip and said I felt I was under rated on last cruise. So I opened Roulette with a $90 bet, then I went to $10 and $20 like normal. They had me playing 13.5 hrs at $80 a hand. All that BS to reiterate it's a crapshoot. Also Celebrity drinks always free in the casino and if you find a bartender and tip him a few bucks he'll always have a pre dinner or post dinner drink when he sees you. Cheers. Nice content
Squeaky wheel gets the oil!
If you love cruising this is for you! It’s not that hard to hit choice status. I never gamble but old folks I met showed me how to get free cruise playing craps. for 13 days i win some lose some. end of the cruise i got 1300 points only spending 300$. i thought ill only get one free cruise. so far this year my wife and i took 9 cruise with just taxes and fee & gratuity . We also got a Balcony offer 🙌. Great video 🎉! So this year i only have 600 points tier will i stop receiving all the reward im getting and the choice status by april? if i don’t hit 1300 points?
Choice is entry level when you sign up and includes 0 to 2,499 points. In addition to the instant offer you got for earning 1300 points on one cruise, you were sent additional marketing offers. You will continue to recieve those marketing offers (although they will diminish over time) if you are only at 600 points this year. However, Choice status is earned at 2,500 points and includes additional perks such as free drinks and a free annual cruise of your choice (not a marketing offer).
I'm going to Icon of the Seas on Mar 29 2025, very tricky timing. Do you know if the tier credits that I earned on the first three nights will be carried over to the next year, or will they simply expire?
I leave for a cruise in a week and will double check for you but I am fairly certain the points earned on a cruise are credited in full on the last day of the cruise. So the first three nights would be credited toward the next year.
Hello, this points resets every year?
Yes on March 31st
I should of asked the casino service desk this but I just got off of Icon and got the instant cruise reward for an interior room. We're planning on booking a 7 night interior for January. On that January cruise I most likely will hit prime. Will I still get a second cruise offer for hitting prime even if I take this instant cruise reward?
Yes! You will get many offers... first, you will receive an instant cruise offer depending upon your play on the January cruise. Second, you will most likely recieve marketing offers, that are unrelated to your play, each month now that you are in the program. Finally, if you hit Prime after January's play, you will receive a 7-nught free cruise on a cruise of your choice (with a few exceptions) and you will receive that in April as the casino calendar goes April to March. You'll have to use that offer during that 12-month period. Hope that was clear enough!
The “Pineapple” on cruises?? Hmmm… I love new you tube channels but I’m not sure if I want the algorithm bringing “Pineapples” into my feed! Congrats on stepping into the space of vlogging!
🤣🤣
Wheelchair users will find this ship a nightmare at or near capacity. We regularly had to wait up to a half hour to get on the elevators while we witnessed lazy people going up and down just one floor.
This is a great observation.... a ship the size of Wonder needs the elevators on Icon. Without them, the sheer size and volume of people makes the elevators a nightmare for everyone.
Your video is MUCH more helpful than everyone elses. Thank you!
Much appreciated!
Can I make my reservations for the specialty restaurants on the Royal Caribbean app instead of walking up to the kiosk?
Only if you buy individual dinner reservations which is much more expensive. With 3-night or unlimited you have to wait until you are on the boat.
What about if your on the Adventure of the Seas ship which does not have all the specialty dining options as the Oasis , do you still think its worth the $340.00 a person for the unlimited Dining Option
We were just on Adventure and still did the package. The meals do get repetitive, and the Izumi on Adventure has a limited menu so we only ate at Chops and Giovannis. However, while not as much value as the newer ships with various options, we still think its a no brainer.
It’s been a couple years since I have cruised on RC so I don’t recall but can’t you make your specialty dining reservations on the app? As well as show reservations? Thank you. Great video and very informative
Show reservations yes but only on Oasis class ships. Dining reservations only if you but the one night or two night specialty dining. With three night and unlimited you have to wait until you are on the ship.
How is Super cell unlike any other slide at sea when 3 other Oasis class ships have the same slide?
Very very fair! Supercell is unlike any other slide at sea other then the other Supercells 🤣🤣.
I have yet to see a dining package worth any of the prices offered. People often forget that you have already paid for your meals at the main dining room PLUS you have paid for gratuities for the main dining you should NOT be charged for if you get speciality dining. So if you get it, then you are paying for 2 main meals per day, plus double gratuities. I've noticed you will typically pay about 50.00 per person per meal/day with the gratuities even at their lowest "discounted" prices. I don't think it is really worth it to me, but to each their own.
