@@TRENCHBUILDER22 yeah it was great! You can see me as the squad leader holding the radio handset a few times (at 2:33 I have the handset and a map) and at 2:20 in the footage I’m the guy holding the m16 crouching next to the guy cutting the m41 pack

I WAS A GRUNT WITH HHC 3rdBDE SCOUT PLATOON 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION 70-71....ALOT OF THE STUFF YOU SHOW IN YOUR " KIT " IS BS....WE DIDN'T CARRY ALOT OF THAT CRAP , WE DID CARRY LOTS OF H2O , AMMO , CLAYMORES , RADIO BATTERIES , etc...

Hi, I'm going to do 101st Airborne or 1st ID 1969-71 But did those divisions use the buttpack at all? Rather than the lightweight ruck? @Steel pot has helped me so much with my impression i'm trying to build but i can't find photos easily especially late war for 1st ID and 101st airborne. Did they use just bandoliers and stuff rather than ammo pouches as well?
Butt packs where very uncommon later in the war rucksacks are definitely preferred although the market is really bad for them right now you could always get away without using one and make your kit off a tiny patrol or combat. Yes they mostly used bandoliers as their main pouch to carry mags although you still see ammo pouches scattered throughout the whole entire war.

@@Kenner_konnor thanks man my great uncle was in WW2 he passed away I have his helmet his bayonet for his m1 and a few of his metals he died in 1944 on a Belgium ship going to France or Normandy it was two ships the one that sinked was the SS Leopoldville it got hit by a German torpedo from the submarine 5 miles from the ship 802 soldiers were killed. but yeah I wanted to do somewhat of a impression I collect ww2 so it shouldn't be that hard for me to get stuff

The reason some guys would not put their gas masks in the bags is because they will put ammunition or likes c ration and stuff also could I use pineapple grenades for my 1965 da nang landing marine impression
It’s kinda impossible to find out what is more accurate unless you have X-Ray Vision for Bags

It was definitely a 50\50 thing with patches in certain units it was required but I never really got around to buying the patch
I must say, you have a very impressive collection of personal items. I have always appreciated the finer aspects of an impression, the period accurate labels and brands which you have, making your kit that much more special!

Once you get the basic gear it’s pretty easy although can be tedious like any other impression
