Not so sure. My GF doesn't say it but if we have a fight and I avoid her, she cries and tells me how much she loves me. We hardly fight but this happened the few times. We've been together for 10 months. I just stopped saying it altogether and am beginning to resent her for this. It's too bad because I love her but will not allow myself to be in a subordinate position again. I came out of an abusive marriage and learned that I will not allow myself to be treated poorly again. My SO of 6 yrs never says it. I have expressed how I would like to hear it and how it makes me feel when I don't. I have heard him say it to his daughter consistently, even once when he was on the phone with her when I was taking her to school, and then it wasn't said to me. It really hurt my feelings. I'm not jealous, I'm just hurt that I know he is willing and capable, but not for me. It is causing me to hate myself for being good enough.

My step sister says her boyfriend that she loves an adores won't say the words I love u but does say things like, you know I do when confronted. She has told him multiple times that she wants to hear it and has asked him if he ever will and he says yes but I'm concerned still. They have had a sexual activities once since she has known him but it has been a year and they haven't since. She is very passionate about that side of her and I'm afraid maybe this isn't the healthiest relationship she could be in even though he seems to be a nice guy. He is very anxious and backwards and I can understand that having anxiety and ADHD myself. But she is almost the opposite. My step sister grew up in a home that didn't say the words I love you as often as mine. She's self conscious and has even been made to feel like she needs to push her feelings down and not express them. With her being afraid of confrontational communication and him showing signs of an Asexual Im worried for her. She does claim to be happy and I will not stand in her way and will still support her but I truly thinks she thinks she is happy only because of the lack of serious relationships she has been in and and she's worried about being alone. I don't want to push her but I just want her to open her eyes to all possibilities. Is there any advice you could offer in my special circumstance?

I hear alot of people talk about this and it seems to mostly be men. I get it because I'm very affectionate I love to cuddle kiss all the above. But alot of women aren't just that affectionate. I am very affectionate. But if I don’t get it in return, I become cold. Later, they finally realize that I stopped, they ask for me to be more affectionate but when I am, I don’t get it in return. So eventually I feel like a roommate and I no longer want to sleep with that person either. If I am not emotionally connected, I despise the idea of that person touching me.

My girlfriend and I are on a 2 week break right now. She said she loves me so much and that I’m amazing and she’s never been treated so well before but she has a block and doesn’t know what it is and needs to work on herself to figure it out and thought we should break up. We were both devastated by that. She even said she didn’t want this to end but didn’t know what else to do. I so suggested a 2 week break. She looked so relieved and said “you’re willing to do that for me?” With a sigh of relief. We defined the rules. We said “this is not a Ross and Rachel break” and we laid out the ground rules. It’s been killing me these past 2 weeks that I can’t talk to her or see her or tell her I love her. One more day and she’s coming over to talk about everything. I’m really hoping for a good outcome but I’m prepared for both. We both are going to have a lot to say to each other. I'm a husband of 12 years and I desire to say I love you to my as often as possible but it can become overwhelming for my wife because she doesn't have the same idea of the use of saving I love you as I do. Me hearing I love you encourages me to do more for my wife. It's love fuel for me to feel emotionally connected with a bit of physical touch. I get this from my father who always listened to his love music and he expressed it to his children. My wife isn't the most affectionate when it comes to saying I love you and I have to be honest it's a little draining because I don't hear it as often as I use it. However, she is a certain personality type that is introverted and loves acts of service. I believe saying I love you I also combined with acts of service as much as possible because if you truly love someone your words will match your actions. They should go hand in hand.

I don't know man, I've been with my girlfriend for 3 months today, and shit is just not feeling okay. Every time I want/tries to kiss her, she pushes me away, or slaps me "for fun", but I don't think it's funny. I want to feel her give me some love, or at least just her touch.
