Fall Colors in Colorado // Nederland day trip // Family time
If you are thinking of visiting Colorado in the fall to see the Aspens change, consider coming at the end of September or early October. We were lucky to take a day trip to Nederland, CO from where we live near Denver during a peak time at the end of September. It was a fun day filled with hiking, merry go rounds, pizza and donuts.

Restoring 1978 Toyota Chinook Camper Roof // This was NOT easy
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
It's been awhile! We took a break after painting our 1978 Toyota Chinook camper, and over the last few months have been making some repairs. In this video we update you on what we have been doing, from re-sealing the windows, taking out part of the rotten floor, and the biggest project yet...removing, repairing, painting, and re-attaching the roof. Adam had a vision for how he wanted to fix a l...
Summiting Mount Evans, 14,265 ft // Colorado day trip
มุมมอง 9313 ปีที่แล้ว
A great day trip to try in Colorado is driving to the summit of Mount Evans on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway. The Mount Evans Scenic Byway is the highest paved road in Colorado, the United States, and North America. There is so much to see and do along the way. The drive to the top of the mountain starts at Echo Lake Lodge and you can get there from Idaho Springs or Evergreen. Here's where to ma...
Painting our 1978 Toyota Chinook
มุมมอง 3.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
After weeks of sanding, we finally painted our 1978 Toyota Chinook and she looks brand new! Our friend Luke visited from Wisconsin to help design and paint the stripes. The goal was to bring the original stripes and colors of the Chinook back to life to maintain the 70s vibe. This process took a lot longer than expected, and Adam and Luke pulled a few all nighters to make this happen before Luk...
Driving our 1978 Toyota Chinook for the first time // Prepping for paint // Sanding fiberglass
มุมมอง 1.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This was the first time we drove our 1978 Toyota Chinook Camper after repairing the engine. We had to drive it about 20 minutes to bring it to a shop where we will be painting the exterior. The plan was to sand all of the paint off the fiberglass camper and metal front of the truck. It took a lot longer than expected (almost 2 weeks} to get the 5 layers of paint off. Our next project will be re...
We bought a 1978 Toyota Chinook
มุมมอง 4.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We recently bought a 1978 Toyota Chinook pop-top camper! It is in pretty rough shape, and we are working on restoring it to make it usable for camping trips. So far we have ripped out the original interior and made a list of future projects we need to work on. Stay tuned to follow along with our progress and future adventures!
Jack is a stud
How did you guys take out the cabinets
What type of gasket did you use to seal roof? I have a tilt top and need to find a replacement gasket. After watching your video, I am now wondering if I can find some of the pop up mechanisms.
Beautiful family. Happy for you!
Nice job. Although I would have painted that front headlight assembly satin black or if you really want to color match it at least paint the inside portion of the grill fins black, that headlight assembly piece is what makes these year Toyota stand out. And I would have painted the front truck portion white or another shade of white to offset the coach..... but that's just me and what I would do, it's your car you do as you please. I do like how you try to keep the retro feel with the brown and orange striping though.
Such good progress, well done! any updates on the project?
Awesome 😎! Sharp looking
BEFORE!!!!!! You ruined it!!!
Cry about it, WE LOVE IT.
leave it at 5:36. it's a Jackson Pollack
Could you tell me what size tire is on your Chinook and if they are stop
Good randomly running into you at HD. This rig is super rad.
Yea man! Very cool to meet you! Your rig is too cool!
Ohhh SNAP! Look at that awesome looking frontend on these old skool year Toyota trucks! You know wassup! Hahaha. I would paint the horizontal fins and headlight surroundings 'satin black' though........I think it would look better.
It was great to meet you guys in Epcot!! I love a good travel vlog (and it's just nice to know you'll be able to go back and re-experience this all again someday!) Can't wait to follow your travels!
It was so great meeting you!! We will be living vicariously through you and your Disney adventures ❤️
I suggest replacing the motor with another toyota v8 called the 1uz. it'll be perfect for it.
How beautiful! I love the scenery and the camera work. Your kiddo is adorable! This video was so tranquil and soothing. It was awesome to meet you both tonight!
Thank you so much!! It was so fun meeting you too! :)
I can definitely appreciate the creepy Dexter room 😂 Not that I speak from experience. The paint job was so satisfying to watch! It was fascinating to see the whole process 😃
Aw thank you for watching! lol the Dexter room. Glad you got that reference
One of my favorite Hilux chinook. Looks awesome guys. Thanks for the adventure and giving us a tour of your lovely chinook :)
thank you for watching! :) more updates to come soon
Little tip don't boost your motorhome with your car without shutting the motor off or you'll bug up your alternator always boost it is with a boost or turn your vehicle off cuz I bug it up two alternators because of it
Thanks for the tip
This is awesome. Thank you for sharing! We've got to do ours next. How did you figure out the "rise" or angle for the new cross braces on the roof underside? Also - wicked paint job!!
Thank you so much! Honestly I think what we did first was put a lot of weight on the roof when it was upside down since ours was caved in. From there we put in the wood braces and added fiberglass so they hardened in place. It’s not the perfect shape but water doesn’t collect on the top anymore so it will do for now
Yo I love your videos! And thanks man! I am the guy in the video lol! But yea just used cinder blocks and had to cut the corner that was sagging and poorly repaired in the past and doing I was able to make the roof convex instead of concave. I think it was a 1 foot by 1 foot hole plus cut out the whole corner and used fiberglass to patch everything back together. It wasn’t easy but it turned out really well and is watertight now. Used boat paint on the underside.
We used a cardboard template to match the shape and kept trimming it till it fit
Very nature place my friend...so happy trip there...greetings from Jakarta city👍🙏
oooh those drone shots though. lovely day out
Thank you ❤️
Amazing aspens-and such sweet days❤️💕
Very sweet ❤️

Coming soon :)
Awesome job!
Thank you!
you guys are artists 😍😍
Lucky you had help, we tried painting our camper ourselves. It was a learning experience.
It was totally a learning experience for us too! A lot more work than we thought it would be
I think 1st thing I would do is get rid of that 2.2 liter 20r for a 5vz engine swap that 20r is probably more underpowered than the 22r yeah 5vz would get that chinny going good up hill
What time of the year did this climb take place?
June!
Absolutely beautiful ❤️I’ve got tears in my eyes💜
Thank you 🧡
What a great way to start the month!!
I hope you replaced that rear axle. Those were notorious for snapping.
we for sure want to replace it to the dually at some point
@@wildandfitz8593 the 1ton srw pickup axle is an easier swap. Sweet camper tho, enjoy.

Subscribed! I own a 77 chinook. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this. Ive been slowly rebuilding mine over the years. Currently swapping out the 20r for a 22r 🍻
that's awesome! thanks for subscribing!
Looking forward to your progress 😊. We are in Lakewood.
Sanding is brutal but looking good. Glad AG made an appearance… a custom Graysmith forged hood ornament might be a sweet addition to job list!
That’s a good idea!!
She made it!! Looking great
Why would you sand the stripes? That's what makes it a chinook..will follow with interest.
Those were not the original stripes, they got painted over by the previous owner. We will be giving it new stripes!
