Yamaha AR210 (2017-2021) 10 Hour Service Part 1: Oil Change
มุมมอง 28K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn how to perform the 10 Hour Service on your Yamaha AR210. Part 1 focuses on the most important aspect of this service; the oil change. UPDATES: 1. Don’t buy the oil extractor pump I did, it broke after one year and leaked oil in my boat! Buy the manual hand pump that West Marine sells instead. 2. Tip: Take a point Phillips screwdriver and hammer and tap a hole into the top of the air filte...

Hungry film
มุมมอง 6810 ปีที่แล้ว
A short film by Heather Torell bringing attention to the fact that despite all of man's technological advances, in 2014 1 in 8 people on this planet still suffer from hunger.
Thank you so much for recording this instructional video. Watched it twice and was able to install without any issues! 2023 252S
Great video! I used it to install on my 2015 AR240. Minor differences. I did have to adjust both nozzles and tie rods to get them to line up. Jeffs instructions aren’t that clear to follow by themselves, so this helped solve the puzzle. Really good improvement in steering at both idle and high speed.
great video man anytime i need a refresher i bring your video up as reference! been doing my own oil change since i bought the boat thanks to you video!
Where's the greasing part? Can't find it here or in part 2
Great video! For your tip # 2 in the description "2. Tip: Take a point Phillips screwdriver and hammer and tap a hole into the top of the air filter you’re replacing". You mean the oil filter, not the air filter.
Huge help, Daren. Thank you, and well done.
appreciate the well explained install.. It is a big help to my understanding of this.
Crossthreaded to 40ft/lb. On another note you should be able to disassemble your hack and use it on the welded bracket instead of booting on
Hi How do you reset the maintenance message on the screen?
This video is very helpful!! Thank you!! Took about an hour and a half did it while watching the video!!! Thx
I know this is an old video, but the white stuff on the bolts is Loctite 572 - Low Strength Sealant - Easy breakaway characteristics. My Yamaha manual recommends cleaning the electrode as part of the spark plug check procedure.
@Daren did you grease the bearing at the 10h. I saw the grease in the table but didn’t saw if you did it or not.
Great video - I used it to install mine, but as another commenter said, you run out of washers for the adjustable/spacer fin connection if you use 3 per bolt. What hole settings did you ultimately go with? both fins all the way to lowest point?
Hey Daren, great video. Looking at buying the Ark 740 for my camper. One point though, I noticed you used coarse thread stainless bolts, Technically you should be using High Tensile, Fine thread bolts to avoid shearing under load. Still better than the crap you removed though.
What type of loctite should we need ?
Blue
thank you for making this video...very helpful for my first oil change...
This is probably the most detailed and thorough video for installing the Cobra kit. I ordered the Super Magnum AK 19 Deluxe kit for my 2019 Yamaha 242 Limited E. I've used my boat several times now without the kit and so I am looking forward to seeing the improvements in steering. I will absolutely use your video for installation. thanks.
did you ever grease the bearing
if you have to pour half the oil in two holes. Wouldn't you need to extract from the top fill hole too?
Great video! Thanks for doing that for us who know nothing about boats. I’m learning myself after 2 dealers told me they went over the boat only for me to find stuff that did not check!
Installing this today with the Mega Fangs. Great video, and very helpful. Thank you.🙏🏾
Great video, thank you! After the first 10 hour oil change... how often does the service manual say to change the oil, and also how often the spark plugs? Thanks!
Thanks Daren great detail.
How heavy is the steering when turning at speed? Without fangs to add steering assist, are these notably heavier to steer when on plane?
There’s no extra heaviness while steering.
Thank you Darren, try a hole punch at the top dead center of the oil filter so that it drains nearly all the oil in the filter down to the oil pan, using your extracter before removing the filter. You'll get a lot less seeping from the oil filter when you finally remove it. Less cleanup :-)
Another great video and the beauty of recording you doing this is that you are also documenting your maintenance is being done per the manual!
GREAT VIDEO !! Really like that pump setup!!
Awesome video, THANK YOU! I just used it to do the 10 hour service on my 2022 212XD
What's the towing capacity on your jeep and what's the weight of this AR 210+ trailer?
So question about your jeep. How well does it pull your boat. Is it a V6 or v8. I have a 2020 V6. Looking at the same boat as you or the ar195.
You’ll want to check your towing capacity. I have a V8 which is 6500 lbs and the AR210 is 4500lbs dry.
How you take it off
Great video....that's a combination wrench, not a crescent. A crescent wrench is an adjustable wrench.
excellent video thank you very much .. a question when doing the service ourselves would lose the warranty for yamaha ??
No, it won’t void your warranty. Just keep your records and receipts from when you buy the oil and filter. Yamalube allows you to enter your records and receipts on their site too.
