I can't stress paying attention to the battery polarity enough. I purchased a similar (but not the same) brand 10000mah battery for my build and the polarity is flipped...requiring me to redo the connector to make sure it won't fry my board. Awesome video though!
@@Pierocksmysocks1 yeah I have a friend that fried his board recently because of a polarity mix up! It’s a mistake you hopefully only make once, but many of us have been there. Thank you!
@@madgearcompany Did the battery from your build list come with the correct polarity out of the box, or did you have to snip and flip? Looking at making a few extra and wanting to source some additional batteries.
@ mine came reversed, and I had to use the paper clip trick to flip them! If you want to see how I did that, check out my covert mesh node video (if you haven’t seen the technique or employed it yet)
I feel that you should specify that a Meshtastic device shouldn’t be run as a repeater unless it’s extremely high up on a tower or something . People just building these and running repeaters will do more harm to the network then help it .
Can this be used with a uv 5 R

Could you put a antenna on a t deck
@@mojoTxyeah you can! Would you like to see a guide on that?
@madgearcompany he’ll ya I trying to build my list to get everything I need including the repeater
I have one, youre better off buying a RAK wisblock starter kit and linking it to your phone. The software for these is extremely limited in what it can do (no message history ect). There is better firmware in development but it is extremely buggy at the moment and not practical for real world use. The RAK devices link to your phone and work flawlessly
It's simple, but I have used it to moderate effect. I like both though!
@Alpha_HD
Link to it please?

Bc its part of the E Plan for the local nuclear power station. The health department website says there was a routine distribution yesterday.

What’s the antennas? You have in the video.

Could you do a breakdown of the radio setup? I can see the Yaesu FT-891. What antenna and battery are being used?
We have an integrated 12AH battery. The Field Radio manpack comes with this battery option. It works really well!
@@madgearcompany where did you get the kit? I have just found the radio.

Wouldnt know how to fill this out
The directions are on the back of every sheet!
@@gedion4000 the instructions for each sheet is on the back!
Just be aware what you’re gaining in pocket ability here you’re losing some with the LoRa antenna being jammed against everything else. It’ll still work. But a lot less well than it could if the antenna were sticking out.
@@TerraMagnus it’s a simple trade off, like with almost anything. A Prius is cheaper and more fuel efficient than a Tahoe, but doesn’t have nearly as much interior space or towing capacity. An internal antenna does have marginally decreased link budget, but it doesn’t have an antenna sticking out and it’s less conspicuous.
When you're using an antenna that small, the tradeoff is usually feet, not miles. Negligable loss for a discreet mobile node.
do not mount a antenna next to the pcb an batterie

I do need to get one of these set up

Nice! but why put it on the top instead of the bottom?
@@kenneth6731 good question! For my personal use of this specific unit, it benefits the way I use the node. However I see no issue with putting it on the bottom!

@@12chuck0351 just the antenna that comes with the meshtastic starter kit
I had no idea this was a feature, and this is actually useful info. Thanks.
