Alhambra in Granada, Spain
The Alhambra is a historic palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain, located on Sabikah Hill. Originally not planned as a single complex, it grew over time. Under the Nasrids (1238 - 1492), the Alhambra became a magnificent residence with the addition of palaces, baths, mosques, schools, and gardens.

Thank you so much for showing the photograph of what remained of the original painting, as I have long found Herzfeld's speculative reconstruction somewhat crude and unsatisfactory. The original image, fragmentary though it is, and transmitted through a black-and-white photograph, seems more beautiful and graceful. I wonder if the original work still survives, and if so, whether in situ (probably unlikely) or a museum?