How long did it take to get all 3 quarts after it slowed down after about 2 quarts?
This video was extremely helpful with my 1st oil change. I found a 2.9 quart manual oil extractor pump at West Marine that worked fantastic instead of the electric one. He made a key point about not over filling the engine and checking the oil while it is warm. Makes a HUGE difference! Thanks for sharing this video.
The tr1 - same motor as in my 2 vx limited skis. The gas mileage is so much better than an outboard.
Thanks Daren. I agree the stock jack is a piece of junk. Are you able to move your AR 210 easier by hand with this new jack? It was almost impossible for us to move our with the stock jack.
I haven’t personally moved it by hand yet. One time though I forgot to put my wheel chocks on, and it rolled forward in its storage lot about 15ft. 2 guys at my storage facility rolled it back into its spot, and that was on a slight incline. So it will definitely roll yes. Keeping in mind tho that 4500lbs is hard for one guy to push regardless.
Great video. I used it today to install the same ones plus fangs since I hate reading directions. Just one thing wrong with the directions on here. Do not use washers on the outter blades where they connect to the flat piece (the adjustable ones). There aren't enough washers in the kit plus more importantly the small bolts aren't long enough and won't fully engage the nylocks. You'd be at risk of a nylock coming off. Not a critique just trying to help out. Thanks for the video, though! Made install very easy today!
I wish I would have seen this before installing haha
You mentioned the grease up front - did you do the intermediate housing grease at the 10 hr?
I did not yet. All of the comments about over-greasing it destroying it freaked me out. But I plan to do it this spring
@@darenbarker1732 - Look forward to your video doing that [hint hint wink wink]
@@darenbarker1732 - did you the intermediate bearing grease yet? I am still scared to touch it but really should...(sorry - don’t know your jetboater ID so messaging you here)
Nice video, Daren. Something you touched on, and should be emphasized, is the familiarization of components inside your engine compartment. Look at EVERYTHING in there...touch things to check for loose hose clamps, wire connections, bolts backing out, screws missing, leaking fluids...anything that is out of place. A few minutes spent learning what things are and look like when tight and secure will save you headaches later.
Fantastic video. Thank you! Naive question - picking up an AR190 next week. Is it safe to assume that the process will be identical to yours (half as much work)?
Yep pretty close just 1 less engine.
@@darenbarker1732 did you happen to smell the oil you extracted? I noticed it had a gas smell which ive always thought was a bad sign but not sure on these jet boats if thats normal or not
Did you try the TV's on your boat? I've been trying to find comparisons of boaters who have had both installed. Pros/Cons of each system.
See my reply here to Adam, where I discuss pros/cons. Because they are actually designed differently to do different things, you don’t need to install both to make the right decision for your needs.
Major CON for my 2019 212 for TV's.... they are not compatible with the Wake Wedge. I have TVs installed... and I am changing to Cobras so I can use my wake wedge. $600 mistake
Hi Daren, what's your opinion of this system VS the thrust vector system?
I wanted to go with TV because they’re prettier, but no brainer to go with the Cobra 100% just for safety reasons. The Cobra fins stay in the water at all speeds. The TV fins are designed to pop up on top of the water at higher speeds (due to the patent Cobra has). Remember our jet boats have nearly zero steering without throttle, even if you have a newer one with Yamaha’s “articulating keel”. If you ever panic when avoiding an obstacle and kill the throttle while swerving the wheel, the Cobra fins will still help you turn. With TV you’ll be no better than stock and will still plow ahead. To be clear it’s not that TV is unsafe by itself, it’s that they literally offer no improvements over stock for anything but trolling speed and docking.
Great video, could you provide a link for the pump?
Question? Do you know If is really necessary to flush the boat every time you use on fresh water? Thank you,
You don't need to flush engines if running in fresh water. Do rev each engine to blow some of the water out.
@@socalifone3044 thank you!!!!!
Thank you for this video, very well explained how to get things done the right way.
Daren, Thanks for making this video! You talked me through the process in great detail! I watched it a couple of times and knocked out the oil change on my AR210 in no time!! Just an fyi... if you punch a second hole in the lid collecting the old oil, the pump extracts it from the engine at a much faster pace.
Thank you Daren. I'm on my third time watching this. 2021 SX210 coming in the spring. I'll be doing this myself thanks to your video. Where did you get the swivel Ratchet Wrench? That thing looks like it makes things easy.
I think I just picked it up at AutoZone.
I drive a 2021 suburban, how high do that jack raises?
You can find specs online but trust me that it will go way higher than you’ll ever need for a Suburban.
Already order it
Great video! Thanks for making it. 😀 Quick question: Where did you get your manual and which manual are you using? Thanks again!
I used the Service Manual, it’s available printed for $75 from yamahapubs.com