I think you captured it perfectly when you said to each their own. It is a great point about 'double paying' since you already paid meals and gratuity. However, I find people fall into one of two categories. The first doesn't care about the atmosphere in which they eat, they want to dress casually, and they don't consider themselves foodies. In this instance, the main dining room is more than formal enough, and people often also eat at WindJammer or other complimentary eateries just to get the meal done. The second likes the elevated experience of the specialty dining because it is a bit quieter, more similar to a restaurant, and the waiters take their time and don't shuffle you in and out. The food is also 'by far and away' better than the main dining room. If you fall into this second group, no amount of money (that you can afford) isn't worth investing to get what you want out of the vacation. To me, an extra $500 on the unlimited dining package on a 7-day cruise (especially a larger ship with more specialty dining options) is the best investment you can make prior to the drink package or a shore excursion. But that's just me, and to each their own!
I've been on 10 Carnival cruises in the last two years and a few months, with 9 being on casino offers and 8 being free (and one being our wedding!). My wife stopped getting offers as good as mine, so for our Alaska cruise only the first two in the room were free. As an experiment on this cruise we played roulette together except one difference, I was betting twice as much as her, but everything else was the same. We checked our points before and after, and she got more than I did! I usually play craps and she usually plays slots, it's important (on Carnival at least) to pay attention to your points, there was one floor person who if he was there I just didn't play because he didn't keep proper track. The casino host graciously gave us free specialty dinning comps after we told her (and we were both well under 1000 points at the time). On a past Carnival cruise I got surprised with free steakhouse on the last day, and only had around 2,200 points (the host said those comp's start around 5k which I've never come close to). It really is a crap shoot with Carnival! Thanks for this video, I really like how structured Royal is, with Carnival you really never know what your going to get! This alone is enough reason for us to try Royal!
That's a great experiment and something you might experience with Royal to (although not to those extremes IMO) because it ultimately comes down to the pit bosses attention and updates on your play in the system. That's why slots is more cut and dry then table games.
10:53 This cruise you showed the onboard promotion , is this correct , 1200 points gained you get a complimentary interior room or $300 off your next booking ? You don’t need to hit 2400 points but this accumulates on the next cruise , am I on the right track here ? 12:09 Paying only port fees and taxes for the free cruise are you still slugged the gratuity fee for the cruise ? Is there a way not to pay gratuity if you are that way inclined?
Each cruise is different with the "instant reward certificate" for whatever points you accumulated on that cruise. For instance, i just earned 680 points on a cruise and the instant certificate offer awarded a few 4 night cruises as a free option or $200 off my next cruise. The points accumulate within the casino calendar year (April to March) toward your tier status and you need to hit 2500 to earn Prime which gets an annual free cruise and free drinks in the casino. However, the instant cruise offer is done and your second cruise you will start fresh, earn points toward a different instant certificate, and add those points to your yearly total toward status. So there are a few ways to earn free cruises. I believe you can wave gratuities on any cruise by talking to guest services but I wouldn't want to be friends with anyone who would do that as the crew deserves the daily gratuities plus additional cash tips for those that can afford to recognize great effort.
@@parrot1233 Does the gratuity charge amount vary from ship to ship / length of cruise ?
No, they increased it recently... $18 a day per person unless you are in a suite then its a bit more.
How does the package work for lunch? Can you only eat on sea days? What if we are at port but do not want to get off (Nassau). Is there someplace we can eat to use the package or are we stuck at the Windjammer?
Correct unfortunately... typically one or two restaurants are opened on sea days (check the app) but they are all closed on port days. However, if you are in a boat with a Johnny rockets, you can eat there as an alternative to Windjammer or wherever else. Also, don't forget to grab lunch on boarding day if you board early enough as Chops or Giovannis is typically open.
i play a roullette comp point system $400 a spin, this racks up like 1200 points an hour, minimizing losses.... they bombard you with cruise offers... also craps is a great way , and u can actually win using good systems. dont worry about the annnual cruise, its all about instant certs on each cruise and the email ofers(almost weekly)
I've always been a Carnival cruiser, now looking to give Royal a try in June. I have enjoyed comped cruises w/free drinks everywhere on the ship w/Carnival. Thanks for the awesome content.
Glad it was informative... would love to hear your thoughts on the comparison after your Royal cruise.
How good is the upside down pineapple situation on Wonder?
