I'm so sick of how in all the movies from the 30's through the 50's had someone singing once past the singing the movies are ok.
I'm so glad I have found this channel. Great place to find rare hidden gems 👍 ( just subscribed) 😊
Thank you for uploading this Rare quota quickie, with its typical RCMP and Lumber camp tropes. Since DGN was produced to comply with British quota regulations, it deploys an odd mixture of American and British actors (like Edgar Edwards and Jameson Thomas), with the Misguided and False assumption that Canadians speak with British accents. Sheila (Mannors) Bromley makes a fetching heroine. It's unfortunate Shelia never achieved A-list stardom and got mired in B-Westerns and Exploitation quickies like The Pace That Kills / Cocaine Fiends (35) for which she is perhaps more remembered. She turns in a first- rate performance in the latter, playing a role that would never past muster in Major studio fare.
I loved this show when it was new on Tv, and in reruns around 1968, I also had a German Shepard when I was growing up. I would love to have DVDS of this show?
First time ok 😢
Cool movie!
They should have called their 'madame' in first thing. Could have saved us an hour's worth of abysmal dialog and even worse acting. This stinker plays out as if the actors expected the director to yell 'CUT!' after every line.
First time 😮
How can it be the same dug London ? 🤔
This dog reads and understands English.. impressive
This movie is so successful as timeless story telling because it is a retelling of "Pamela, or Virtue Rewarded" by Samuel Richardson (1740) This classic tells the story of a comely but poor farm girl virgin who goes to work for a country squire. He is accustomed to having his way with his female staff and keeps sexually harassing her but without success. She keeps fending off his attempts to deflower her until finally HE gives in, NOT her. He marries her and gets what he wants on their honeymoon and she shares his marital estate so she gets what she needs. The Naked Road (1959) is the same story of a virginal young woman defending her honor except this time against the predations of a sex trafficker in modern New York. It is composed of the same series of cliffhangers that leave the audience wondering, " ... will she, or won't she?" The amazing thing is how well this same narrative works 219 years later!!!🎉 Note how the good girl is a brunette and the bad girl is a blond. We are accustomed to seeing dark represent evil and light, good. However it wasn't always that way. At the turn of the last century it was opposite. Brunettes were the virtuous ones and blonds the big city temptresses in plays and silent movies. Note also how the boss has an English accent and seems like he is a true rogue, ie., " ..a male animal gone bad ..." as Michael Crichton explains to us in his "The Great Train Robbery". We both mean a high born man who has fallen from Grace. The boss may have started out highly educated and respectable yet like the girl, took a wrong turn somewhere in life. He seems like the country squire in 'Pamela'. It's symbolic how the movie ends on a high note in Times Square, Crossroads of the World. A place where people change direction in life. In the case of the boss, after 5 years behind bars he might become what he should have been which is a successful legitimate business man. The girl would leave the demi-world of 'modeling' and being an 'actress ' to become a college career girl as they used to call them back then. BTW just three years later the so-called "Career Girl Murders" in NYC would happen. People would ask if this new woman wasn't endangering herself by not getting married to live alone and pursue a career. Back in the day of the novel 'Pamela' actress was synonymous with prostitution. So the moral may have been that the girl will get married and live under the protection of her husband. FUN FACT: The murder scene of Carla is a building in my neighborhood. 0:59:09 It's located to this day at west 72 street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue in New York City. I knew it as the home of the late actress Shelley Winters who was in the Irwin Allen disaster movie, "Poseidon Adventure" (197?) with an all-star cast including Oscar winner Gene Hackman. Right next door to her building is The Dakota (built 1879) where many, many celebrities lived including Roberta Flack, Rex Reed, Boris Karloff and sadly ex-Beatle John Lennon who was assassinated there back in 1980 by John Hinckley. Today Strawberry Fields stands in remembrance across CPW.
I would watch this on Sunday mornings in the 60s on WGN-TV in Chicago. 🎉
I had to watch this movie again. Because it's so bad.
The music was excellent
Racy material for that age.
Beautiful movie, excellent acting by every actor 👌, watching it now in 2024.
Low budget aside, this was a very good film.. it got the message across. Should be seen by all girls in highschool. There's nothing funny about it. It's a very current plot.
Its like no one told them they couldn't make this movie.
Really liked this show, as a kid. Appreciate the posting!!
I was knee high to a grasshopper the last time I saw this show and what I remember most was the theme song. The memories brought a tear to my old eyes.
But that missing tooth, though. I was mesmerized!
I kept looking too.
AHH the tooth the whole tooth and nothing but the TOOTH ⚖️💯😉
23:30 - Man, that's some realistic fighting! You can hear those slaps and punches actually landing.
Wow! That was surprising. It's like I tell younger guys all the time: when you pump your load into a kum bucket and she turns up pregnant...mother's bay, father's maybe.
This film represents America of the 1950's to now...Nothing changed. Brutality and dysfunctions....Good and entertaining and so funny but sad too....No wonder people hate the police....Peace
@38:30: The conniving lawyer is gonna' get RICH for a 'mighty-long time' by selling parcels of swamp land (in 1958) for $5.00 down and payments of $2.50 a month? Btw, an internet search claims that $1.00 in 1958 is worth $10.58 in 2024. Imagine a con-man attempting to 'GET RICH' for a mighty-long time in 2024, by selling 'parcels of land' for $52.90 down and payments of $26.45 per month.
Skanky Music wow.
Dammit Toshio!
Pretty accurate depiction of cops though
Watchable to me , but the ending surprised me anyway .
Pretty good movie.
I don't know how this film got passed the censors back then but I'm glad it did. I was expecting a train wreck but this was a really good movie. Kind of a dingier look at the past.
That kids head on the dashboard! 🤕
WOW!
A red wet dream.
And in just a few short years the phrase Panamint ranch would not sound so innocent. Noticed bothe the pre-change and post-change in pronunciation of "lingerie."
EDDIE, don't be a zero.
Not exactly William Faulkner or Tennessee Williams.
More like Tennessee Tuxedo.
First time ok😮
First time ok 😮
Mark tells Gay she can earn $100 a week. “That’s fifty grand a year!” That fool can’t multiply!
Elaine Benes's (Seinfeld fame- Julia Louis-Dreyfus) dance moves were NOT original. Lifted from Jeanne Rainer... Nothing new under the SUN
Wait...I wanted to know who the maid was. No credit for that actress? Come on.
She was good!!✨❤
How quickly the plots change- decade by decade.... HollyWood BUILT your reality
I bet most, if not all of the men in this thriller were never boy scouts....except the cops.
He’s the one who’s been shot but “give me the gun”? Ok. Like he’s been the one all along who’s been wronged-by a selfish little (fill in the blank).
80s theme tune is better. Nice episode.
That was surprising for a 1950's movie: the guy wants to get married and have the baby, the girl wants to be rid of it and was just having a fling. I was waiting for him to say: "Now my reputation will be ruined! No decent girl will ever want me for a husband!"
Damn that Eddie
Thank you for the upload.
Yeah Eddie. But I know she was up for it and playing the victim card after it was over.