😁😆
We will be going on Wonder of the Seas in Oct 2024. Looking forward to it. We have travelled on Oasis and Allure as well.
Let us know what you think of it after your trip... Allure is one of favorites as we love the outdoor Mexican restaurant (Sabor) on the boardwalk over Playmakers.
Great video!! I have been cruising for almost 3 years 2 to 3 times a month free. Always a great time!❤
Not a bad life!
Awesome video-thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sean, thanks. I shared this video in my FaceBook cruise group for the Brilliance of the Seas cruise next September.
Glad it brought value and thank you for sharing... good luck on your September cruise!
You can also find copies of the Cruise Compass for your ship on Royal Caribbean Blog.
Thank you for suggesting the extra gratuities for crew members - they work so hard!
I do belive tipping culture has turned an act of gratuity into an expectation, however, most Royal Caribbean crew members deserve what one can afford to give!
I like Royal Caribbean cruise, the whole family are going cruising in first week of September n my granddaughter just turn 2 year's old have to pay full price just like her mother is insane come on Royal😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Make sure she gets a lot of ice cream cones!
What dates? I'm going with my 2 year old and she's free 8-15
Love that you have the ship map on the side! Much easier to follow and feels like “you’re there” more
That's great to hear, thank you!
Hello thanks for the video. Could you share how much was the drink package ? Thanks
We got it at BOGO and it came to $1,091 and then they add 18% gratuity which is another $200. I've seen it discounted at 30% recently. Either way, no brainer for us given our quantity of drinking, especially because we get 2 or 3 fresh fruit smoothies a day from Vitality Cafe on the Oasis class ships.
You said you typically do $25-$50 hands of blackjack over the course of 4ish hours per 7 day cruise. But how many hands does that end up being? Roughly how much are you gambling? I realize it can't be exact as if you are up, you aren't spending any earned money, but I want to get an idea of if I lose every hand, am I looking at $1000 or $10000 over the course of the cruise.
I'll keep better track on our upcoming cruise but here are two ways to look at it... first, I'd say that a crowded table typically gets 60 hands of blackjack dealt in an hour. Say the average win rate at BJ is 40%, you'll win 24 hands and lose 36 hands resulting in $300 loss at $25 per bet. Second way to look at it is that I typically take $1,500 to $2k on a 7day cruise which is normally less then the cost of the cruise. Some weeks are great winning and other weeks when I lose I look at it as paying for the cruise.
Great presentation!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great share of the Wonder of the Seas
Many thanks!
My granddaughter just. turn 2 year's old n Royal Caribbean charge her full pay just like her mother is insane🤨
I agree and sorry to hear that! I appreciate the kids sale free promotion that Royal has from time to time and the discounted rate for third and fourth person in a stateroom. Although neither of those help you in this moment!
Nice video, except - - - in one frame you properly call it a ship - - - - then for the next 5 or 6 frames you call it a boat. It is a ship - - - I have a boat in my garage
Haha well stated and thank you! My wife tells me the same every vacation. You'd think it would sink in by now... no pun intended!
Loved your advice! Can’t wait for our cruise will make it so much easier was worried about making reservations.
Glad it was helpful!
Great advice! Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful! I forgot to mention to include your lunch reservations on sea days in the plan... that's why we include the port arrival and departure times on our planning document!

I've been doing this shindig for about 8 years now and I'm mostly a gaming content channel but I do travel vlogs and I have never included my wife in the shots mainly to protect her privacy. But if one day she asks to feature on the channel then I'll be all for it. Good luck with the channel!
Privacy is such a great consideration... I'm all ears for any other advice and congrats on 8 years strong! Thank you for following along our journey.
This is a great starter's camera to begin your TH-cam journey. The other two cameras would be better to use for B Roll later I think. But everyone is different. I have a Sony ZV-1F which is not as specced as your camera. Hope you have fun and remember to record as much as you can. No need to talk on every shot. You can do VO to shots later. Subbed and watching with interest.
We ended up purchasing both other cameras! Yet to be delivered... Both are returnable and we thought it would be interesting to have them on this upcoming vacation to see the differences so I will report back in a few weeks. Thank you for the tip on recording as much as we can... I almost thought I might overwhelm myself with too much content to edit and thought I should be more deliberate with recording so your advice is well received!
You chosed the worst camera betwee this 3
Interesting, what do you like most about the other 2?
This is a good camera to start 👌👌I also decided to buy this too for my youtube channel .
Great to hear... let us know how you like it and if you stick with it!
